UPDATE: PM me and post here when you're hosting a party, and I'll add it to the front page. Just remember to set the date and time! Look for parties here, movie watchers! I'll update it every day! If there's too many parties going on in the futre, I might assign parties only to a single day or weekend (through a poll). Let me know what you think! Thanks!

THIS WEEK:

NEXT WEEK:

This should be fun :bouncy:

To take full advantage of the "Netflix Party" feature from the new NXE update, I created this thread. Starting Monday, contributing to this thread should be easy as 1, 2, 3!

1.) If you're a Netflix subscriber, recommend a movie that you liked on your "instant queue".
2.) If you want to see a movie that another CAGer liked, host a movie party. ( Set the date and time of the event, and the number of people you want to invite. You can PM them or vice versa for an invitation.)
3.) Get the popcorn, meet new CAG friends, and enjoy the movie!

In the future, we can decide on a permenent CAG netflix party night. Now lets get posting! :)
How well does Netflix work on a 360?

This seems like a good idea, though, so I'll bump.
I don't know about the party feature since I didn't sign up for the dashboard preview thing, but regular Netflix works perfectly.
LET THE RIGHT ONE IN... hands down best HD movie available.
That's in my queue. The description made it sound pretty good. I'll have to watch it now based on your recommendation.
District B13!!!
Backed. For anyone who hasn't seen it, think The Bourne Identity's fight scenes, on steroids, and in French.

Other movies I'd recommend that are Instant Watch would probably be...

-Severance, business trip turns into survival from a group of militants. A British horror comedy.
-Fido, an actual touching tale of a boy and his zombie.
-Road Warrior, no explanation needed.
-Johnny Got His Gun, what the Metallica music video "One" was based off of. Basically a real downer of an anti-war movie about a soldier who gets caught in a mortar blast and loses his limbs and nearly all his senses.
-Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, best Batman movie in my personal opinion.
-Dog Day Afternoon, Al Pacino as a bank robber and the awkward story it tells of his character along the way.
-Falling Down, both Michael Douglas and Joel Schumacher's best movie ever. Basically about a man who's laid off and divorced and decides he's not going to take it anymore and decides to walk home to see his daughter and isn't going to take shit from anyone on his way back.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Superman: Doomsday
Dead Space: Downfall - Prequel to the game
Deliverence - Classic, "He sure do got a perrty mouth, ain't he?"
The Green Mile - Most have already seen this by now, but if not, watch it
Unforgiven - Two of the best actors of all time (Eastwood, Freeman) in one of the best westerns of all time.
Warren Miller films - There are at least a dozen of them. If you're a skier, you'll love them. I'm a snowboarder, and I still really enjoy these films.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I watched Pineapple Express today it was sweet haahha. But yes if you want to watch a movie with me PM to set up a time

I am interested in this. There have been some good recommendations so far, especially Dog Day Afternoon. That is one of my all-time favorites, and you should definitely check it out if you haven't seen it yet.

One that I recently saw that was really good was Capturing the Friedmans. It's a documentary about a father and son accused of abusing neighborhood children, and it's very interesting (I saw it because Cheapy recommended it on the CAGcast a while back).

Netflix Instant is full of great documentaries. Some of my favorites that I have seen recently were American Movie, Bigger, Stronger, Faster, Deliver Us from Evil, Enron: the Smartest Guys in the Room, Helvetica, Confessions of a Superhero, and Frontrunners.

Also, if you like Bruce Campbell (probably only if you like Bruce Campbell), check out My Name Is Bruce.

And Ted Raimi.

What about Bob?

I mostly have only TV shows in my instant queue though. Lost just got put up so if you haven't seen it, check it out.

I will also state that if anyone wants to see Resurrecting The Champ, they need to do it by 8/15. It goes away then.

Lots of good suggestions so far! My wife and I love zombie movies and other horror films. 8PM, we're watching Fido.

I was thinking about spinning off on this and doing a "Sports Flick Night" where sports movies and docs would be watched. Dunno how many people would be interested though.

Also, I'm not sure about the max amount of people that can watch a movie in a party. Anyone know a number on that?

We could all sit and watch an episode of the A-Team, and take a drink every time BA calls Murdoch a "Foo" or someone says Hannibal is "on the Jazz".

where do I sign up for this alcohol poisoning?
Since John Hughes recently passed away, The Great Outdoors, is a fun comedy that many may have not seen.
How can someone not have seen The Great Outdoors before? Unless your like 15, that movie should have been ingrained into you if nothing more than for all the times TBS used to play that film

Compared to other good Hughes' movies; Uncle Buck, Plane Trains, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller, Home Alone, Vacation, the Hughes' Brat Pack films and Beethoven, I would say it is one of the least seen. You are right that it is a well known/seen flick but compared to other Hughes movies it is lesser known.

There's something really wrong and awkward seeing all those movies and then Beethoven at the end. It maybe just me...

I'd never even heard of it prior to reading this thread.

I was 5 years old when the 80's ended.

Watched Primer yesterday, still love that movie even after seeing it like 10 times.

Anyone else's stream quality go up after the update, I gained a bar on both HD and SD stuff, which is important for me since I only have a 1.5Mbps connection.

add me, I dont have a mic. gotta buy another live kit, but I'd like to see if this is any good...

I'd love to get in on this! I watch Netflix movies and tv shows all the time.

Can't wait to get home from work and check out the update. :)

I'm with you Matt, I've never heard of it either.

Yup, mine got one extra bar as well (and I believe same speed as you). Also when internet speed slows down, it recalibrates the speed now in basically 1-3 seconds while the movie/show is still playing.

Were you even born in the 80's? I thought you were a 90's kid.

I Kinda want to recommend "Never Back Down" to watch as a party for the sole sake of being able to say "Holy Shit! I Thought he was going to back down for a minute, but...HE NEVER DID! He will never back down!"

hey guys ide love to join a netflix party. sure i dont have it or anything... but i could get it lol cause i enjoy just chillin with other people and watching some movies. can you do real chat while watching? oh yea and my suggestion would be The Lion King cause i always suggest that when the topic of movies comes up and ive never met anyone who doesnt like that movie lol.
the machine girl and tokyo gore police are two good movies.
yes !

How about NINJA SCROLL !!! It would be awesome to see it with first timers .

I like this idea, very cool. Especially the CAG drinking games. Sounds fun.

I'd go for Primer, so someone can explain to me what happens when I get lost. I need a second viewing of that for sure.

"Go" is a fun one too. Lost gem of the 90's. The Shawshank Redemption is always a great watch.

Lion King isn't on instant watch. Hell alot of animated Disney films aren't on instant watch in general. Only ones I can think of offhand that are, are Wall*E and Nightmare Before Christmas.
Troma Night, who's game?
For the sole sake of discussing children getting ran over by cars is reason enough I want to say...

I'd do a stand up comedy movie night. In between movies, I might allow some open mic jokes. If you want a drinking game, we can take a shot (or swig) every time Eddie Murphy says fuck. My recommendations:

Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious was great, and Joe Rogan was (surprisingly) decent. If you have any other comedians to recommend, let me know.

If that was the game no one would have time for open mic jokes, we would be drinking nearly non-stop ;) But it could be worse if it was to drink every time Eddie says shit.
