Week 7 Recap:
As fast as Missouri became the #2 team in the country, they lost their first game of the season to Oklahoma, which allows Florida State to jump up as the next #2 in this crazy carosel of National Championship contenders. Not to be outdone by their loss, #4 Clemson lost to NC State, a far from unranked team, and dropped all the way to the #21 spot, changing their outlook on the season greatly in one week. #8 Texas Tech had a similar loss to Texas A&M and now reside in the #20 while the other big loser of the week, Miami, only dropped from #7 to #10 after losing to Florida State. UCLA, Auburn, and South Florida have dropped out of this week's chaotic rankings so that Western Michigan, UConn, and Vanderbilt could jump into the Top 25 and see what's fun about being ranked.
This week's Heisman Watch sees Indiana's Kellen Lewis at the #1 spot, pushing Michael Crabtree down a spot. Only one of the bottom three remains, which is Noel Devine of West Virginia. Pitt's LeSean McCoy is now the #4 contender for the Heisman trophy while Tim Tebow returns to the watch at the #5 spot.
Ohio State's Andre Amos earned National Defensive Player of the Week honors along with the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week awards with 11 tackles and 2 interceptions against Purdue. Indiana's Bryan Payton earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week awards with over 250 yards of offense and two touchdowns against Northwestern. Arkansas' Ryan Mallett earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors with over 400 yards passing and six touchdowns against Mississippi State.
The Big Ten gets busy this week as Ohio State visits Happy Valley to take on Penn State, Michigan State takes on a team fresh off of a loss to Ohio State in Purdue, Indiana takes on another team that has lost to Ohio State in Wisconsin, and Minnesota takes on Illinois to try to move up on the Big Ten ladder as we pass the halfway point of this season. Tennessee heads over to Alabama's home turf with their eye on turning their season around. The two biggest games of the week have to be #17 Georgia's trip to the Swamp to take on #12 Florida and the match-up of the big losers in week 7, #20 Texas Tech and #7 Missouri.
