Q: How does gamesharing work?

A: It's simple. Once you buy a game, that game is tied to your PSN ID. Basically all you do is give someone your account info, and they click "download again." Both players will have the game, but remember, don't delete the account from your PSN, or the downloaded game will be gone!

Q: This whole gamesharing thing sounds sketchy to me. Is it legit?

Q: Feedback should be left for this transaction, right?

Q: For games that aren't available in the US store, can you can play them on your main US account? Trophies, saves, etc aren't effected?

A: Yes. They will be saved under the user profile that you play them in, however, virtually all games have a different save file for each region, so you would not be able to continue your US save file on a UK game, for example.

Additionally, there are some games that will have more than one trophy list. While you could normally earn some trophies on one region of the game and earn the rest on the game from another region, you would not be able to do it with games from a region that has a different trophy list.

Lastly, when purchasing games from another region, it's important to consider any differences in online play, as some games will separate players based on region.

Setup FAQ

Massive changes were announced on November 4, 2011 that have affected the gamesharing community. Gamesharing is still possible but operates quite differently now.

Changes include:

1) Content purchased AFTER 11/18/2011 will be limited to 2 system activations.
2) Content purchased BEFORE 11/18/2011 will still have 5 system activations
3) It is now possible to deactivate systems remotely* from your PS3 via Qriocity. (frees up activation slots held by bricked PS3s)
4) PS+ works in a similar fashion, everything downloaded before the 18th can be downloaded 5x, anything after can only be downloaded twice.

*This can only be done once every 6 months.

Different How-To's and Tips for gamesharing

How to Host a Gameshare Group:

1) Create a dummy email account*

2) Create a dummy PSN account (Qriocity.com has the easiest interface)**

*It is recommended that the password of the email and the PSN account are different and recorded somewhere safe. That way, account stealing will be easier to prevent.

**It is highly recommended that you write down the date of birth you used in the creation of the account. It is crucial in retrieving passwords.

PRO TIP:
Currently, all purchases made on PSN are tax-free, so put any address you want.

3a) Add your CC to the dummy account and purchase the agreed upon game.

3b) Buy a PSN card from your local retailer and redeem it in the newly created account.

PRO TIP:
Receive all the payment first before buying the game. Though it might slow the process down, it will keep you safe.

4) REMOVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION

PRO TIP:
Don't even think about forgetting this step.

5) Share the game with your CAG buddies and enjoy the game!*

How to deactivate your PSN ID from your PS3:

1) Log-in your PS3 using the account you want to deactivate

2) To deactivate, go to Account Management -> System Activation -> PS3 System -> Games -> Deactivate

3) To delete your account from the PS3, go to Users on the far left side of the XMB and delete the user your PSN ID is attatched to.

NOTE:
Step 2 frees up one of the 2 (previously 5) possible shares on the PSN account.

Step 3 frees up one of the 16 maximum slots on your PS3.

Gamesharing 101

1) Never change the password for the account, so that the others could sell it when they do not need it anymore.

2) When sending payment (via PayPal I'm assuming), always type in your CAG username in the accompanying message.

3) You can only have a maximum of 16 user accounts in your PS3 and thus, only have a maximum of 15 game share accounts (15 plus your main account = 16). Deleting a user account will free up one of the 16 slots available for your PS3.

4) Games purchased on a game share account can be played on your main account. Great for trophy hunters.

5) Only 2 people can 'share' a PSN account (You and 1 other)

6) Always keep a text file of your username password so as to not forget them.

There are several reasons why a Paypal account can get limited. While the following steps will not lift all reasons for limitations, it will be your best bet to do so.

1) Log-in and check all information that Paypal requires.

2) Submit all the required information all at the same time. You can take your time submitting it but be sure to submit it all at once. The council can immediately decide the fate of your account when you submit a required information. Your best chance is to submit all the documents at the same time so as they have all the facts with them as they convene.

3) Immediately call Paypal. Toll-free number is 1-888-221-1161.

Hours of service:
4:00 AM PST to 10:00 PM PST Monday through Friday
6:00 AM PST to 8:00 PM PST Saturday and Sunday

Reason: Letting the council decide your fate is risky. Even if the reason for the limitation is somewhat petty, as long as it breaks the ToS, they will immediately limit your account. A better way to go about this is call Paypal right after you submit all the required documents. The Paypal CSR can lift a limitation but cannot reopen a closed Paypal account. Once the CSR sees that all the required information has been provided, they will most likely lift the limitation on the spot. If they are not so keen, they will asjk questions about the limitation. Be prepared to answer them. If they feel that it is sufficient enough, they will lift your account as well.

You have a much higher chance to have your account lifted if you talk to the CSR simply because you can easily explain yourself.

I believe there is some truth to all of these statements. If I recall correctly, the difference hinges on the size of the onboard NAND in your specific model. I believe the 256MB module contains the firmware and account information completely, so should work to transfer phantoms. If it's the 16MB module, you will have to reactivate any shares after the upgrade is complete.

I personally have a fat 60GB BC model and all shares transferred without reactivation when I upgraded the HDD.

I'm starting a new idea where if you buy/trade/rent anything from me you will receive virtual points that will go toward a "reward" that can be used to "redeem" one of the choices below for discounts on any future involvement with me. These rewards will be 10%, the amount of how much the item you purchased.

Ex/
New Resell is $20, which would be 2 credits
New Phantom is $10, which would be 1 credit

Any other amount would be 10% of xxxx unless noted
ex/ 10% of $3 would be 0.3 credits

You will also earn 5% credit if I buy anything off of you!
If I have any pre-loaded accounts you would like to buy for your group/need it for hosting, each member will receive 1.5 credits. Buying my pre-loaded accounts actually really help me out! For more details on the account, check the separate statement about the below!

I haven't listed PS4 slots because PS store site says PS3 version entitles only Vita's version at cross-buy, no mention to PS4.

Would be great if this is right since could cut down the prices for all spots. Can anybody confirm that?

If that is possible i will add you to the group for sure.

yeah he owns his accounts and phantoms them out and calls sony to reset or something like that he is cool otherwise no red flags.

That is funny they only list that on the store because, yeah, Zen is really good about cross-buy. I tested it a while ago and the PS4 version checks for all your old content and unlocks it.

Am I the only one who is having a 3D effect when looking at the red/blue contrast?

I have a suggestion, if that's cool. The feedback tracker spreadsheet is split into 2 list. The actual list and the one specifically set aside for worthless people. They should be joined. I can easily see newer guys missing the 2nd list.

Very cool of you take over the list BTW.
