ive been looking almost a few days a week for about a month trying to find damn socom at HWV. no luck so far.

Kidnapped? We've had Tues/Sun nights since Socom came out last year.

Good games last night everyone. My favorite part was Lethal making it a point not to lose on Frostfire after getting murdered in Desert Glory :)
 
Yeah I got no damn power at my house. So I went out and bought one of those car chargers to normal plug converters and every time I turned my TV on it blew the circuit thing. Hopefully it comes back on soon b/c its hot as hell.

By the way, Target has the Socom bundle on clearance in some areas. I saw it for $40 I think at 30% off. Hopefully it hits 75% and we can get some new blood. The warhawk bundle is also at 75% off for $20, but the headset is not official.

I've already purchased this game twice. Once for the headset and the download version because I'm too lazy to switch to another game and was playing so much I was worrying about frying out my ps3 like md did. Both purchases have been worth the $

Hmm, now I'm kinda tempted to buy the dl version of the game. I've been borrowing my friend's physical copy for a very long time since I started. And sometimes I'm too lazy to swap discs, too, haha.

Tuesday Bump!

Bundle was 42 at my local target today, they only had two copies in the bottom of the glass case with the rest of the ps3 games.

Socom will never be a greatest hit, it doesn't exist to SCEA.

Also, I think us socom people should look at the operation flashpoint game coming to ps3 in October. It looks interesting especially with 4player coop.
 
Hmm didnt know about the 4player Coop. Ive been keeping tabs on the game, since I slightly enjoyed AA in 3rd person view. This is FPS only, but still has potential
 
I'm looking to grab the next copy of this game I see cheap, or trade something for it.

My PS3 is out of comission right now, but I'll be able to play with you guys soon I hope.

Used to play Socom and Socom 2 every day until Socom 3 came out, so hopefully I won't suck too bad.
 
It seems most people who played Socom2 online are good at this game from the start. Either way us CAGs really don't care. Fun either way!

Claymores are great except when you kill your own teamates with them, sorry gen. Teamkill and stealing a mvp, I was not nice to you tonight.

Well Option is #1 on my list, luckily he is smart enough to know not to stand on that road 2 rounds in a row, because he was getting a knife in his back if he stood there again.

Haha esper, that was a luck shot. I saw you jump in the water and guessed right. I was amazed myself that it even hit you, let alone killed someone.

Sorry about that man. I need to figure out a safe button to put the knife on.
 
Try the six shooter setup. I really find the L3 look over the shoulder view change to be very convenient and smooth if you use over the shoulder view. Plus knife is set to the circle button (hold to change fire rate).

I just find knife set to R3 as bad, since you're looking around most of the time and rarely knifing at all.

I would describe the setup as a mix between uncharted and GTA with the fire button set to R1 and L1 as the talk button.

There is a glitch with the Six Shooter scheme where L1 works as the talk button in game, but on the lobby screen, it's L2. A little hassle, but barely worth mentioning.
 
I seem like the only person that has no trouble having the knife on L3.

Classic View >>>>>>>>>>>>>> OTS, I wish that OTS was removed completely if you pick classic view, its very annoying to have to go through that view before/after looking though a scope.
 
Yeah, I was all about OTS until I changed it to classic when they made it so you had to hold down x to switch shoulders. I actually have a custom setup that works pretty well except for the knife. I have it on the circle, which is the same button I use to switch weapons, but I do that a lot. Maybe I'll swap the fire rate with the weapon switch since I hardly ever change the rate anyway. Thanks for the tip.
 
I kind of like the OTS view, especially with the camera switch on L3. Sometimes I still push L3 to try to switch shoulders in RFG. I do wish there wasn't that extra, zoomed-in view that MrB is complaining about, though. A CoD-style scope view on L1 would be great, but I get the feeling that they avoided that on purpose just to make scoping a little more cumbersome.

As much as I love the M14, I got tired of reloading it last night so I switched to the M60. :D Pretty cool gun.
 
I used to be for classic view, but I get a bit more angle and detail on one side with OTS which I prefer. Coupled with a simple press of the L3 (no need to hold), it gets really fluid transitioning from one shoulder to the other.

Yeah, I think that'd be a good move condor. I don't even change fire rate, so it would make sense to couple that with a low priority action, such as knifing.

Now one problem I have is the taunt talk button. I've been good about it, but once in a blue moon during a firefight, I don't happen to hold the talk button long enough and bring up the taunt orders screen. I still have yet to find a way to fix this.

Hey we have a date, that makes me very happy. There is no way in hell they were going to put a date on this patch unless they were 100% sure they were releasing it. They screwed themselves announcing this too early thinking it wouldn't take this long. They were not going to give a date and then delay the patch again.

They don't post change logs period. There is a thread in the socom forums demanding one, but there is no response to it so far.

All we know about the patch is this (gameplay wise):

1. Bolt action sniper rifles (not SASR) and Desert Eagles will be one hit kills to anyone with light or medium armor on.
2. Suposedly many glitches have been taken off maps.
3. Ladder climbs don't get heard across the map. (I never hear the ladders but everyone else seems to.)
4. Medleys (what we play on CAG nights) are now 5 minute rounds instead of six minutes.
5. Kill cam time is reduced.
6. Target spotting (the red dot on minimaps) default to off. This is a huge change to me.
MOST IMPORTANT CHANGE: FAMAS accuracy down.

Non-gameplay changes:

1. Clan battles and tournaments
2. Join games directly from friends list. (Still don't know if it includes quick matches but probably not).
3. Lots of other stuff.

Just to show me up, Socom w/o headset is becoming a greatest hit (along with uncharted 1) on August 16th. (Hopefully target will clearance uncharted for 10/15 bucks like GT5:p and rachet
