So Awesome.

Also, http://www.aintitcool.com/node/44943 this plus the expendables means a great summer at the movies.

EDIT: For those still wanting to compare Blur and Split Second, the SS demo is up in the EU store, it won't be on the US store until next tuesday.

Machete looks ridiculous but the cast alone makes it a must see. I'm disappointed that Lawnmower Man Frank Lapidus Jeff Fahey didn't get called out in the trailer, though. ;)

My money's on ModNation Racers, even more so now that I've read the IGN review. I think I'd still enjoy playing Blur and Split/Second but I'm definitely going to wait for some reviews and maybe some price drops before picking either of them up.

Meh, IGN........ not a source I usually go to for good reviews. It does sound like they tightened the gameplay up a lot though so that's great. I'm sure the game will be good, but I am shocked that in this day and age of 120gb HDD PS3s that MNR has long load times.

But I guess that is due to the fact every fucking thing is customizable. I will give MNR a shot if enough of us decide to get it. I do have a $20 Amazon credit coming my way so it won't take much arm twisting to get me to bite.

Did you see Grindhouse? In a movie theater? Like a REAL American?

Apparently not, because if you did you would have heard of Machete before.

Hey guys!

For those of you who have completed RED FACTION. Do you know if you still get a chance to finish all of your Guerrilla Actions once you beat the game? They tend to disappear after liberating a sector on mars

Don't remember, I don't think so??? Dunno.... haha

Game night!!!!! What's the over under that Metaly and Randy show up? Show up guys!

bump for game night

Question it's almost to the one year mark, does this thread have more views, and more pages then the original GTA IV thread?

To answer my own question more responses but less page views then that thread!

Game night!! I haven't plyed this in like three weeks so I'm definitely going to be there. Someone's gonna have to reexplain the controls to me though.

Yes, you do. Once you finish the final mission, you'll start getting calls for the radio missions again. It's a little tricky getting all of them to appear, though. If you're going for the trophy, you should find a checklist of all the radio missions and start marking them off as soon as you can so you know which ones you're missing.

What Flik said, but also, you gotta remember that the point of the game is to let me kill you. Whomever gets killed by me the most in the game wins.

New New Pornographers out this week! As a part-time music snob, I get some smug satisfaction when the Internet doesn't know about one of my CDs yet.

Joystiq's review of ModNation Racers is up:

Hardcore gamers tend to avoid kart racing games without Mario in the title -- and for good reason, too. Ever since the success of Nintendo's original SNES effort, the genre has been flooded with mediocre copycat shovelware, starring mascots of rather questionable origin. (Seriously, M&M's Kart Racing is a real game.) While it may be easy to write off ModNation Racers as just another kart racing game, I was surprised by how well-crafted and deep United Front Games' debut title is. While it has garnered a lot of attention due to its "play, create, share" gimmick, ModNation Racers stands out as a deep, satisfying racer through its gameplay alone.

For better and for worse, ModNation Racers is cut from a far more hardcore cloth than the typically "family friendly" fare in the genre. ModNation demands skill, and no amount of luck will be able to compensate for sheer ability. The weapons are more balanced than in other games: almost no single weapon is as devastating as Mario Kart's blue shell and lightning bolt. The ability to enhance weapons by saving them adds an appreciable level of depth: do you use your weapon immediately, or save up for a better one? And the shield introduces yet another strategic element to the gameplay. These small additions to the gameplay add up to make a far more challenging (and satisfying) racer.

Read the rest here.

Their reviews for Alan Wake and Lost Planet 2 are up, as well.

Lastly, Giant Bomb has posted their review and Quick Look for Picross 3D.

wow i am loving Picross 3D. I just got done with all the Beginner levels and it is hardcore. Slicers and Regular/Circle/Square Numbers. This game is intense and I'm only at 44 stars. Rock on everybody oh yeah and I have been to like 5 MSI concerts. Yay Jimmy Urine! :) if u r real crazy u ever listen to his LeftRights? Darth Vader.
~edit - after reading that review omg I'm happy I canceled my Lost Planet 2 preorder even if it was only 45. Id rather have 3d dotgame heroes anyway :)

MNR sounds like a really solid game, but....

