CAG PSN Gamesharing - Find/Create a Gameshare Group & Gameshare FAQ

Alright, here is the deal. Both Me (mwestep) and Happy would like to get a group going that will buy most (if not all) of the worthwhile PSN games. Games that cost $10 (or $15 in rare cases) and under are dirt cheap split 5 ways.

If anyone that has a mindset like this, and wouldn't mind putting forth a small amount for games that you might not want (if everyone in the group decides that they dont want it, then makes no sense to buy it), PM me or Happy and maybe we can get something going.

The point of this group is just to have one account for the five people in it that will be able to get almost everything and anything for the future of PSN, so it will cut down on extra account sharing for one or two more games, and so you won't reach your maximum account limit on your ps3.

Definitely something I would like to join.

And on a side note, any Rock Band Groups out there? I'm going to be buying the game soon.

And on a side-side note, Fat Princess looks amazing.

Yeah Fat princess is on my list of must play games too, seems like all of the 1upyours guys love it, along with the IGN: "Holy Crap. I've Found the Game of E3."

alright lets do this!I'm so stoked for multiplayer SSHD :)

Also, if anyone is assembling teams for Fat Princess, Wipeout, Pain, Pixel Junk Eden, Ratchet and Clank, please just include me in the list. I check this thread daily and just include me in any of the lists you do :)

Pixeljunk Eden release date of July 31st. I'm ALL OVER IT. mwestep, I'd probably like to join your group. split 5 ways these games are cheap! If someone backs out for a game or two not a big deal can always find another person to fill in the spot here and there. I'm on these boards everyday so I'm good for it.

Once we make a group the 5 people are final, that's the tradeoff for saving the extra user spots. I know that I'd be willing to put in a few extra dollars for a game I may not be so interested in here and there as long as others are too (that said I don't think anyone will be looking for the PSEye wallpaper things even though I won an eye now).

Yeah, there is really no option of backing out of a game, and having someone else fill in. If everyone doesnt want the game, then so be it, we wont download it. Only exception is the addon packs for games... normally dont think we will download them, unless everyone has the game or something, not sure, i am sure it is something that we can go on a game by game basis.. I got a few PM's and I will try to go through them.

Just keep in mind that this group will be in it for long term. Main focus of this group is just to have one reliable psn account to get pretty much every PSN game that will be coming out. Side benefit to this is that we will get a shitload of games for cheap, and we don't have to make risky game sharing of our main accounts to maybe get 2 or 3 games. New PSN games dont tend to come out more than once every 2 weeks or so.

Hopefully we will be able to set up a forum on this.

http://caggamesharing.aforumfree.com/index.htm

But I am not sure who to talk to, and maybe someone here might know who I can talk to to maybe getting something set up.

Do any of you guys have questions/comments/concerns? Something that should get ironed out before we make this "official"?

Thanks for putting this together, mwestep. Since I'm new to the PS3 community, getting my MGS4 bundle last month, my concern surrounds my ability to get access to games that may already be pretty popular in the group and everyone already has. For instance, will I have trouble getting something like Super Stardust HD (a very popular/good PSN game I'm told) because everyone else already has it?

I can see the challenge getting people to buy things they already own. So do we just say spend the group's $$ only on stuff released after the team is formed?

Also, are we only talking about PS3 games? I have a PSP but am less interested in what the PSN store has to offer for the PSP.

Thanks again.

Dr. SP

i would like to start up a group like that too. i don't want to continue add a new account for each game expansion. I would be willing to get all the bigger upcoming games, we just need to make sure we find people who won't flake out.

I'm a mod on that forum, I can get you guys setup if you'd like. I just need the 5 people to (a) signup at the forum, (b) I'll need a list of the people who signup so I can make a forum for them.

Just for reference on my situation, I already have PJM+ expansion, SSHD and the solo expansion (no real interest in multiplayer), Tekken, and Pain (I could go either way on the amusement park thing). I also don't have a PSP so no interest at all in that stuff.

I haven't done this before, but it sounds like it has been messy in the past. I wonder if any team has played with the idea of setting up definition about what would be spent. For instance, a team could have a rule that "we expect to have a $25 buy in per member and spend an amount not to exceed $xxx without approval of the team."

