CAGCAA - NCAA 09 Dynasty - 2009 Season - Week 19 Week Deadline: 6/7

When the season starts. ;) Shouldn't be much longer, as we'll just have cuts and the few other remaining pre-season items before we get to the action.

We're on to the next week. Technically, it's the week after that since the week after Recruiting Week 5 was a sixth week of just reflection upon your recruiting that's already done in the other remaining parts of the off-season, so I moved ahead to the position changes portion of the off-season. You'll have until Thursday to get any changes you have to make done.

We've got ten teams at the moment, 5 in the SEC (Florida, Kentucky, Vandy, Arkansas, and Alabama) and 5 in the Big Ten (Ohio State, Indiana, Penn State, Michigan State, and Minnesota), so we have room for two more. If you want in, hurry up since the season will be starting soon.

Alright, invites have been sent out and we are ready to move to the next week. If there's anyone else that wants to join, it'll have to be one of the remaining Big Ten teams.

This week is cut week, so everybody needs to be able to get on by Wednesday night and make any cuts they need to make or else you leave it up to the CPU to decide who stays and who goes. After this is the start of the pre-season, where we get schedules set up and you can set your lineups and redshirt players.
Make sure to get your cuts in by tomorrow night.
I will be doing mine after work tomorrow (4:30 ET). So if possible, could you hold off until after that time. If not, I'll take my luck with the CPU.

We're now in pre-season mode, which means you guys have a few things to do for next Wednesday. That means initial recruiting for the 2009 season, redshirting, setting your depth charts, and I'll handle custom schedules.

We're going to do the 2 CAG opponents in your out-of-conference schedule and since we've got Big Ten and SEC teams, that means a Big Ten vs. SEC invitational. I'm not sure how this will work with an odd number of teams, one more in the SEC, but I may throw another Big Ten team in the mix just to even it up, so two of you will probably get a CPU team to play instead of two human teams. I'll work on those and post the expected schedules later. FCS teams will also be gone, so I'll be changing those, as well, so any changes will be posted alongside the Big Ten vs. SEC invitational.

Since we are now in the pre-season, that means new rankings to start off the year. There was no formal rankings list, so I just cobbled together the list from what I could find. Check out the OP to see where you are at to start the season.

Just a reminder that the season begins on Thursday, so get your rosters set and recruiting boards filled up for the big week. I'll work on the Big Ten vs. SEC schedule tomorrow and post any other changes then.

0-1, here I come. Probably will be mic-less, depending on when we are able to get our game in Frisky. Will probably be keeping my son out of stuff while playing and if he hears talking, he'll start screaming and wanting the mic.

It's finally time for the new season to begin. Everybody should be relaxed and ready to go, so let's get started.

The pre-season rankings have also been officially posted so that those of you not in the Top 25 can see where you stand and how far you have to go to get into the Top 25.

The initial Heisman Watch list has been posted, which has South Florida's Matt Grothe at #1, Oklahoma has DeMarco Murray at #2 and Sam Bradford at #4, West Virginia's Noel Devine at #3, and Tim Tebow rounds out the list at #5.

Moving on to the games that kickoff this season. The biggest game is one of the first Big Ten vs. SEC Showdown matches, which features #14 Penn State heading to Tennessee to take on the #24 Volunteers. Another Big Ten vs. SEC Showdown match features Ohio State hosting a game against the Kentucky Wildcast and the last features Vanderbuilt taking on Illinois. Elsewhere, we have Texas A&M going to Arkansas for an early rivalry game, Indiana taking on Marshall, Hawaii visits Michigan State, Florida takes on UCF, and Alabama heads to the west coast to take on Oregon State. Here's the full schedule along with Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit's picks:

Lee Kirk Texas A&M at Arkansas (Redrazorback64)
Lee Kirk Indiana (Archsamurai11) at Marshall
Vanderbuilt (moonknight25) at Illinois Lee Kirk
Lee Hawaii at Michigan State (XXXplosive11) Kirk
Lee Kirk Florida (DJSteel) at UCF
Lee Kirk Alabama (ThE 82 FREak) at Oregon State
Lee Kirk Penn State (Dandeschain) at Tennessee (THe CH3MIST)
Kentucky (craven_fiend) at Ohio State (FriskyTanuki) Lee Kirk

Byes: Minnesota (Azumangaman)

You guys have until next Thursday night to get those games and you're recruiting done.