"If there is one major caveat I have with the PS3 version of the game, it's the frustratingly long load times. For a racing game, the experience is unacceptably slow. Not only is there a mandatory install, it will take over a minute to load the game, wait for the logos and reach the game's lobby. From there, it can take upwards of a minute to actually load a race. Navigating from one part of the game to another is a bothersome exercise; the load times are without a doubt the single worst aspect of the game."

I think I am going to wait for a deal or something.

We were talking about Scrubs last night and this popped up on Amazon today: the first 8 seasons on DVD for $89.99 shipped. That's only $11.24/season!

Hopefully they patch that later, like Bayonetta. Either way, I'm fence sitting MNR for now as well.

I just hit 80 stars before going to bed last night and some of later puzzles in the "easy" section were getting really frustrating. I can't even imagine what this game is going to be like when I finally get to the "hard" ones!

I've been to a ton of MSI shows...I can't even remember how many over the years. Did you see them when they were touring for "If" with The Birthday Massacre? Those were some of my Most Fun Shows Ever. They're always good live. Easily the stupidest band that I'm actually a fan of. I saw the Left Rights open for MSI a long time ago but I never bought any of their music...I'll have to look for it.

@allah, we gotta play a bunch in the next few days.

The one I really don't get is the tracer dart. That was fine as is. If you know what you're doing (and the pilot is mildly complacent) it's not too hard to dart anything. I can't wait to see how fast it is when compared to a bullet.

But also, "Decreased vehicle reload speed spec" WTF. That thing did jack shit to begin with.

Oh yeah, those were some badass games last night! That one siege map where the stacked team was held off at the Garage was freaking great. I felt like we were the massive underdogs and held you beasts off.

But I think most matches last night were pretty damn close/awesome.

Except that horrible CTF at the end. Metaly knows of what I speak.

Anyways Scrubs is the best show ever.

Or at least one of them.

Nah it's the best.

The tracer needed a boost to compensate for the way overpowered helocopters. They probably did not need to nerf the choppers and buff the dart, one or the other would have worked. Since I cannot fly worth a lick I'm happy they did both .

I don't think it's my favorite comedy EVER but it's certainly in my top 5.

The "real" UK Office would probably be in there, too, but there are days when I think I liked Extras or Spaced more.

These would also be on my list:

Unless we're including animated comedies and/or sketch comedies, in which case I'd have to rethink the whole fucking thing.

NewsRadio, YES! I believe all of that is on Netflix streaming. It's a little weird watching it now since it has a laughtrack, but it's still great. Everyone on that show was brilliant.

Also I assume nobody mentioned Arrested Development because it's just accepted that it exists on a level above all other shows.

For some reason I could never get into News Radio at all. I tried to give it a chance but it never clicked.

Scrubs is easily my favorite comedy of all time (maybe not overall show since DS9 and BSG are fucking incredible shows I guess Firefly could have been on that list too...... fuck FOX) because I've never seen a show that makes me laugh so consistently, but then punches me in the face and has me crying a few minutes later.

I dunno if I could even classify Scrubs as a pure comedy since it has so much drama in it too. Then again a show with the Todd as a character is probably leaning towards comedy, so nevermind.

If 30 Rock continues for another 4 years at the same quality, it will definitely be giving Scrubs a run for its money in the laughs department. It has a little more wit than Scrubs, but zero drama which is cool, but kind of knocks it down a peg in my books.

Court's been bugging me to start watching that, we'll probably make that our next show to marathon.

dont forget about Farscape. thats my fav show of all time, followed by BSG. Firefly is also money, but not sure where I'd put it...top 10 for sure

If the tracer is anymore than, say half as fast as the slowest bullet in game it's too damn fast.
They ruin part of the game if they make it so anyone with no skill at leading shots can hit a chopper with a tracer and take it down.

The mortar thing is kinda annoying. You already have to land every blast from one strike to kill a tank, now you'll probably need two strikes to kill a tank. Although, an engie could probably heal most of the damage in between strikes, so you'd need two strikes at nearly the same time/sequentially to do it... :/

This is one thing I always hate about online games, they constantly fix shit that ain't broke.
I don't really think choppers are overpowered. It's just people don't have a clue how to take them down/there's not enough ways to take them down. Some other things they could do. Increase the y axis range of SATs. Make choppers vulnerable to standard gun fire (they don't seem to be now, could just make it LMG fire). Teach people how to lead shots in secondary tank guns/emplaced HMG. Have AA tanks/emplacements on maps with heavy chopper use.
