GAME NIGHT BUMP!!!!

After glitching my way to getting the Golden AK, I think I'm now down to 3 guns I do not have kills with. I'm thinking of switching to shotgun specialization to get Vera, plus that would help me toward one of the last 2 elites I need. Since I cannot use the Tilly if we needed a sniper during a clan match, might as well switch it up.

It also needs to be noted that last night md had the sickest knife run in history. If Option had been recording it, it could have been used as a training video for years to come.

Well, we lost both matches yesterday. Nice try though guys. Unfortunately, my game froze on the first round of the first match...

And I'll try to record every now and then. My bad on missing mds epic knife streak.

MDAMORE IS THE NASTIEST KNIFE WIELDING NINJA EVER. I was replaying it in my head over and over. Probably the coolest shit I have seen in my 350hrs on Confrontation.

can you guys recommend a n00b friendly server to play on? haven't played since the beta and want to try and get into a more challenging fps experience.
 
Just pick a well occupied server closest to your area and scroll down and find a respawn. They are unranked so anything you do there is purely for practice or fun.

thanks, i read the OP's pointers and will give it a shot this weekend. My nephew tried some ranked the other day and got booted for being a n00b and he is way better at this than me.
 
Hey guys! I was able to actually get on for a little while tonight and just practiced on some infinite re-spawn servers. I did pretty well considering I haven't been on in a while and I was worn out from work and a work out. I went either 1:1 or 2:1 every time.

I should be able to play a lot more in the coming weeks because my gf will be resuming law school classes (holy crap do law students have a ton of reading/work to do!) and I will be getting a new job (hopefully) in the next 2 weeks. My current job has been keeping me way past my "quitting" time...and I'm not getting paid extra for it.

By the way, I'm loving this game more and more every time I play it. I got the map pack, but I don't know which maps are new and which are old because I'm new to the game lol. The M4 seems to be my main weapon of choice and does a ton of damage. I took out a group of 4 guys with it pretty easily. Any other weapons/combos that everyone else seems to like more?
 
M4 is statistically the best weapon for Commando side. I like mine suppressed with a front grip. Mercs have the AK or VAL or 552 whichever fits your style. AK is loud, VAL small clip, 552 kind of weak

The new maps are Vigilance, Blizzard, Entraptment, Uprising, and Nightstalker.

Weapons I prefer are the AKs, specifically the 47 and the 74 since both are pretty accurate and do very good damage. These are more for long distance shooting as opposed to CQC.

There are also smgs, but honestly those are for rushing (in a camping oriented game...) and unfortunately get downed by ARs IMO.

As for secondary, stick to the model 18. If you're a commando, try to pick one up ASAP.

If you want to go sniping, it's really about the semi automatic rifles (SASR, SR-25).

This game unfortunately is dominated by ARs and on the new maps, sniper rifles. But you can always do well with the other weapons, just need to play a little differently.
 
Too bad i Cant Aim to save my life on a gamepad other wise i would play (i bought the bundle just for the mic a year ago on sale at bestbuy)
 
Just takes practice, is all. Too many games out there are saturated with auto aim/aim assist. That's the beautiful thing about Socom, the aiming is all you. There's always CQC where you can just spray and pray in the general direction.

It's easiest to find a variety of respawn games if you stick to the top group of US West servers. Since these are listed first they seem to fill up quickest which gives you more choices of game modes. You can usually find a demo respawn as well as the suppression/elimination games. I don't feel that the respawn matches really help a whole lot with learning the maps since most of the time they are run and gun, but they definately allow you to try out all the different guns and load outs to help find a combo that works for you. Learning the maps is best done through the CAG night games and following md around after you've died. He is a master.

My aim is as bad as anyone in the world (I have the plaque for World Worst Aim hanging on my wall at work) and that doesn't stop me from having fun with this game. Yes, it would be much more satisfying if I could put all the guys down that I see the way Smog, Option and some of the other CAGs do, but the team work in this game really makes it what it is. Like you, I purchased this game solely for the mic, ended up trying it on Smog's recommendation and now I have a difficult time playing anything else. All the other games that I purchased a year and a half ago sit unfinished and untouched.

i dont have a mic and i am about to pop the disc in right now
the only socom i ever played was for psp. i loved the way this game was.

from what i read it is multiplayer only.

