CAGCAA - NCAA 09 Dynasty - 2009 Season - Week 19 Week Deadline: 6/7

I'll hold off until tomorrow then. I look forward to the week that recruiting is over so that I can just fast forward us to the start of the bowl games, which would be the week of conference championships or somewhere around there?

Week 15 Recap:

As we enter Conference Championships week, we still have some big upsets left in the regular season, as #3 Arizona lost their Duel in the Desert to rival Arizona State, giving Florida State sole possession of the #3 spot. #14 South Florida managed to clobber West Virginia and knock them down a peg to the #19 spot. Pitt's loss and subsequent drop out of the Top 25 gave Indiana a push into the Top 25 as the bowl season nears.

The Heisman Watch saw one little shakeup, as Christian Ponder of Florida State slipped down a spot while Matt Grothe of South Florida jumped up to his #3 spot. The most important player of the week is National and Big East Defensive Player of the Week George Baker of South Florida for grabbing four picks in his game against West Virginia.

The main changes in this week's bowl projections are the new opponents for Kentucky, LSU, and Michigan State. Here are the bowl projections for this week:

Champs Sports Bowl - #23 Penn State vs. Virginia Tech - 12/27
PetroSun Independence Bowl - Kentucky vs Hawaii- 12/30
Music City Bowl - LSU vs #11 Miami - 12/31
Outback Bowl - Tennessee vs Indiana - 1/1
Capital One Bowl - #16 Alabama vs #17 Michigan State - 1/1
FedEx Orange Bowl - #3 Florida State vs #14 South Florida - 1/3
BCS National Championship - #2 Oklahoma vs #1 Ohio State - 1/8

Since this is Conference Champions week, we only have a handful of games and none of which concerns us anymore. Florida State hosts Miami in the ACC title game, Florida hosts Alabama in the SEC title game, and Oklahoma hosts Missouri in the Big 12 title game. We could see some more shakeups in the Top 25 after this week as the rankings are finalized for next week.

Because this week features no relevant games for us and recruiting is done with for the year. I'll be skipping ahead until our first bowl game and adding some quick recaps for those few weeks.

Week 16 Recap:

If you ruled out the possibility of this being the craziest weekend in college football all year long, you had to be surprised at the upsets that occured. Not only did #2 Oklahoma get beat down by Missouri, #3 Florida State managed to lose to Miami, as well, leaving the unlikely title game contender to be the only other remaining undefeated team, Boise State. Texas is the new #3 with Arizona State and Georgia filling up the rest of the top five. The entire Top 11 (minus Ohio State) was shuffled around because of this and it seems like the rest of the championship games messed with the bottom half, as well, leaving a chunk of middle teams that played it cool this weekend in their safe spots. Ranked teams in the Top 25, Tulsa and Alabama, both lost their games, sending them both out of the Top 25 and everybody else up a spot or two, along Bowling Green to make their ranked debut and Michigan to reappear for the first time since they were embarassed by Ohio State a few weeks ago.

The upsets don't end there, as this week was also the week that the Heisman Award are tallied up and a new winner is crowed. Knowshon Moreno's been a bit lackluster in the second half of the season, compared to his first half stats, so it seemed like he would coast into the Heisman on stats alone, but the assumed runner-up, Florida State WR Preston Parker, ended up taking home the award with quite a landslide of Moreno. Matt Grothe of South Florida was the 3rd place in votes with Christian Ponder of Florida State and Graham Harrell of Texas tech following up with the fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively.

This is also the week of the year-end NCAA awards are handed out. Despite his runner-up finish for the Heisman award, he still took home the Maxwell and Walker awards. Relevant wins include Ohio State's Rory Nicol winning the Best TE award and Ohio State's James Laurinaitis winning Best LB.

Finishing up the award week festivities were the handing out of All-American picks. Ohio State saw three players make the National All-Americans 1st team (Chris Wells, James Laurinaitis, and Donald Washington) while South Florida saw two make the list (Matt Grothe and George Selvie) and Florida State earned the most with four picks. The 2nd team National All-Americans included LSU's Keiland Williams, Penn State's Derrick Williams, and South Florida had two more picks (George Baker and Cedric Hill) while Ohio State earned three more picks (Steve Rehring, Malcolm Jenkins, and Ray Small). South Florida's George Baker also made the National Freshman All-American team.

Here are the totals for All-American picks in their respective conferences:
Ohio State: 13 1st team, 5 2nd team
Indiana: 3 1st team, 2 2nd team
Michigan State: 1 1st team
Penn State: 2 1st team, 2 2nd team
South Florida: 9 1st team, 2 2nd team
Kentucky: 0
LSU: 2 1st team, 1 2nd team

With the Conference Championships out of the way, we now have the finalized bowl match-ups and here they are:

Champs Sports Bowl - #20 Penn State vs. Virginia Tech - 12/28
PetroSun Independence Bowl - Kentucky vs Hawaii- 12/30
Chick-fil-A Bowl - LSU vs #9 Clemson - 12/31
Outback Bowl - Tennessee vs #22 Indiana - 1/1
Capital One Bowl - #19 Alabama vs #16 Michigan State - 1/1
FedEx Orange Bowl - #10 Miami vs #13 South Florida - 1/3
BCS National Championship - #2 Boise State vs #1 Ohio State - 1/8

This week doesn't involve any bowl games for us, so I will forwarding ahead one more week to our first set of bowl games.

