CAGcast #170: Wombat is Trash: The Trilogy Concludes

For most of the show I completely forgot Shipwreck was even fucking there.

Good listen though, didn't really learn anything new from the guest, but I will say that suspending/banning the guy for the guy singing the national anthem (or whatever it was, involved America, Patriotism, etc) was a good story and I love to hear stuff like that.

And do a CAGcast in America god damn, just for shits or something, even if it has nothing to do with games.
 
thanks you dirty bitches for the great fucking show. it was easily one of the most fucking hilarious fucking cagcast I have fucking heard in a fucking while. i almost shit my pants from laughing. i have to admit that the interview was pretty shitty though. Every time the guest said a word that started with an S my fucking ear drums would rip. The damn quality was pure shit. damn fuck cunt hoe whore bitch shit fuck.
 
Great show however Stepto didn't really address the situation with Wombat and the messages. He just spoke about what he does answered a few questions and that was it.
 
Excellent Show! One thing I took away from it was the fact that Cheapy ordered Batman on 360 over PS3 simply because he likes the controller better. Don't get me wrong, I love both my PS3 & 360, it's just for some reason, the 360 controller just feels better. It's always good to hear someone pick a multiplatform game on 360 for some other reason than achievements.

GOOD SHOW! Just .02...

I was kind of hoping to hear more about the PS3 slim, your opinions about the price drop, and what effects it might have on sales numbers (vs the Wii and 360 also). You did talk about it some, but you kind of just brushed on the surface without offering much personal insight. I'm not sure what I was looking for exactly I suppose, but I expected a little more from such big news in the industry.

Loved the interview - I like how you guys asked "regular guy" questions, and didn't try to sound like journalists.

About paying for avatar clothes and stuff, I don't see how this is much different than paying for costumes etc in the games themselves - and overall, I agree it's ALL douchebaggery.

Finally, I say let Shipwreck talk more next time (and have back and forth discussions more, as some other users have commented), OR - how about a Cag Foreplay Ship??? It's been a while.
 
nice show. i have missed a lot of shows lately but glad you guys are still going. it also made me glad that i still don't have an xbox live subscription. also the ps3 slim $299 price tag is looking pretty good right now. (blu ray woohoo) when i get some more amazon credit built up i will probably pick one up. o ya am i supposed to fucking curse here?

Am I the only one here who was offended by Cheapy and Wombat's use of the word "retard"? I realize that Cheapy was quoting a movie (which was heavily protested because of its use of the word "retard"), and according to his Twitter, Wombat was "being ironic", although I think he meant "moronic".

I am a son of a special education teacher and I currently work with special needs kids. I find your flippant use of "retard" equivalent to a racial slur or the derrogatory use of the word "gay", which I would assume would be unacceptable.

Great show guys. I was worried when you said Shipwreck would be on the show. I was afraid he would start talking about obscure lame ass games no one but him would play, but he was a good addition to you guys. Well, at least for the 4 minutes he talked.

The interview was alright. Sounded like the guy was talking with his XBL headset though.

As far as the contest goes, just give me the fuckin free game. I'm not a rich bastard like Cheapy fuckin D who can afford to spend 10k to go finger himself in front of Howard Stern instead of doing it while he's sitting on the can, looking up Stern pics with his Iphone. Hell I can't even afford to spend 10 bucks on anything, let alone games. So send that shit my way.
 
Wombat question with Fallout 3 which dlc do you think is the most worth the amount of money you spend on it. I feel like downloading one of the dlc for fallout, but i dont know which one.
 
To be completely honest, I stopped the show 30 minutes and had to fucking buy Shadow Complex because of how fucking awesome it sounded. And it really is. So fucking thanks.
 
By the way, Wombat must force Cheapy to do a podcast from the basement next week.

Good call, Cheapy. I have always chosen a console based on which controller is more comfortable. I thought I was the only weirdo that did that.
 
I've only listened to a couple of CAGcasts but I remember Cheapy telling a story of how he was listening to a Stern podcast and using an ATM and then forgetting to remove his cash (about $900 if I remember correctly). Now he is spending $10,000 to be in studio for a Stern show. Gay for Stern much Cheapy? And maybe the name CheapyD should be changed to RichyD. A real cheapass would have stopped listening to Stern when you had to start paying Sirius to listen to his show.