Sure is fun here waiting for it to be completely installed and updated Sony!

thanks for the tips, I'm having isp issues so can't play right now. hopefully have things straightened out this weekend.

Last night was crazy! Between massive teamkills and people puking I was laughing so hard the whole time we were playing. Seriously one of the best nights ever on Socom. I randomly start cracking up all day when I think of the puking on proximity lol

My vote would be to start a couple games with CAG vs CAG and then do some quick matches once everyone that's going to come for the night is in the room. It kind of stinks once you get going in the quick matches and guys are still getting online or when we're in a room that doesn't have enough room for people getting on. It would be nice to have a couple warm up games (by warm up games I mean guys like Esper shooting me in the face before I get shot in the face by someone I don't know)

I have a weird ass knack for finding the same person, round after round. It's kind of like Mother Goose searching for its young. I guess I have superpowers, lol. Sixth sense! :D. Damn.. I couldn't think of any other analogy besides that. See you guys later on tonight.
 
Option, if there ever was a round we needed your dvr recorder for, it just happened. I got kicked, I really wanted to hear what the other team said about that. Funny thing is that I said after you killed 3 or 4 you gave us a chance to win the tiebreaker, I didn't realize that wasn't good enough for you :).
 
I'm sorry md, but Smog topped your epic knife killing spree couple days ago. Our whole team was dead. Dead in the water. Smog was the only one left alive. Killed the entire team by himself. 7 or 8 kills in a row? What the fuck... Beasted the whole team full of scrubs who talked mad shit, lol. If Smog died on Round 8, we would've lost due to bomb plants.

I've never witnessed that on Socom. It's etched into my mind now. I'm inspired, lol. I want to top that now. Option, you should've been here to witness that. :bomb:

"You guys lost to a group of randoms"-(Pertaining to the quarantine match). And I don't remember the whole convo, I just got gist of it. Didn't really pay attention to the douchebag after that.

nah it more like i been using a mouse and keyboard since like forever,I had consoles growing up but the PC was the primary platform i grew up on. it dont help that pc gaming is not the platform leader for sku's any more :(

Between md's knife run, snoopy's barfing up a lung and smog's 7-0 display last night this game has brought more laughs this week than I can ever remember. Thanks Smog for ending what had been a horrid night of dying for me on a positive note. I'm still chuckling about seeing that last guy's name light up in blue after the grenade hit.

That was the single most epic round I have ever had or see anyone have. It started with just two of them and I was like "Lets Go" my normal little smack talk. Then it turned into 4 or 5 of them and my smack talking went up a notch "fuck you bums" Then after that amazing grenade I just exploded. "fuck all you motherfuckers" etc etc. The craziest thing about it is this all happened in a matter of maybe 1 minute? They swarmed the shit out of the plant site. Luckily I blew that truck up before they got in.

After they all died hearing Goldbug cracking up was hilarious. Especially since he was having a rough night. At this point I was literally shaking from adrenaline. First time thats happened in a while for me.

I think you guys all know I am not overly cocky of arrogant, just confident in what we can do as a team. But that round is why I am a leader, and I couldnt be more proud of the CAG clan and how far we have come.

We as a team really needed that. If anything can bring us out of a slump, that was it.

Glad I could turn a bad night into a memorable one. This was an amazing week of Socom, lotta laughs! Great way to bring in 2010 guys!

Is there a way to view games as a spectator? I haven't played this game yet, but it seems like you guys have lots of fun and i want in.

You can when you die. If you have the game already, smog or one of our other guys will invite you to the clan.

Its a very very very very fun game.

Most, and if I'm not mistaken, all of us have the dlc.
KDR isn't a problem in this clan. We play to fun, but we are competitive.
And for the most part, we do work towards the objective.

It will also help to have your psn in your profile, so the rest of the clan can
add you.

I'm sure you'll like it here ;)
 
Great games fellas as usual. nothing like the rush of a 7 kill round.