Week 17 Recap:

There were two bowl games this week, with Utah besting Illinois and Marshall's massacre of UL Monroe. Nothing else notable this week will be happening this week, so let's get right down to the bowl games coming up this week.

The Champs Sports Bowl will be taking place this week between Penn State and Virginia Tech as Penn State looks to pick up the Big Ten's first win of the bowl season. Other notable bowl games includes the Las Vegas Bowl between #14 BYU and UCLA, the Motor City Bowl between #21 UL Lafayette and #25 Bowling Green, and the Holiday Bowl with #15 Texas Tech and #11 Arizona.

Here's this week's schedule:

Lee Kirk Penn State (Dandeschain) vs. Virginia Tech

Byes: Michigan State (XXXplosive1), Indiana (Archsamurai11), Ohio State (FriskyTanuki), South Florida (moonknight25), Kentucky (craven fiend), LSU (DJSteel)

So get your game in and we can get to the next week's batch of games.

Week 18 Recap:

Our main bowl game, Penn State versus Virginia Tech, ended with the sound defeat of the Hokies 45-21. Formerly top-ranked Texas Tech and Arizona ended similarly with a 45-24 final score in favor of the Red Raiders. The Motor City Bowl helped the Ragin' Cajuns of UL Lafayette establish themselves a bit more as a big team with a 31-20 win over Bowling Green. BYU's rematch with UCLA was not much of one with a 38-14 beating of the Bruins.

This week's bowl games include many of the biggest bowls leading up to the big championship game next week. We've got Kentucky's challenge of taking on the wild Hawaiian Warriors offense. LSU's tasked with taking down the #9 ranked Clemson Tigers in what seems like a defensive battle for two teams that are in the Top 11 on defense. Indiana hopes to take advantage of Tennessee's poor turnover differential and proove they deserve to be ranked. Michigan State has been on a role since their rough start this season, so they've got a chance to cap off a successful season by beating the Gamecocks of South Carolina. This year's Orange Bowl features a special south Florida match-up between Miami and South Florida, who have amassed 11 wins each this season. Other big games this week include West Virginia against the ranked Tar Heels of UNC, the lucky Texas Longhorns taking on Arizona State in the Rose Bowl, the rematch between Florida and Florida State once more this year in the Sugar Bowl, and Missouri and Georgia's match-up in the Fiesta Bowl. Here's the schedule for this week:

Kirk Kentucky (craven fiend) at Hawaii Lee
LSU (DJSteel) at Clemson Kirk Lee
Lee Tennessee at Indiana (Archsamurai11) Kirk
Kirk Lee South Carolina at Michigan State (XXXplosive1)
Miami at South Florida (moonknight25) Kirk Lee

Byes: Ohio State (FriskyTanuki), Penn State (Dandeschain)

Sorry for the delay, so get to those games.
No, it seems that DJSteel and craven didn't play their bowl games, so I'll send them message to get it in by tonight.
Didn't realize that this had been jumped up to my game. If needed, sim my game, as I won't have any time prior to Tuesday to get my game, due to work and family.

Week 19 recap:

This week saw the last large group of bowl games for this bowl season as every awaits the big game. We saw Hawai beat up on the Kentucky Wildcats, USC beat the crap out of Pitt, LSU was whupped by #9 Clemson, Indiana proved they were worthy of their ranking wth a big beatdown on Tennessee, Michigan State capped off a comeback with a close loss against South Carolina, West Virginia nearly doubled up on UNC, while former National Championship contender Oklahoma was relegated to the Cotton Bowl as they beat Alabama by three touchdowns. The big BCS bowls saw Texas shut down Arizona State's offense to just 7 measly points in a win at the Rose Bowl, the Sugar Bowl saw Florida State beat Florida for the second time this season, Missouri marked another win for the Big 12 in the BCS and another loss for the SEC, and the Orange Bowl hosted South Florida's big statement as they dominated Miami 35-10 in their home state.

This week sees one remaining bowl game, the biggest one of them all, the BCS National Championship between #2 Boise State and #1 Ohio State. In a strange twist of fate, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreet are both picking Boise State for the ultimate upset for this wild season.

Schedule:

Lee Kirk Boise State vs. Ohio State (FriskyTanuki)

Byes: South Florida (moonknight25), Penn State (Dandeschain), Michigan State (XXXplosive1), Indiana (Archsamurai11), LSU (DJSteel), Kentucky (craven fiend)

Look for another update tonight after I finish my game so we can move to the offseason.

Week 20 recap:

The last game of this long season has been completed and The Ohio State Buckeyes are your National Champions as they dominated the Boise State Broncos to show that they could finally get over that hump to win the title.