And finally, a contest involving cursing...way to eliminate us Latter Day Saints from participating.

You made an assumption that I spend all my money on comics and videogames, that is by definition being flippant.

Your comment about us calling kids douchebags took our comment to an extreme that was never implied or intended. Your comment had the same effect on me. So I guess we are even.

Great fucking show. I really enjoyed hearing about Xbox Live's banning practices, but kind of felt like the guest's hands were tied when it came to the subject of how they gather data. Still, it was a good listen.
 
Why the fuck do idiots keep taking shit from our past like Transformers, G.I. Joe and making these shitty ass movies that suck! It's driving me insane. Really, GI Joe could have been a good movie but... nope. Transformers? They were bad ass! Now what? What is next? Turbo Teen? Voltron?(My personal favorite) So where is the My Little fucking Pony Live action movie? Or the retarded ass CareBears? Where is the damn Smurfs and Snorks live action movie? They could use the little dude from Willow.

If I don't see a live action Get-a-long Gang movie I'm gonna be pissed.

Shadow Complex is fucking great. It actual led me to turn my 360 on. I'm surprised it even works since it hasn't been repaired in the past 2 years.
 
The parts I listened to were great. Thanks for plugging Shadow Complex, looks amazing. My fucking iPod+iTunes doesn't sync with multiple computers. So I tried downloading Songbird to manually add the CAGcast to it. It worked, but whenever I pause it it goes back to the beginning. I'll be able to listen to it when I get back to my home computer. Damnit.

fuck you Wombat for not doing anything about the messages. Stephen Toulouse isn't a magician.
 
That fucking asshole with the loud speaker from Microsoft was boring as shit. Getting banned for being an illiterate parodying Shuli's "Shalom Bitches" is funny though. Honestley, what was with the guy from Microsoft's audio equipment? its fucking Microsoft, they should have this whole internet thing down by now.


Oh and in regards to Shipwrecks inquiries about PS3 transfers:

  • You can have your PSN profile on multiple PS3's (unlike your Gamertag) and you can sync trophies from same profile onto PSN from other PS3's
  • Swapping the hard drive is a pain for the PS3 and is not as easy as doing it for the 360.
  • You can transfer game save data onto a memory stick easily with the PS3, if the game allows it.
The biggest thing about the transferring game data is that for whatever reason more and more games are being copy protected. For instance, I have Little Big Planet that I copied and took into my room so my son can play it with no problem. Later on when Killzone 2 came out I was not able to play Killzone 2 in my room because the Killzone data on my PS3 in the living room was copy protected. The only way you can save this data is if you do a back-up, and back-ups only work on the same PS3. Also, if you buy a video from Playstation Store, it will only work on the PS3 you purchased it on. You can not make a direct copy to a memory card. You can make a direct copy to your PSP, but when you transfer it on to your other PS3 it will not play. If you back up your videos on a hard drive and try to put those on another PS3 with your account the videos are still not valid. X-Box will let you watch the videos on your account on antoher X-Box if you are signed into X-Box Live with the Gamertag you purchased it with. You have to do more work with the PS3 for saving games and stuff than the 360 because you have to go back to the Memory Card days. The Copy Protection on game saves is retarded and here is a list of some games that do it on the PS3:

  • Rockband
  • Rockband 2
  • Killzone 2
  • Street Fighter IV
  • Resident Evil 5
  • Mercenaries 2
I know on the 360 that RE5 is not copy protected and publishers are not consistant with it. You just have to go into the settings and find out. Hope this helps and if there are any other questions I will be more than happy to help out.
 
Every time I hear you mention Howard Stern I can't help but think about the episode of Futurama where Fry is standing in Old New York and can finally say what he had always been thinking, "Howard Stern is Over rated!!" Which of course is funny because Billy West (voice of Fry) was a frequent guest on Stern.

