CAG PS3 Fighting Game Matchmaking Thread - Injustice out NAO!
Hey Jman, guess which one of us has friends locally to actually you know, get together and play games offline ;)

Guess which one has the stupidest mechanics in a fighting game. It isn't SC5 or KOF 13. It starts with Crap and ends with Com.
None of my friends plays games so you have a valid point. How dare you diss the almighty Capcom! There not Arc Systems... :whistle2:#
Yeah, I assume every Mexican knows how to play KoF. It's in their blood, just like how it's in their blood to make tortillas and mow the lawn. You're missing out jman.
Missing out being able to play people local or missing out because I'm not no mexican. ;)

See what I did there...

What friends I do have either hate video games or play different games. Its depressing really. I've tried to get them into fighters but it doesn't happen.

Your lucky you got people to play locally. All I have is online.

I know if you had Street Fighter X Tekken you would play it. How dare you diss the almighty Capcom! It isn't like there Arc Systems.:whistle2:#

Maybe they will make a Blazblue Continuum Shift Extend 2 and charge 40 bucks for it. The new features will be another character and some more modes no one cares about. Of course that won't happen I just wanted to be a smart ass.

I actually found a good game in KOF today. There just really rare now. By a good game I mean it still had delay but didn't have any lag spikes. It was smooth. I use to be able to find more games like that but not anymore. One time I thought for sure it was my internet so I fired up umvc3 and umvc3 played like it always does.

I hope you get some shaved ice and grilled corn while you're there, son.

I got my PSN funds in the wallet, waiting for dat skull girls even tho i dont have much interest in it, i hope i like it!

Just tried out Skullgirls online and its fantastic. Every fighter really should use GGPO. I like how you can even search west and east coast in the game. I kept searching east coast and found a game with a ping of 38. Needless to say I think that's the smoothest I've ever seen a fighter online before.
I searched the west coast and pings was mostly around 100ms but it still wasn't a bad experience. The online is really good.

There's only one thing that bugs me in the game but it won't most people. I'm not a fan of the upside down crosses.

LOL fuck no. I get chicken on a stick and burittos and tostadas. Chinese Chicken is mobile food and burittos are sit down. Then I get Churros as snacks and all that shit. Delicious. Lost 60 lbs in one year that the flea market from the five hours of walking a day.

has anyone beaten story mode having the hardest time with Marie's last form considering nothing touches her other than mid range attacks.

Fun game she seriously blows.

AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA have fun with Marie on anything past hard. Parasoul, Peacock, and Valentine have the easiest time with here (not saying its easy though).

Alright guys I can get some info to you guys soon, but I have to wait for the x360 version to drop. Plus I will be gone this weekend, so yeah, have fun with it in the mean time!

PS option: Parasoul is my girl, you touch her, you die. jk jk

Yah, skullgirls surprised me, the online is buttery smooth, graphics are great and the game feels like a mix of UMVC3 + SSF2T + SFxT. Its really fun and plays great. Definitely a great buy. Im also maining parasoul, doing her magic combo into super into another magic combo is super satisfying.

Skullgirls did the online right. This blows that shitty chinese 3rd party sf x t rollback netcode out of the water.

*starts singing Umbrella song*

ELLA-ELLA-ELLA, EH?!

Yeah, right now, I'm using Parasoul like the rest of you sex starved doodes. Though I'm thinking of adding either Double, Peacock, and/or Painwheel. I got some nasty things planned out.

Sometime today I'll add a sign up sheet. Shoutouts to gratuitous boob animations and panty shots.

Parasoul and Double is an awesome mix, which is my team.

I can say without a doubt the most annoy player to play against is Painwheel. Might aswell all learn her now, she has some stuff that will make Magneto wonder why he thought tri-angle jumping was cool.

It is great to finally see this game released, all those late nights, totally worth it.

are the panty shots hotter then what Capcom provides or hotter then Soul Calibur? If so, I might have to buy the game.