That means that we're done with our first season, so it's time to get through the off-season and get ready for another season of great football. I'm happy to let you know that we have another joining our ranks, as Redrazorback will be joining us and taking over the Arkansas spot in the SEC. The only issue we have at the moment is what to do with moonknight25 since we don't want to leave one person alone in a conference, so I'm thinking a move to an SEC team would be the best solution to even things out at four to each conference. So let me know what team you'd like to move to and I'll get you situated ASAP so you don't miss any off-season maintenance.

The rankings to end the season definitely featured some big shifts with the final Top Five being Ohio State at #1, Texas at #2, Missouri at #3, Boise State at #4, and Oklahoma rounding out that list at #5. Michigan State and UNC dropped out of the final Top 25 with their disappointing losses in their bowl games while Tulsa and Texas A&M took the opportunity to move up to a ranked spot at the last possible moment. I've updated the rankings in the OP so you can see where you end up at.

Here's how the off-season will go: I'll fast forward past this week and then give you guys the standard week to get whatever is needed to be done finished up. The quicker you guys get on and do that, the quicker we can move through the off-season and get to the games. If I see that you're not done after three days, I'll send you a message on Live to remind you so that we're not delaying these simple tasks. If you want to just skip through them all, let me know and I'll try to set you on autopilot, though that means that you're leaving all of your decisions on recruiting and cuts up to the CPU, so be sure you know what you're giving up.

Great season guys. Looking forward to having Indiana from the beginning next season.

I have a suggestion regarding moving forward...I like the three day time period for off-season tasks, but I think it should be strictly enforced. 3 days is plenty of time to do these tasks, and everyone can check the forums and see when the next deadline is. Rather than having to remind people, send messages, etc., why don't we just simulate those who don't complete tasks within the allotted time? Its not like they didn't know when it was due.

Again, just a suggestion. Looking forward to next season!

Switched you over to Vandy, moonknight, so you should be good to go for the offseason.

Arch: Good idea. You guys have until Friday to get your outbound player situations wrapped up, which only takes about 15 minutes at most, so it's not a big time requirement. Just hop on and get it over with.

sorry I haven't been on top of things of late.. I will be sure to get back into this for next season.. after my 360 went down, I fell behind.. better to start fresh with a new season.. I would like to move to Pitt if they aren't taken or Florida, since LSU was not my original pick.

I'll try to get that changed tonight, so I'll let you know when that's done.
You should be ready to go, DJSteel.

There's just DanMagz, craven fiend, and DJSteel to go for this first week.
I'll get my stuff in today. After that, I am not sure when my next round of free time will be. I'll likely not have another day off until Wednesday, but will try to be on to manage the offseason stuff.

Edit: If I am the hold up, go ahead and sim past my returning players. Going to try and get a fresh start all around.

We're on to the next week, though it's a pretty uneventful week with Transfer Requests. So if you have anyone that's leaving or coming in to your school, this is the week to take care of that. Just hop on by Wednesday and see if you've got a transfers to deal with.

Just a reminder that I'll be moving to the next week tomorrow, so try to get on by tomorrow afternoon if you haven't already. I believe off-season recruiting is next up.

Didn't get a chance to get mine done, but since its only transfer requests, no big deal to me. Looking forward to starting recruiting though!

Any chance we can do this on a daily basis? It doesn't take but 10 mins at the most to update. I'm itching to redeem myself next season.

Nah, I know a few of us are a little slow to the draw so I don't want to have people missing recruiting during the offseason. If somebody notices that they're the last one to do their recruiting before Monday, just let me know and I'll move ahead.

We're moving on to week two of the recruiting period. DanMagz and DJSteel were the unlucky people not recruiting the first week, so you should get on for week two to not miss out on the remaining recruits.

Get your second week recruit work done by Saturday night.

I was looking at the top classes...and DJSteel was definitely not unlucky, unless you want to call ten 5 star commits unlucky. I haven't even been able to pull that off in an off-line dynasty. Then again, I've never used anyone other than IU.

He didn't recruit any of them, as they were recruited during the season when nobody had control of Florida. still, he'd probably need more players to fill in holes.

Craven, I saw your class, pretty sure you grabbed a few 3 stars in week 1 didn't you? I think I snagged a few 4's, and thats the best i'm going to get in year 1. Most of my remaining targets are 3 and 2 stars, maybe a couple 4's left.

I know its probably waaaay too late, but is there any room for an extra?
I just got this game today.

EDIT: I see there are extra spots? If thats right, does the University of Minnesota fall into one of the categories your looking for? Otherwise, I really don't care what team I get, perhaps USF?
I don't know too much about college football, I just wanted something better than Madden.

Sure, we've still got room. We're in the middle of recruiting, so you can finish up for Minnesota when I add you tonight or tomorrow when we flip to the next week. I'll make another post when I've added you.

Three days? Tuesday to Saturday is five days, a bit more than the usual space, so I gave enough time before and after so you should be able to get on to get your recruiting done. I'm thinking of making the next week due by Wednesday, so be sure to make some time before New Year's to get on.

Not sure what I was thinking. Not going to get my recruiting in tonight, but thats cool. Most needs are filled.
