CAGcast #25: Oblivious

Great Cagcast. A better name for this cast would of been Cagcast 25: singing in the rain or Cagcast 25: Max headrum edition (the 80's computer thing).

Also is Wombat a audio engineer?

I am not, but I was once, if anyone guesses correctly, I will let you guys know.

Anyone else notice the random beeps every once and a while (may just be me)? From the 40:00 - 42:00 mark there were a few. Seemed to be only when Cheapy was talking.

Another great CAGcast though.

Well..you live in New York so you are either a stock broker, a pizza maker, a hot dog vendor or a bagman for the mob.

What was that article Wombat was reading a week or so back that said Godfather was EA's first M-Rated game they released?

Because if I'm not mistaken, they released TimeSplitters Future Perfect quite a while ago, and that was also M-Rated.

;)

Variety. Why in God's name I remembered that I will never know.
ADR director? Sound editor? The guy that presses the record button?
Nope, but I have done all three, did I mention that I was on the phone with EA just before. The plot thickens....

I must say I was pretty disappointed with your latest cagcast. Some rather starteling errors, especially on the FN3 bit. First of all in her letter the editor writes how they now use a twenty point system not a hundred point system. So the next available grade would have been 9.5, not 9.9. Also FN3 is supposed to be a near perfect boxing game, the length or ease of the game is not something to be sniffed at. At the very least your're going to be fighting some 40 or 50 fights to be the world champ, is it realistic to have to fight even more than that? And let us also point out that FN3 was getting high scores by a lot of people, most of who used the hundred point system.

PS: In a bit of irony even you cheapy said "a game better be damn near perfect to get a 10"

I haven't played the game (other than the demo), bit I was just going on what I read from other reviews.

IGN 8.5/10
GameSpot 8.3/10
the computer is so easy to beat, even on hard, that there's no real motivation to play a second career mode except to try a different weight class. Once, our boxer just stood there and didn't throw one punch the whole round, and the computer opponent landed about seven jabs and a hook and missed about 30 punches and caused no significant damage. That's just silly. Speaking of silly, it was no great challenge to knockout heavyweight Muhammad Ali in the fifth round, on hard, with featherweight Manny Pacquiao, even though the Filipino stallion is less than half the size of Ali. Next year we really hope to see the AI and difficulty settings improved.
To me, that doesn't sound like it's even close to the perfect boxing game.

a perfect 10 shouldn't be used to describe the perfect boxing game, it only be used to describe the perfect game, FN3 is not the perfect game
just got around to listening...

"i gave my guy a whole backstory..."

I think I'm more Nerd than Loser, Losers tend to be single

This is really late, I know, but I just got around to listening to this episode (long story).

I just wanted to say that Wombat isn't crazy about preferring AI enemies. Wombat, the way you put it was that you like the "organization." I thought that was a kind of strange word to describe it, but you had it when you elaborated: that guard is going to keep walking back and forth on his route unless he's interrupted.

I've always been bored by online gaming like Deathmatch and CTF, but enjoy a good single-player FPS. I've wondered what the difference is, and I think I've nailed it, the perfect word to describe it: single-player with AI enemies is more like a PUZZLE. I'm pretty sure that's what I like about it. Some game designer made a map and deliberately put enemies here, here, and here, with the intentions of creating a particular experience. It's a puzzle to be overcome, and it's not something that any online mode can recreate.

WOW, you put it perfectly and made me sound smarter to boot :) , but yes that is exactly how I feel, the odd thing is, is that I dont know if we are the minority or the majority on this?

Unless of course the game is Far Cry Instinct Predator where they put an enemy here, here, and here and then once you kill them they magically pop up new enemies wherever the hell they feel like.