Grabbed the demo last night and played the tutorials. Holy shit they werent kidding, that is the best training mode Ive seen yet. Cerebella looks like one of the most solid grapplers out there so I am sold on her. Cant wait to try out peacock, she is my favorite character design.

Skullgirls definitely is a blast. Here are my impressions on the game so far.

+Gameplay/System Mechanics are solid. (No stupid comeback mechanics and lack of unblockables and infinites).
+Great Story mode
+Netcode and Implementation of GGPO is very, very good.
+Looks very good in HD
+Best Tutorial mode in a fighting game.
+Music is great.
+Viewable hitboxes in training mode.
+Accidental pause prevention
+Custom Assist system

-Training mode is very limited. (No auto-block or cpu).
-Lack of modes.
-No support for lobbies, only 1 on 1.
-No movelist (pdf can be got from website)

I can understand that the art style to the game is polarizing. Personally it put me off at first, but when I saw it in HD and in person, I grew fond of it. 240p streams don't do the game justice. Also the animated breasteses and panty shots may put off people but I don't mind it. It makes me think if this game's art was done by Japanese people, it'd probably be more well received. But seriously people need to stop the Japanese dick riding. The art style is an homage to the old western cartoons with some anime influence.

8 Characters I'd say is enough for this game, especially considering the ratio system (1,2 or 3 characters). In the end, I'd say the game is definitely worth the $15, at the very least to support this solid release. If they sell enough of the game, it'll fund support for this game for future patches and possible dlc characters. There are already complete conceptual drawings for more characters by the main artist Alex Ahad.

Rumor has it that Alex has upwards to 100 characters all unique from the rest.

All I can say I am glad the game is finally out, because I can never get back those late nights.

signed up for Skullgirls in OP and option IV there is no f'ng way ur a beginner u slaughtered me in SFXT. im a beginner cause i kinda suck at fighters but keep on comin back for more punishment :) i can't get past the first story level in skullgirls :(

I just had the greatest match on SF3TS and the bitch raged quit....at the very end of the match after I had won. I was going to use the replay to show off my new hori fighting commander pro controller (which is fucking awesome!). I couldnt show the replay but I performed an air parry, then hit with a light punch in air then when I landed first I hit him with the reppa.....oh well.

Only for scrubs mah boi.

Option will never play it because he gets his ass kicked on it daily. Option is close to the tourney scene in San Diego and a Mexican beat him at all KOF games with a plunger which is why he cries himself to sleep when Mexicans challenge him.

Blazblue is dead in America besides a few nerds. Guilty Gear shall return and deliver you from the path of crapulance and give unto you the awesomeness that is a girl with anger.

GG's Thomas

You managed to interrupt me a bunch of times during my SAIII combo's, not to mention poke throws. Not used to getting jabbed so often :p My parrying has definitely gone downhill lately, before I never had a problem with red parries, but now I fudge them so often. Guess its time to hit training mode again.

Nah boy. Playing KOF 13 and KOF 98. Kicking it up every day with those jams. Never gonna be outdated.

Despite being so close to Mexico, no one plays KoF down here. All they play are them Capcum games.

KoF is too slow paced. Brings me back to the CvS2 era (really only how long matches are)... except with ez mode HD combos.

Honestly though, I think KoF is going to die off again. The hype for it is definitely dying down. You can see it (or the lack thereof) on streams and by the time MLG Anaheim passes, you wont see the game until Evo.

But yeah, Skullgirls gameplay > KoF Gameplay. Each character, although there are only 8, are fleshed out. KoF now is like Kyo/Birry, Insert 2nd Character, and Shen as Anchor. That's all I see.

LOL so outdated in your viewing. People moved from Billy to Mr. Karate with Saiki being pretty damn good too.

I don't even see anybody using Kyo except Capcom players. And are you trying to bring back the max from 2k2? Now that's an interesting debate since old players say 13HD is too easy while newer players say 13HD combos are too hard.

KOF too slow? It's faster then Street Fighter, slower then Doujin style. It's neither of them.

Justin Wong left the KOF tourney after he got sent to losers bracket. Gots to practice that SF X Tekken for the money even though he doesn't really seem to rike the game.

