I have a really stupid question and I know its stupid, but I've always wondered. For example if you buy a game off of psn that requires a online pass. Besides buying the game do you have to buy the online pass? Or does it come with it somehow?

I believe every game you buy off of the store comes with an online pass.

It was a few days ago. There's some discussion about it on the Amazon forums. It's quite unfortunate because they had a few items that were cheaper than the PS Store.