When we start saying "bigger games" and other terms that are left to interpretation I wonder if that is where the problems start. Also, many teams seem to have open-ended timelines. Perhaps a team could set up a "potential expiration date" meaning the initial commitment is, let's say, a year and then a member could get out with less guilt at that point. Or the team could keep going. If we believe Sony when they say the PS3 will have a 10 year life, then there a lot of PSN action ahead. It may unreasonable to leave it open as "forever."

Just a thought off the top of my head. Like I said, I'm new to this sharing biz.

We have to find people who can access their paypal without issues and who don't mind buying a game they're not personally interested in for the group's sake. Like, let's say I have no interest in Pain, I'll still put down the $2.50 no problem cause I know that maybe some other guys aren't too hot on Everyday Shooter but they'll buy in for the same reason, and if we get a strong 5 it's only like $2.50 for each game.

16 is the max...oh shit. How much will this cost upfront, I might be up for this too.

I'm up for one of those long term groups buying pretty much every new release, whoever is going to put the next one together just add me to your group. PSN is Doppy.

I do agree that it is unrealistic that something will be "forever"... but I am hoping somewhere around 1-2 years in the group... possibly longer, just really depending on how things go.

Issues will arise that are beyond our control, and we will just have to work with that as we go along.

agreed. let's start a long term group up then. i really haven't a problem buying a game i'm not too interested in, if it's in the best interest of keeping the group moving. Maybe set a cap of $20 dollars per game (not that games above $20 would be shareable, anyhow). With 5 people, 20 dollars would be.. what? less than $5 each with paypal fees? Sounds great to me.

i'm trying to think of a way we can have a better chance that someone won't just decide to leave the group at the drop of a hat. maybe only include people who have a lengthy history on CAG?

Ya, that's a concern - what if people just drop from the group.

I also would like to join a group if it were only for new releases. Don't really fancy the idea of buying something I already have, even considering the cheap price of it all. I would like to focus more on future releases. Not necessarily everything that comes up, but instead have a vote where 3 out of 5 means we should buy it.

I don't know about other people but I would definitely be in it for the long haul, especially with all the future games that have my interest. Ratchet, Last Man, Eden, Elefunk, Fat Princess, etc.

Having a lengthy history won't guarantee people won't leave, and it excludes people like me that just came here. As I've been trying to say, I would love to get into one, or multiple long-term groups. Even if it would be one for Rock Band songs, one for new games, and one for older games, it would still be cool. The kids love Rock Band, but jesus it gets expensive trying to get the songs by yourself - leaves me with little money for games I want to play.

I've just dropped another 10 today on more RB tracks, so yes, my desire to join long-term groups is very high.

:)

whats the account limit by teh way, sicne all this talk about a long term group.

also, about the old sshd group, I dont really want the next add on, since its a mp only one, but I said we'd get it so I'm committed to do it and to save some people an extra account. Jsut pm me or paypal me whatever. I'll buy it soon.

I tested it recently and each PS3 can have up to 16 unique users maximum.

ehhh, sort of weak. I got like 9-10 considering I have a few region accounts, like japan and UK. Hmmm if i delete them they dont count towards the limit right? So I can just add them/delete them as I please if I want to dl something from the japan store or something.

You can add and delete all you want, but if you delete one that you downloaded a game off then that game will also deactivate. I.E. if you delete the one you downloaded SSHD off then you'll no longer be able to play the game.

Yeah, staying in long term is definately a concern, as is dishonest people.

But I sent a pm to everyone in our little "group" and just waiting for response back to hopefully get a subforum going and get this moving.

sent you back mwestep.. I'm all for a "buy in" to show that I'm in for it. I just want to give you a heads up that I am moving at the end of this month so I may be off the grid (no internet) for a week or two. The soon we set this up and I can buy in the better, that way I can be apart of the community. I don't want to miss out on this long term group =D. I joined late last year but I have 1400 posts.. so I hope I'm trustworthy.

Hey all. I am looking to join a group here. I am about to buy a game, and would like to benefit from this sharing. Is there any game I should buy in particular that would help a group out or anything?
I also buy lots of Rock Band DLC.