I've got to agree with Cheapy regarding games and length. I used to love putting in a ton of hours into a single game. But anymore I look at a game like Fallout 3 and think fuck, there is a LOT of content there. When I traded my DS Phat for a DSi at Game Crazy (thanks CAG) I got a set of coupons for one free rental a month for a year. I figured I should probably get something short enough that I could finish in just a few days. I've found that I've been having a great time powering through a lot of shorter games I wouldn't have bought otherwise. 6-10 hour games like Gears of War 2, Resident Evil 5, X Men Wolverine and a few others. I still have Lost Odyssey sitting on my shelf with a save sometime during disk two. It's a great game but it's so big and there's so much to it I just haven't had the drive to actually finish it.
 
Great podcast, guys. I could feel the chemistry between the three of you today, probably due to overall lower levels of stress. CheapyD and Wombat didn't even have any real fucking sigh-worthy complaints. Awesome fucking show.

Great podcast. Though I have to point out that the batman engine you have been raving about the last two podcasts is just the unreal engine. one of the screens when you start up the demo has a huge unreal engine emblem on it. That explains why everyone in the game looks like juiced football players.
 
Good call on 50 being king of slinging vulgarities while still remaining charming. The only celebrity I think could beat him out is Samuel L. Jackson, but I've never played Afro Samurai, so I'm not sure how much they allow Samuel L. do what he does best. Even "Blood on the Sand" sounds like the title of a Samuel L. Jackson movie.

Regarding the question of where the price drop of the PS3 will take it: I'm currently playing with some sales numbers going back to 2001 to determine the efficacy of price drops and to build some models for which to map our friend the Triple once the new sales numbers start to hit. I'll post a blog on it eventually.

Shipwreck is a spredsheet whore, right? Maybe he could help or review it if he would like.

Sounds like Microsoft set Wombat up to get shit on by not telling him any of the normal stuff they tell every other Spotlight person.

The Xbox 360 sucks for HDMI people since Microsoft intentionally designed the back of the box poorly so you have to buy the MS cables so they fit properly or rip the plastic case off of the AV cable so it'll fit. Taking out the HD/SD cables is just another attempt to get more money out of people for video cables than before.

I'm not sure why Shipwreck would really care about the GotY edition of LBP or any of the costumes in it since he absolutely hates it, like Cheapy's hatred of MotorStorm.

I don't know if I'm expecting too much of Shadow Complex with all of the hype, but things like absolutely stupid/overly sensitive AI, visual/animation bugs, broken leaderboards, and some bad save point locations. It's a lot of fun, but I kind of expected a bit less of a sloppy experience from the best XBLA game ever.

Good show, though Shipwreck was the bitch for most of the show since it sounded like he could only speak when spoken to.

Cheapy, I don't blame Wombat for zoning out during the damn iPhone segments. I don't have an iPhone, don't plan on getting one, and don't really need another portable system to game on. I end up zoning out too.

That said, the podcast is still pretty fucking entertaining. Nice work with the XBLA moderator guy, that's gotta be a tough line of work.
 
Cheapy you say there is no such thing as a bad retard. Yet however I beg to differ. While leo Dicrappio is by far the best retard I've seen in a movie. There is a bad actor category too. The winner is Rosie O'Donnell! Check out an older Made for TV called "Riding the Bus with My Sister". There you will see the worst retard act I've ever seen in my life. Granted Rosie already looks retarded by herself so she has that going but well... you have to see it. (Don't ask, my GF was watching before we went to bed when I walked in after playing Mass Effect. Not a good transition.) And yes I had nightmares all night thanks to it.
 
I have a friend from college who is actually the one who got me into the Xbox and Halo 2 multiplayer. He's the nicest guy, but when he plays Halo he talks shit like you wouldn't believe. He'll single a guy out and yell fuck you mother fucker i'm going to get you -- and will just go off. Usually he does this to the highest ranked player in the game. He has the skills to back it up, but it's so unlike his normal demeanor I just sit there and laugh.

I'm surprised someone hasn't reported him yet...

I should also note that he's 37 and is an Engineer -- he's a smart guy and has done well for himself. But halo turns him into a punk kid again.

Better to keep quiet then attempt to muster some kind of half-hearted, false interest; which is why you guys never talk about J-RPGs on the show.