I finished my first game and while Vandys offense sucks their defense is quite decent!
Juice Williams played horrible though which is how I beat IL so bad :)

Damn. That was a crazy game against craven. Sorry for possibly running up the score, things got a bit out of hand in that game. I guess my team has some growing pains to go through with most of my starters graduating last season.

Good game frisky, up until the last 3 minutes or so. Was really close, then I just gave up my game plan and tried to Favre-it. Well that, and I wanted to cripple Pryor (just shifted the safeties the other way) after the 2nd to last TD you scored. Was hoping to do so on your next possesion.

Score doesn't show how close the game really was.

Nothing like starting and ending the 1st half with a TD, that was fun.

I'm a little disapointed in my game. I was up 7 with 3 minutes to go and the ball. My stud running back fumbles and then OSU takes it back for a touchdown. So i have the ball with 1:30 remaining on the goal line and my fulback fumbles. Within 2 plays their reciever breaks 2 tackles and gone for like a 60 yd TD. I mean come on! What a horrible way to start the season by losing to Oregon State.

Do you guys have room for another player? My gamer tag is im2throwed25. I dont mind which team I get if that makes it easier. Just want to join a dynasty! I know the dynasty is already underway that does not bother me. Im read to bust one up the gut!

If you want to take one of the remaining Big Ten teams, you can still join.

As for everyone else, get your games or recruiting in by tonight if you have yet to do so.

Week 1 Recap:

Though the first week is usually a boring week most years, this year the Big Ten vs. SEC Showdown brought us some big games to make a few small changes in the Top 25. Ohio State kept their #1 ranking with a huge win over Kentucky, which was a surprisingly close game until the end. Vanderbuilt had a big win over Illinois while Tennessee came out of a close game with Penn State on top, knocking Penn State down to the #23 spot. That makes it 2-1 in favor of the SEC so far in this Showdown. A loss by Alabama to Oregon State knocked them out of the Top 25 in favor of Auburn as Michigan State inches closer to the Top 25 as the #29 team in the nation.

The Heisman Watch is about the same as it was last week, though Tim Tebow's fallen out of the top five in favor of USC's C.J. Gable, who amassed nearly 200 yards rushing, 100 yards receiving, and 3 TDs in a season-opening beatdown on Idaho.

Idiana's Kellen Lewis took home National Offensive Player of the Week honors this week along with the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award. Ohio State's Andre Amos earned the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award with two interceptions against Kentucky. Demetrice Morley won the SEC Defensive Player of the Week award with two interceptions against Penn State last week.

This week, the Big Ten vs. SEC Showdown continues with match-ups like Penn State taking a trip down to Alabama, Arkansas makes a visit with Indiana, Florida visits Michigan State, and Minnesota stops by Kentucky's place for a spot of tea. The biggest game of the week is easily #2 Oklahoma taking on #12 Miami for an early test of Heisman candidates Sam Bradford and DeMarco Murray.

Here's the whole schedule:

Lee Kirk Bowling Green at Vanderbuilt (moonknight25)
Lee Kirk Penn State (Dandeschain) at Alabama (ThE 82 FREak)
FCS Southeast at Illinois (im2throwed25) Lee Kirk
Arkansas (Redrazorback64) at Indiana (Archsamurai11) Lee Kirk
Oklahoma State at Ohio State (FriskyTanuki) Lee Kirk
Fresno State at Tennessee (THe CH3MIST) Lee Kirk
Lee Kirk Florida at Michigan State (XXXplosive11)
Minnesota (Azumangaman) at Kentucky (craven_fiend) Lee Kirk
An invite has been sent to im2 and DJ has stepped down from his spot in the league, so we still have another open spot in the SEC. Good luck guys and don't forget your recruiting.
