CAG MLB 10: The Show League Original Teams Finish 1 game by June 13th

hey josh, sorry for the delay... amazon finally got there act in gear and got my game today. lemme know what needs to be done on my end and im ready to rocknroll

Hope iSuperfly picks his team soon. This process took way longer than it should have when we did it last year. I think it took us 4 days just to get through everybody picking teams.
 
Hey quick update. Since iSuperfly didn't get my PM until now because he wasn't on the list due to his late arrival into the league, he has 24 hours from now. Sorry for the delay but I just realized it when I noticed he was on today but didn't pick a team. My bad.
 
Man, where's yukine? I'm pretty sure he and wildcpac will want the Diamondbacks and Yankees, but it would be nice if we could speed this process up a bit. This is the same thing that happened last year.

I know he has been on today and I sent him a PM earlier today. He has 4 hours to go or he will be bumped. I really hope that we can complete the lottery before Friday because I will be away for 2 nights from the internet.

Yeah, I know. But I have faith in my team and my own ability to win games. I don't need to have 1st in batting, pitching, and defense to win... at least that is what I tell myself.

I was thinking the Cardinals as well, but I would rather leave teams that people really like so that the real fans can hopefully pick them to play with.

Yea, Posada was a great catcher but he is getting up there age wise. Would be nice to see him in the Hall but I don't know.

240 HR's, 950 RBI's, Well above Average 120-130 OPS every year.

Could finish up at 300 HR's, 1200 RBI's. Still in the top 5 hitting catchers in the league.

He is signed for the next two seasons, I could picture him being the backup catcher/pinch hitter/part time DH in 2012=2013 to make his best friend Jeter Happy and let Posada pad his #'s a bit.
 
By the way, how are rosters going to work? Are we going to be emulating real life with injuries and everything or are we just going to use what is available to us?

For example, it's iffy that Webb will be starting on opening day and it would be a bitch if I can't use him in my rotation. I would have picked another team in that case.
 
No, real life injuries won't be a factor in this league. If we were in a season long league with 162 games and 30 teams, that might be a fun thing but not in this. Feel free to choose the D-backs.

Yeah, I second this. Injuries were the worst thing about using real teams in our MLB 08 league. Between that and teams just mailing it in after the ASB, some of our rosters got completely raped, and it killed the fun for a lot of people.

Are invites being sent out once all have teams picked? When will this tentatively be started? I have spring break next week.... still have to work 40 hrs but will be able to play almost anytime. Or so I hope... its quarter end and sucks for an intern, ha!
 
Invites will definately be sent before the weekend. I was planning on waiting for almost everyone to pick before sending invites. It will be either tuesday or thursday since wednesday is n8's fantasy draft and I'm going to be gone Friday and Saturday night. If we get a couple more picks in, expect an invite tomorrow.
 
Hmm...Im not sure what you guys are doing in this thread anymore or whats going on....but If I could have had the St Louis Cardinals like I asked for in one of the VERY first posts on this thread....I'd be in. I only wanted to move to the Fantasy league so I could have the Cards....if its possible to be in this league and actually HAVE the Cards, please let me know...I don't want to go back through and read all of these posts. I just assumed I would have to lottery for my beloved Cards and thats why I stopped reading the thread. I DID have dibs on the Cards though! :)

I don't think there's any open spots in this league anyway, but come on dude. Don't flip flop. This league IS doing a lottery. That's how we're picking our teams. The selection order has already been set, and your chance of getting the Cardinals would have been completely random. I'm a Yankees fan, and I'm playing with the Phillies. That's just the way things go. But seriously, show a little commitment to the league you're actually in. You haven't accepted your league invite yet or anything. You're giving me bad vibes.

I wasn't flip flopping. I said from the very begining that I wanted to play in this leauge and I wanted the Cardinals....even talked about it with Josh. I haven't accepted because I haven't been on my PS3 today....I I worked 34 hours over the weekend. Forgive me for not being up to date. I kind of get bad vibes from you too. Just give my spot to someone else. I'll just play solo on MLB. Good luck to both of your leagues. I'm out then.

Nice. All I was saying was that you were posturing for a spot in a league that has been full for some time...to play on a team that you had no guarantee of getting. You keep going on and on about how you would LOVE to play as the Cardinals. But doing a lottery was the fair thing for everybody. If you were in the league and somebody else chose the Cardinals, would you have quit?

So what time frame are we looking at for starting the league? Because UPS sucks and my PS3, which I delivered to the UPS store on Friday morning, wasn't mailed out to the repair center until today.
 
Since when did CAG have so many Mets fans? At this rate Ill be lucky to have the choice of the Pirates or the Royals! Hahahaha!

Well, I'm aiming towards Sunday evening because a- I'm guessing that the lottery will be completed around Wednesday; b- I'm gonna be gone from 5 p.m friday to around noon Sunday; and c- the NCAA tournament is this weekend and I'm sure some people will be having plans. The key is finishing the draft before 5 p.m Friday, otherwise, it will probably be moved back to early next week. Do you have an ETA on the PS3 by any chance?

Wait... draft? I thought we weren't doing a draft. And no, there's no ETA. They said 10-14 days... But as I said, I dropped it off Friday and it didn't get shipped out till this morning from Ontario, California (which is 20 miles from here).

Actually, I didn't need to "posture" because I was one of the first people to say I wanted in the league...and was actually IN the league until I signed up for your league and was taken out of the original teams league because of that.

Maybe, and if I had known from the get go that the teams would be a lottery I probably wouldn't have shown as much interest.

But you should also see then that what you are doing is sort of along the same lines... all the other people who signed up followed the thread, agreed drafting teams was the fairest way to do it, and if you cared, you wouldn't have said "I'm not going back to read the thread, I'll just drop if I can't be the Cardinals."

Not to mention the Cardinals weren't even taken yet... lol

Anyways, I'll take Texas for something different. Tough decision vs them, Detroit and Seattle... but while the mariners have the best rotation, their offense is old and ugly.

All right, Roger Clemens. Somebody is sure "misremembering". You may have been one of the first who "wanted in the league", but 16 people signed up before you and you ended up on the waiting list. At one point, you were actually on the waiting list for both leagues at the same time...while there were spots open in both leagues (which is why I PM'd Josh asking him if you were going to take the open spot in this league). What does that tell you? The only person getting in your way of having fun with this game is you and your "Cardinals or nothing" attitude. So, have fun with nothing.

Don't worry about it. You are a dedicated person who has kept in contact with this thread daily. You let me know a little while ago about your situation. Whatever happened to your PS3 was beyond your control. We won't be starting until early next week at the earliest. I'm giving you as long as you need. I would much rather delay completing week 1 rather than droping a dedicated player and causing a bunch of headaches week 1.
 
I don't mind waiting until Matt gets his PS3 situation under control within reason, I think all of us could use a little practice before we start league play anyhow. :lol:
