Oh well... what's a couple more months...lol
Anyways, I have some tips that could help in Socom.
Tidbit about camping corners:
If you notice that when your face flat against a wall, your gun is down. If you see someone and decide to pop out, it'll take a split second for your gun to be brought into firing position. In that split second, you could've shot a couple well placed bullets.
To rectify this, all you have to do is back up away from the wall until your gun is up. Now you won't have to go through the animation of pulling your gun up and squeeze in a couple more bullets than you would coming from face flat on the wall. Keep in mind though you'll be exposing yourself a little more, increasing the possibility that the enemy will see you around the corner. To address this, what I usually do is back up diagonally away from the corner.
Cancelling Spider Sense: (Unfortunately don't know the exact name)
Anyways, spider sense is when an enemy walks within 50 meter (or yards, who knows) distance of your character and your gun goes to an up position. Now the problem is that the gun often doesn't go immediately to "at ease" position when the enemy walks out of your range or you fire off your weapon. Sometimes the gun can remain up for a good amount of time when the enemy is in fact outside of your spider sense range.
To fix this, you can cancel the "gun up" position. All you have to do is engage the running animation. You can hold your run button long enough to run just one step, and it'll return your gun back to "at ease" position after your running animation ends. However, if the enemy is still within the vicinity, your gun will remain up.
This is great to keep possible locations of your enemy up to date. However, if they catch you in the short amount of time you are starting and stopping your run animation, they would have the advantage.
The spider sense can be cancelled when you change weapons as well, however this method takes longer and you are left with a secondary weapon during this time. This cancelling can also be useful for snipers, as their gun automatically goes up after firing off a shot. It will allow them to discern if someone is within closer range.
