CAG PS3 Fighting Game Matchmaking Thread - Injustice out NAO!

Vega and El Fuerte just destroy me online, no matter how good they actually are. And man I would love to get hate mail like that.

I was going to try Ibuki with SSF4 but my input mechanics are still pretty terrible for me to be using a character like that. Think I'm going to upgrade my joystick. Would I have to get a new balltop as well?
 
Paco, are you doing quick match?

Do custom search and set it to same/less skill. I set mine at more skill but it is only somewhat consistent.

Concerning fuerte, I can defend correctly about 75% offline, but like 50% or lower online. There is just a different feel to online. Hence the massive amounts of fuerte players in the old sf4 g1 division.

GG's to Option and J-Cart saturday morning. People kept getting caught in Option's rape trap. I could just imagine you being like 'gotcha bitch!' and pressing X right away.

I used to get a ton of hate mail when vanilla SF4 first came out but not anymore.
 
I finally got a fightstick and I feel like I'm back to square one. I can't even pull off simple qcf motions consistently. I can see how the stick offers much better control but damn I need to train like a mofo to get used to it.

I also saw the complete SF4 costume pack for $6.49 on PSN. Is this a sale price or the regular price?

I don't have a Cromartie wallpaper, I was watching the Animu. And that speaks leagues about you since you were able to identify it in its Japanese name ;)

And the reason you don't get hate mail is because you're WHITE. White people don't get fantastic HATE mail like Mexicans. Hakan seems to get lots of Hate mail, and even some Love mail for his flippant shenanigans.

Lol. I use to get a little hate mail in some games,but I never do anymore. I remember a long time ago playing Tekken 6 someone sent me a message and all it said was fuck you. They thought I was lagging when it was them. Then along time ago in blazblue a guy cussed me out on the mic for no reason. Then before that some kid sent me a hateful message from some game a long time ago. That's the only things I got. All really silly and pointless to me. The kid that sent me a hateful message. I told him to go back to xbl with that attitude. He would fit in better there. :)


I haven't been playing Street lately. I've been sick plus I rented Alan Wake. What little time I play games. I'm playing it. *waits on insults from Paco*

Most of the hate mail I got was from KOF 12 and the fact that I use Leona, Terry, Daimon/Chin. People kept calling me a Taco Bender, a Buritto Swimmer and other colorful insults when they used their totally unique team of Kyo, Robert and Andy/Ryo/Iori/Ash

Nope no mic, but Chin is a Mexican favorite. Mainly because he looks like a lot of Mexican people's uncles where he's short but has that big gut.

Adrenaline was kicking in during the 9th match. (used - viper, cammy, cody, adon, rose, bison, abel)
 
Haven't fired up SSFIV since I went through arcade mode with all the characters... but I'm excited for some CAG tourneys next month!

Noob Story:

Just got the game last week and started playing ranked matches. I have my settings to try to match myself up with higher ranked people for higher BP per match. I play with Guile because I'm too lazy to learn how to play with anyone else. After beating a handful of Kens, I realize that I should be getting close to getting my 10 wins in a row trophy so I check, and sure enough, I had won my first 9 matches in a row. I go into my next match and I get matched up against a Dudley who has like 4500+ BP. I've never played Dudley before and the lack of knowledge + my nervousness over trying to get that trophy resulted in the ass whooping of a lifetime. The higher my BP gets the less likely I will be able to get within arms reach of that trophy. I hate my life. The end.
 
Good Games with option and frank on saturday. Sorry I had to leave early and getting squashed a few times. If both you on, I'll be down to play again.

BTW fuck winning 10 matches in a row. I get 9 in the row too many times to lose under the pressure of the 10th game. I feel your pain Midguy.
 
good games, esper. I figured out from you that short short short dragon punch with sakura wont connect in this game. I would always try that when i chose her (CvS2 tendencies). But i hate jab medium to specials. too risky sometimes..

Played a couple of ranked matches today and I met this one dude through quick search

. Looked at his connection. Green bars = Cool, good to go. Beginning of the match; everything seem fine up until 30 seconds in, lag starts kicking in where I was at 50% health to his 70%. Everything was in matrix mode. I was left vulnerable and tried inputting my specials. Nothing came out, and my opponent took the 1st round. 2nd round starts, everything was fine. Viper's FFF, seismo chains, and burning kicks came out. No lag spikes present, nothing. Played like the usual green bar match. Won that round. Last round; start of the match, everything was cool, and then 20 seconds into the match (my health = 90% to his 60%) starts lagging like the 1st rd, I'm like "wtf is going on here". Specials wouldn't come out again. I'm left with shit. So, I started to backdash towards the corner and tried to play runaway turtle with viper. Weird, yeah I know.


