Lengthy finals game that went back and forth several times. Congrats to Cth and the runner-up, Santurio.
Next tournament will be in about a month. Hopefully we'll see some content add-ons before then.
Quite a story for Cth, who was a last-minute replacement for round one and went all the way to the finals and won it.

====================
Play is now underway. It will be YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to get together with the three other people in your group, so an exchange of PMs would probably be helpful (or use this thread, but preferably PMs). I have everyone's XBL tags listed below so you can add them to your list. If you are not in the habit of checking this board very often, you need to do so while the tournament is going on.
The first person listed on each game should be the room creator. Obviously if they no-show then someone else should do it.
KEEP IN MIND MOST WEEKDAY GAMES WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO BE AFTER 9 PM EST to accommodate our west coast (and beyond) CAGers who are just getting off work or whatever.
If anyone no shows in your group and you have made reasonable effort to contact them, please PM me as soon as possible. Just go ahead and play your game with 1 CPU opponent, and if the CPU wins, play again. I will try to check this board as much as possible, work permitting.
If you drop from the game, whether it's because you deliberately did it or it's your connection...sorry, you're out. However, games ARE joinable if there is a CPU player, so if your connection cuts out and you're booted, if your connection comes back right away you SHOULD be able to get back into the room. Dropping because you're losing or your connection dropping for an half-hour and then requesting a rematch when it's back on is a no-no.
RULES
These are the house rules that should be used across ALL GAMES FOR THIS COMPETITION. I know, there's nothing I can do to make sure everyone plays by these rules if all four players agree to something else, but understand that there is no argument here - three people wanting to ditch the house rules vs. one person wanting to play by the CAG Competition rules = the one person gets his way. With that said....
Game Mode: STANDARD UNO
Theme Deck: STANDARD (if you didn't download the 35th anniversary deck, this won't be an option so just leave it)
Scoring Type: NO SCORING
Penalties: STANDARD
Draw Type: DRAW UNTIL PLAY
Forced Play: OFF
Bluffing: FREE PLAY
Call UNO: ON
The eight players who emerge from the first 8 games as the winners will then be randomly matched up into two games of four. The two finalists will then enter into a CPU vs. CPU vs. Player vs. Player game until one of the two players wins. If one of the CPU players wins, the players will keep playing games until one of them wins. I reserve the right to enter this final game myself replacing one of the CPU opponents (and probably will) just so I can verify the winner. Same thing applies if I win - we'll keep starting new games until there is a winner. If I do wind up playing, keep in mind I will not be "going easy" on the finalists. If I hit you with a draw four when you're about to win, it's because I'm trying to win myself, despite the fact I don't get a prize.
If, after 4 games, there is still no winner between the two finalists, the rules will be changed from draw until play to draw one and play to speed the process up. Uno's fun, but it's not fun enough to keep playing marathon games.
People who act like assholes during games, or try to lie about the outcome are subject to removal from competition.
And now the only part anyone gives a damn about -
THE PRIZES
FIRST PRIZE - Nintendo DS game of your choice OR Sony PSP game of your choice PLUS 1600 Marketplace points (if you don't own a handheld or would prefer more points, it will be 3200 Marketplace points - you're all set for the summer XBLA releases).
*Runner-Up Prize*: 1600 Marketplace points
Due to overwhelming popularity and the fact that Uno is the best
ing game ever, there will probably be another tournament in June/July. Better prizes. Gametypes will vary between rounds. Multiple wins needed to advance. Be very afraid. Fear that Uno deck. And hopefully they will have released a retro-style deck for download by then.
Next tournament will be in about a month. Hopefully we'll see some content add-ons before then.