Call me when Skullgirls has a roster at least Blazblue level.

You gon get that vita version so you don't have to pay for the DLC?

Say what you want, but I'm going to play whatever I want. I enjoy having grapplers with some freaking mobility and combos. I also like the fact that you don't go into auto mode with HD combos as it's still being controlled rather then some bullshit cinematic. I also enjoy the fact that it settles between the middle so it isn't too fast or too slow. I like that the characters have some different personality then the characters besides what capcom or aksys bring.

I don't like the fact that Nona went with a style that takes fucking forever to get sprites though. I don't like the fact that SNK spends five dollars for their netcode, and I don't like the fact that SNK still acts like it's the 90s and completely disregards netcode to the point where if it works in Japan, it works everywhere else.

I do find it rather funny how you think KOF is going to die again though. Time will tell.

Oh, it will my friend it will. Look at the times the KoF community had a resurgence... Only whenever there was a prize pot involved. I know you love to hate Capcom games but that's unfortunately where all of the attention is pointed to. I'd rather have more/other fighting games on the main stage, but it'll never happen as long as Capcom has the reigns.

HD combos are easy, they're just loops (special 1 xx special 2, rinse and repeat 3-4 times) into whatever ender you're allowed or choose to use. XIII is definitely solid play, and yeah I like it, but the online is some of the worst. What's the point in trying to be good at it these days? Not everyone has a godlike community, so all that's left is online. This isn't the 90s anymore, arcades are dead in the states except for a select few areas. The advancement of the American FGC relies on solid to at least decent netplay. I can definitely say all of the "skill" that I've accrued over the past couple of years was thanks to online. Not some local casual, filled with smelly dudes, and 1 setup to share among 20 people while ignant mofos run up and down the aisle calling out odds on who will win the next match.

And as for Skullgirls roster, I can say that Cerebella is one of the best concepts for a grappler character in ages. I'm still stuck on one character and only now am exploring other characters and what they're capable of. As for KoF, the character choices are starting to settle down. I'm genuinely enjoying Skullgirls for what it is, not for brand name or nostalgia purposes. Why play Leona or Mai when there are much better characters with better tools and damage. It's already settled that Shen is THE best anchor. I'm sure point and 2nd will soon be determined soon enough.

And hey, I'm down for whatever game to be on top, it doesn't have to be Capcom. As of late, I'm disappointed with them. They've raped my wallet with SF x T (now it's quickly dropping in price) and now the main mechanic gems is banned at EVO and forced to play 2v2. Yeah, I'm still reppin' N.A.H. but seriously, if the fighting game community forces 2v2 and no gems, playing the game overall feels pointless. Nothing good comes from when the gameplay is directly tied to money making schemes. Sure, it may work for Magic the Gathering, but this shit isn't a card game.

It's the sad truth, no one plays KoF down here in San Diego, despite being so close to the border. The only people who play fighting games down here are AZN's, white people, and 09'ers. It's easy to see that KoF would not be popular with this crowd and they'd flock straight to Capcom's jock. Look at the Box Arena stream, no mention of KoF at all. Maybe it doesn't help that the sessions are held in East San Diego, a predominantly white trash populated area. I sometimes wish that the sessions weren't held in a place where lifted trucks and what happened on wwe are usually the main topics of the day.

BTW, my heart is blacker than an African.

Im kinda at the point where i cant decide what to play anymore, so i play nothing. Bought all these fighters but i cant pick one to try and find mains in, the fighting market got flooded pretty badly. I dunno, i only play games a few hours a week as it is, it might now be less then that going forward. The silliest part is that i still want to buy more arcade sticks.