I'm not on wireless. It's either a lag spike or the guy's lag switching at critical moments, I don't know. Just avoid that person when you see him/her/tranny on psn. Looking at the replay seems fine, but the way I played viper shows my unusual/retarded play.

Edit - Looking through the lobbies, I happen to see pad viper(Wolfkrone) on one of the searches. My connection with him = no bars... damnit.

Also, Esper, as far as I know, everyone uses a lag switch. Why I'm mashing Blanka electricity right now as I type this. But yeah, I hate it when I play someone who has green bars and the match lags like a mofo.

Yeah god bless the lag switchers. Green game, when I'm winning it slows down. When they're winning it works fine. fuck em all. fuck them all to Blazblue and Tekken. Hell lets punish them and put them on King of Fighters 2001. That oughta be enough to make em cry.

I gave up on Balrog, Chun Li, Fei Long, and only pick Dudley once in a blue moon.

I went back to the fatness and am having a lot of success. I just need to get perfect at his S.Lk -> S.HP -> GT

yea, its one frame and I plink it.

oddly enough, I have more trouble getting the HP galactic tornado to come out at the end of the combo. for some reason my stick just doesnt want to pick up the down forward motion while on the 1p side. I think i need to get the shit replaced real soon (joystick portion of TE)
 
For playing rufus in a laggier situation (online), you can use the easier link, I think it's 2 frames: s.LK xx s.MP

as for your joystick, do you ever open it up to see if anything is wrong? And is it execution error on your end? because it is downforward that isn't working, which is a combination of forward and down, but you didn't mention forward and down not working...

I used to play a lot of SF2T, SFA2, SFA3, and some 2i and 3s, but hardly any SF4 so your focus attack stuff really messes me up. Are there any local game nights in SD? I know a few SRK people used to live here a few years ago, not sure now.

Yeah I had no idea how to fight against that with characters I rarely play with, it pretty much stuffs everything.
 
Markman is a local sdtekken guy. He hangs out with people who play sf4 and what not. Also was instrumental in the development of the Madcatz TE stick.

I also have a friend who plays casuals with other guys in the south bay area. So maybe I can let you now if there is anything going down. Though, I personally don't go to those casuals that often.
 
Man.. I don't play sf4 for 3 days and get so rusty it's ridiculous. I don't even know what I'm doing. Also, dropped ultras, which hasn't happened in ages, except sim u2.

Yeah I remember Markman, didn't know he helped develop the Madcatz stick.

the problem with lk -> mp is that it doesnt combo to hp galactic on everyone :/

as far as the stick, it just seems to give me problems on the player one side. that down forward is a lot less forgiving than down back. I think Ill just wind up replacing the joystick in the near future

Well, test out your joystick in training mode... it is definitely weird that it doesn't register ONLY downforward (3). There are only 4 "buttons" on a stick. So if say the right "button" on a joystick doesn't work, then you wouldn't be able to do uf,f,df (9 6 and 3).

I do hit training for about 30 minutes a day, if not more. It seems like when I can get that link down in training, thats when my df doesn't want to register at all.

unfortunately, for online play, i've swapped out the combo completely for shitty cr. lp, lp galactic. you can't even compare the damage :/
 
found out my friends are really good. one is sponsored/brings home tourney cash. when asked why sf4, he said that it makes more money. they would prefer kof but the money isn't here.

1000 times this! We'll see how the netcode is on NeoGeo Battle Coliseum when it's released on XBLA, just to get an indication of what KoFXIII's netcode might be like. Let's find out whether or not they've learned from their mistakes. :razz:

They brought Athena back to the 98 level which was incredibly dangerous in the right hands due to unblockable fireballs. Think how you do the Dhalsim Yoga traps. Except Athena moves a hell of a lot quicker.

Also the jump from XII to XIII is fucking IMMENSE. If XII is 94, then XIII is 98. That is how big of a jump XIII is over XII. Plus the b CD attacks are gone and back to the standard version where they take one bar to do.

And since KOF is mainly South America. We need one of these.
