CAG/PS3 Red Faction: Guerrilla Night [Thursdays @ 10pm EST]

No I didn't get the collector's edition, but I got two 7 hour codes anyways. I already gave one to Metaly, and if another friend of mine doesn't want my second code, you can have it!

I'll confirm in a couple hours.

Also, I really shouldn't have stayed up till 3am playing SC2 last night. Oy vey.....

I started a gameshare for Section 8, and I have free shares to give to those of us who want one! I only have two one shares left... PM me if interested. ;)

(Offer good for GFB only... Don't even think of PM'ing, lurkers!)

EDIT: All gone!
So what are we up for tonight lads?
Depends on if I feel like grinding back up to an acceptable level after rebirth number 2.

Tonight is Wednesday... that mean WKC.

@bubbles...
You don't need to grind, just join us as is like I did last week.
I know, I was bring ironical  I don't game on Wednesday nights
I was talking to zen.

No WKC for a week... What are you, sick?

IDK, it feels like a week. Also pretty much devoted myself to getting through FF13 since I got on Thursday so I can trade it in or something.

Can't make it tomorrow I've got stuff going on...work stuff my wife has dental surgery, and I've got company in town tomorrow night

Weird how it always drops now right after the last game... It's getting smarter. :whistle2:k

Good games, everyone. Good to see such a big turnout again.

Did anyone else happen to pre-order their copy of RFA from THQ for the free t-shirt?

I just noticed that they charged my credit card TODAY...for a game that comes out in 7 months. That's bullshit, right? Isn't the standard on pre-orders to charge you when the item actually ships?

I was just about to say "How does the game know this is the last round?" but got cut off.

And yeah, charging before shipping is BS. Though I've seen other places do it.

Section 8 was... fun, but I don't know how long it'll last if we only play against bots... Would be better if it were all humans.

Metaly, another one of the great PC series has consoled itself:

This really saddens me, I know the PC one will most likely be different and better, but still I was hoping for zero compromises. This sucks
Nice, now I don't have to worry about buying Battlefield 3 on the pc!
This.
What's Battlefield? Is that like Halo?
It's like Bad Company but set in the past.

Can't you guys do another share?
Yes, someone make another group... It's a bit lonely in that vast online world for just 6 of us.

So, what are those of us not cool enough to have blur doing tonight?
I say we do a few hours of big red ii runs.

Please, something, anything! I need to escape from FF13 for awhile. WKC, Alien Swarm (yay with my laptop fixed I can skype again!), BC2, Section 8 (Need to play that), RFG, U2, R2, Warhawk, anything at all is fine (As long as I have it of course)!

Haha, how far into FF13 are you? I got about 12 hours in, have tried to play it again like 4 times and the game cannot hold my interest very much. I hope to try one more time later this week because I found the game pretty fun to play, but the story is so fucking meandering that I can't get engrossed in the game!

I'm 25+hrs in at the part where you can roam around, but even that feels pointless.

Not really spoilers but a long ass rant

It's, it's, it's, it's ARGH! That's what. The main meat of the story is about the characters but all stuff that sets the tone for them AKA why everyone is f'd up in the first place happens 12 days before the game starts. So you get flashbacks. Why? Because they couldn't design a game around those parts of the story. And even then, as you watch the story unfold it's near incomprehensible until... you read the text entry about the shit you just saw in you datalog. REALLY. It makes more sense as text.

Battle system so far to me has been, mash x to autobattle while switching party's role types. It's annoying to me. I find the whole stagger system (do the right kind of attacks to make the enemies easy to kill) annoying as well. I'm 25hrs in and I die more often from a group of enemies adding just 1 more then I do from bosses. And the summons? So far, useless. I'm sure I'm doing it all wrong. That said, to have gotten this far in and still doing it wrong, means they didn't teach me right in the first place.

In a lot of RPGs, the whole 'party leader dies, GAME OVER' BS ain't such a big deal. But in this I've caught my healers sometimes just dicking around when I know they could be healing me. it's like the AI every now and then just drops the ball. At least when you GAME OVER you can retry right before that fight. Sometimes you get thrown into battles with characters you might not have been using so shit isn't set up for them, good thing you can pause and just retry right away. And then when the game launches you into the battle the second time, the menu pops up as if to say "You failed last time since your shit wasn't ready. Here we'll give you that chance now." THANKS FF!# How about doing that the first time!

I have that constant "in a dungeon" feeling. Since there are no real "towns" to visit and the sidequests are all of the "kill this" variety, the world lacks any real feeling to it. I have no idea who anyone is in this game except the main characters basically (I really don't want to know them, they're BORING). Even the bad guys are enigmatic. I have no clue what they
really
want (they keep revealing I've been had whenever answers are promised so I no longer even trust what I think I'm doing anymore).

Don't even get me started on the world design and what people are actually wearing. Square Enix, ditch the neon glow tubes and brightly colored neon frogmen outfits for your henchmen. They look like Johnny Quest mooks at a rave!

I'm just waist deep into this mess, and the game keeps throwing shit at me. I just want to get to the ending, and get rid of it. :bomb:

Also very glad I only paid $20 for this and no real hopes.