Please let me know what to do to get in on this. :)

Alright guys I'm forming a second long term group.
Potential people so far?:

The way this works is any game release that's shareable that's released from this Thursday on onward. We will buy everything and all the major add-ons (like SSHD additions) but not things like Pain characters and those penny pinching variation. We'll vote on each purchase (3 out of the 5 needed to buy). I can send out PMs every week with potential buys and you can just say yay or nay. Then I send a mass PM with the results and we send the cash to a US CC holder (LinkinPrime?) and that'll be that. This will be at least until the very end of 2008 so I think a $20 deposit to a pool of cash is fair. Are you guys in?

that would work for me. for nearly 1/5 of the price, i'd be willing to try any of the games coming out. we should definitely have some sort of forum to discuss as well.

Of course. PM thing was more of a convenience thing and so we don't have lingering members.

Definitely interested and I have no problem being the guy that makes the actual purchase. 3/5 required to buy sounds great.

We can make a private social group here in CAG instead of a forum.

Only thing I'm not 100% on is the $20 deposit, maybe knock it down to $10?

It sounds great and I'm in. Although I'd like to know how interested you guys are in retro games and PSone classics? Personally I really don't want either unless it's something really great. And also the only other game I see that I wouldn't play at all is Siren and since it's gonna be released in episodic content I really wouldn't want to waste a large portion of the money on it. Are you guys gonna want that? And this won't include retail game downloadable content, because I buy all my multiplatform games on 360, right? Of course if there's a Sony exclusive we all own we could get content for that.

im interested in a group for 5 games.

i only have go sudoku and tekken DR.

i want
calling all cars
pixel junk racers
and whatever else is good i dont know whats good for these games...

as long as the first 2 are included.

Would work for me. Curious if the MGSO add-ons are able to be shared, since you don't buy them through the store per-se. Just caught my eye on kotaku that the first map/content pack is being released today.

I wonder if other companies are going to start having their own stores through the PSN like Konami, and if you'll be able to share their content - if other people go that route and make it un-shareable, it's going to kinda suck. Anybody buy the pack/plan on buying it, and try sharing it?

I 'm thinking that our group should probably just be in regards to the PSN as not everyone will have every PS3 game. If you put in your money into buying a PS3 add-on and you don't even have the game, it's useless...at least when it comes to PSN games, even if you may not want it, you can use it. For instance, we can have 3/5 people want new COD4 maps, but those are a waste for someone who doesn't own it for the PS3. Personally, i'd stilll be willing to put my money towards add-ons to PS3 games, but i'm guessing there are others who would disagree.
Also, add-ons to current PSN games that not everyone may have may not be a good idea. Obviously, with a 5/5 vote we could and should still purchase. Another rule idea, maybe a 5/5 vote for anything above 30?

...just a couple ideas that ought to be tackled before we start a group. Like I said, i'll be in even if we bought game content or whatnot....it only ends up being a couple dollars per add-on anyhow and, in the long run, we're still saving a ton of money. I just want everyone to know what the deal is before they get in.

MGO/Konami stuff is not shareable. I suspect Konami setup their own store for the exact reason as to avoid gamesharing/getting all the money for themselves.

Sounds good, so we need to come up with a list of all the stuff we want to buy upfront. Also, we obviously need confirmations from everyone else listed in the above group.

oh..and ratchet & clank

Same here, I want all of those plus fat princess, crash commando, rag doll kung fu, the pain amusement add on, bionic commando rearmed, the last guy and if its shareable socom. So yeah I'm basically up for everything except Siren and most retro/PSone classics. If we can get this going soon since elefunk is coming out today it'll be cool. I think depositing $10 into whoever is going to be purchasing the games is the best idea for the near future.

Retro games and classics will also be voted on. I will not include disc based DLC unless its wildly popular and/or PS3 specific. I think if the group shows strong interest in it we might. My plan with Siren is to vote on the first episode and if we vote yes and enjoy it and vote yes again we'll buy a second ep. Siren as a whole will cost less than $10 a person anyway (and thats only if we vote to continue or else its just $2.50. And I'll cut down the buy-in to $15 but I urge everyone to have money ready as July has a lot of releases.

I created a social group here on CAG so we can discuss our game choices and vote here on CAG, have we locked down the 5 members?

If we want Elefunk I can create the PSN account and purchase the game this afternoon.