That's how a lot of people are feeling. It's especially harder for people who can't transition from one game to the other so easily. Not everyone is a Justin Wong. All you can do is play what you genuinely enjoy. Be it Blazblue, Tekken, or a Capcom game.
LOL like how KOF isn't even in the mix:lol:
Tekken is basically dead in America and only worthwhile overseas. Blazblue is for turbo virgins and only ultra nerds play it. Capcom is getting huge discontent within its fanboys. Which is why Capcom is publishing the sour patch kids game on PSN and XBLA because it's a representation of how they're turning their longtime fans. Also why wasn't Blazblue or Tekken 6 in Norcal regionals? What was there? Oh yeah. KOF 13. You know what got picked over Blazblue? Mortal Kombat 9. You know what else Blazblue couldn't get into? Evo. You think KOF 13 is dying? Hell it's picking up steam offline. Game is dying online, but in its wake it's getting players offline. Have you been to Southtown Arcade in San Fran? Good amount of players there. You know what they got rid of in CSU San Fran? Blazblue. Know what they replaced it with? KOF 13. Who complained? Nobody. Just because you think the game is dead doesn't mean it so. If you actually check the community then the game is very much alive. But whatever. Because the game sucks online it must suck right? I will conceed that as we age, it becomes harder to make those communities and harder to put up with idiots in the same room, but those experiences are becoming few and far between. Why not remember the arcade days Option? Do you not remember fighting someone after they bullshitted you with magic handcuffs?

Fair and balanced Skullgirls gameplay. Found a day after release. Makes me wonder how it's going to turn out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Caen2y0LY8A

I loved Mortal Kombat 9 since they finally made a good one for the first time in years.

I mostly play Capcom fighters, but I do like KOF a lot. Main reason I like KOF is where I use to play Fatal Fury back in the day. I played Fatal Fury 2/Fatal Fury Special when they was first released.

You wouldn't think it by playing me but I grew up playing fighters. If it was released in the u.s I prob have it or at least played it before.

Skullgirls is better than Arcana Heart 3 to me.

I really liked Blazblue when I first played it but then it got old fast.

I didn't say it's dead, I only said it's dying down... But if that's the vibe you're feeling, then maybe it actually will die. And are you kidding me Paco? Tell me somewhere else in the US besides SF, LA, and NY where KoF is thriving. The hype is definitely going down. Even on level up they said their numbers were waning down a couple weeks after they introduced TRB and they had to force people to actually come.

And that video you linked, that Valentine barely knew how to block/air block. Keep away is a valid part of any game. Just because you can just go divekicking in one game with no remorse doesn't mean you can do it in any other game. Besides , Peacock is stricly keep away, that's how she's supposed to be played. Of course there's going to be match ups. Can't avoid that no mater what, as long as a whole cast aren't just clones of each other.

But from my perspective, I'm thinking Skullgirls will simply become flavor of the month, and support for it will wane down soon thereafter. But I truly enjoy the game and will continue to invest time in it, despite what the overall community thinks and not for nostalgia purposes. So far though, the game seems to be doing better than expected. Who knows, maybe there'll at least be a side tournament for it.

I also like how I didn't list Skullgirls. Maybe I should've listed every game out there... Seriously, just play what you want to play.

KoF is definitely a great game, don't get me wrong. But the only games that have had a solid following for over a year has been Capcom games. The online on their games are at least playable. Street Fighter and Capcom brands are iconic. Gameplay is "easy to get into". Not to mention Capcom and major tournaments automatically support their games. Does KoF satisfy any of those? No. Can it survive just on gameplay alone? Maybe. There is a chance that the community can keep going, but in this day and age where the fighting game genre is over-saturated and playable online is considered bare minimum now, good luck.

Skullgirls was very, very well received stream wise at powerup, especially the crazy hype level 3 ending with the team spooky super. The game is very fun to watch as well. I think it'll go quite a bit, but the panty shot stuff is just an unfortunate thing, hard to take the game seriously for many people with things like that in the game.

Finally got skullgirls and gameplay wise it has pretty much stood up to all of my expectations. Can anyone reccomend a guide on ggpo? Like if you encounter X ping you should set ggpo at Y.

Added myself to the list. Im running Cerebella and Peacock right now.

Played a bit more skullgirls demo. I think it's starting to kind of click. But I don't have a standard controller for it. Ugh.
