CAG Tekken 5: DR ONLINE Thread! (Schedule your beatings here!)
I'll be downloading it after i can afford a PS3 which will hopefully be soon.
1 word: gointodebtyoupussy! only real american manly men do it /good advice
DONE 100%
I usually don't play many fighting games. I usually only play Tekken and Virtua Fighter occasionally. I have got to say that this game is the most addicting fighting game I've played in quite sometime. They're taking a page from VF with the entire character customization and the ranking up. The graphics also look really good in 1080P. It's not the best ever but it still looks good. From my perspective this is well worth the $19.99.

Alright, I'm sold on this now. Thanks for all the "this is worth 20 bucks" comments. I'll be downloading it at some point today.
I'd rather pay $20 for a greatest hits game with a case and disc....I feel the price is a bit high for a shiny PS2 game.
If you like Tekken, the price is fine.
If you like Tekken, the price is fine.
Hoenstly, never played it....that is why I wish they had a demo (like all XBLA games you can download).
If you like Tekken, the price is fine.
It would be fine if not for the DRM. $20 is really pricey for something tied to one system.

(Regardless I'd rather have the PSP version once it's a Greatest Hit anyway-I'll take portability and the extras over presumably even better graphics.)

I'm loving this game. I played it all the time on the psp. With the fighting stick its even better control wise. Totally worth the $20. It would have been nice to have the extras like the psp version but i'm still glad i picked it up.

Took me about a half hour to DL once I got going. That's not including the hour and a half I spent trying to get into the PSN at my parent's place.

Just to get connected to the PSN, I had to move a cable modem into the room and plug the PS3 directly into it. it hates my router and my laptop (I swear, I triggered all the right ports, forwarded them, turned on DMZ, put the right holes in my firewall, tried different DNS...every single trick in the book. nothing.)

I hope they do something that makes it a little easier to sign on.

Okay, Sorry to go so OT!! Tekken rules! though it definitely feels a bit wonky after playing so much VF5.

I've had the same problem with my wireless router, I wired it to a port, and downloads always stayed at 0%, so I decided to try wireless and it DL'd fine. Somethin' funky I'd say :whistle2:k

Hence why I think you should be able to do it all through your computer and then transfer it via usb or dvd-drive, like updates.

I'm having the opposite problem as you. At least I think I am. Mine won't download wirelessly, so I'm thinking a bit later today I'm going to wire it right into my modem and see if that helps.

I can't add $$$ to my PSN Wallet beause my CC address (location) is invalid/not accepted.. This suck big time..

I've been a huge Tekken fan since the start.. and actually still own all Tekken games released on PS1 and PS2.. even Death by Degrees.. ;)

I don't have the 5 cause I had been debating wether to get it on PSP or buy it once it made it over the US store.. but until Sony fixes this "glitch" or finally releases the long waited "Playstation Cards".. it seems that I'm SOL.. :censored:

Can anyone help me out on this?.. I'm not a freeloader so rest assured that we can work something out..

.

Check your CC statement and make sure it's perfect, spaces and all. some places are anal about getting your address *perfect*

mine took 2 hours to dl... which is strange.... to test sony's dl speed before before i bought the game, i downloaded the same file (which can be dl'ed from the same sony server for a "non-legit" install, but the install doesn't work anyways) from sony on my pc and it took FOREVER on my work connection.... which peaks at 20 MB (yes, MB) down. it took about an hour and 20 min for it....

Soooo...how's Death By Degrees? ;)

Nah.. I tried it all.. the simple problem is that my credit card is issued by a bank located here in Puerto Rico.. and that country happens to NOT be accepted by the PSN...

HahaHa.. well if you have ever read a review about the game.. then pretty much you should know whats not to like about it..

In general I say it's an OK game (7.5/10).. story wise I liked it a lot.. really ties in into the whole Tekken story.. at least regarding the Nina/Anna Williams side of it..

Graphics.. as in Tekken games.. are superb.. cinematics are awesome..

Control.. I'd say it's innovative.. to a degree I'd say it gets addictive.. if you get the groove of how some attacks flow.. same as linking combos in Tekken.. if you know how.. it's great.. if you repeat the same moves over and over.. it gets old really quick..

At least every Tekken fan should rent it once or twice.. Replay value is not so great.. cause once you finish it and learn to master the moves and everything else.. then pretty much that's it..

And the camera get's a bit frustrating at times.. same thing that happened when playing the "Tekken Force" mode on Tekken games.. sometimes the angle was really off.. other times the camera moved to a place where it screwed you over..

Long story short.. if ya liked Death To Rights.. give this game a try..

I played through it and it's... meh. I beat it to the end and nothing was that great other than stuff for Tekken fanatics. The anna stuff and Tekken force were the highlights.
I hope so...
Sooner or later it will happen.. but I sure would like to keep it "exclusive" on the PS family..

Why?
Why?
Well I don't have an exactly "good" reason.. but pretty much is a thing of "tradition".. I'd say that over the years the NAMCO + PS partnership has paved the way for some really amazing games and series.. incluiding Tekken, Soul Calibur, Ace Combat, Tales of.. (rpg series), Xenosaga, Ridge Racer.. and a whole bunch of their other great arcade games ported to PS..

And really I just haven't seen the same quality of games out on the other consoles.. and if things are fine the way they are.. why mess with it?.. I'd say tnat in a way.. is like seeing NAMCO as a SCEI Subsidiary Division.. ;)

Wouldn't you rather have more people have the chance to play the awesome games though? Tekken is the only reason I haven't decided between 360 and PS3 yet. :\

That's a good and valid point.. and shure it would be awesome if more people shared the experience.. but it is like a double-edged sword.. I dunno bout how you all take it.. but I can't shake off that feeling of losing "exclusivity".. then what would happen?.. if Halo, Mario and Zelda cross-platformed?.. would it be better?.. worse?.. what woud happen to the good ol' console wars?..

Well, it would be bad for competition. But... all the games you listed are propriety franchises. Namco released SC2 on all 3 systems and I'm guessing it did a lot better than SC3.

Exclusivity is dead or near dying these days... most major franchises are multi platform in some way.

I hope Tekken goes this way as well. :)

depending on how close this is to PS3 hardware will probably determine it. Personally, I wouldn't mind if it jumps to 360... I just want more arcade sticks then since the pad sucks ass.

so im guessing alot of people play this online alot? i been dying to get it but wanted to be sure. how is the flow? good? no lag?

There are a good number of people playing this game all the time.

Lag's not perfect but varies on distance from your opponent and both your connections. Even on the best connection you should expect a couple of dropped frames.
