CAGcast Live! Wednesday 6/20, 8pm EST

Holy crap, the live shows just keep getting worse and worse. I didn't think it was possible.

How many times does it have to be said that callers don't improve the show. In all three live shows, there hasn't been ONE CALL that has been worthwhile to listen to, comment on, or provide an answer to.

"This new wrestling game is on my hype wagon! It has new rosters. Hey wife, bring my tv dinner!"

"Cheapy, do you think I should get rid of my 360 and get the PS3? I'm looking forward to more games on the PS3, but what do YOU think I should do?"

"I don't know what song that is... Kid IK Kar Us?"

Then you have the 500 pound guy calling in, sweating, out of breath, and saying God knows what about the ESRB.

Plus, Wombat's connection is so bad that he makes the whole live cagcast lag. For the next unboxing video, Wombat will open a box containing a new computer, sent from Cheapy. Then, for the final unboxing video, after Wombat loses his job (again), Cheapy can send him a box that Wombat will promptly open, then immediately get inside and live in it. I'd love to see that one. What a pathetic show!

all the best :)
I tuned in to the end of the Livecast(i think) CheapyD and some guy were having a conversation seemingly about nothing. Then it was over and Cheapy said "Nobody wants to prescreen calls" Where was Wombat? I'll DL when it becomes available.
That was the post game wrap up.

And what's the deal with people posting, "I missed the show!"

Don't you read the website? The live shows are every other week, Wednesday at 8pm EST. How hard is that to follow? From listening to the callers, it does not surprise me one bit that people can't even figure out when the show is. The CAG community must be not only the cheapest, but the most unintelligent group of gamers ever. Ever! It's like everyone is riding on the short bus. Wake up people!
Ive suggested this before, and Ill do it again. I believe it is Stickam. Now, Most people start listening later on. I know that I, myself, came in like 20 minutes late. We had at one point like 200 people in chat, and god-only-knows how many were listening total. With that many listeners, it is hard to maintain a stable connection speed.
I know the The Instance: World of Warcraft podcast dumped Stickam for exactly this reason.

Yeah, how dare people not be sitting at their computer at 8pm EST during summer! ;)

About every third word had a hiccup. Couldn't understand shit which is most likely why people who called didn't know what to say. But I'm giving them the benifit.

How was my call guys? I tried to add something with some info that most of the media missed. Also I sent a PM to CheapyD suggesting Talkshoe. It seems to be the much better livecastomg solution.

Well I got to listen to about 2 minutes of things before the hubby got home and I had to close out *sigh*

I think chat makes the lag worse, on the listeners end. I'm one of the ones who had to close out and go back in to have the audio start. The audio wasn't doing half bad till I logged back in to chat, and then it all went to hell. I'm listening on a crappy hotel internet connection, though... that can't help.

The whole thing is made worse by the fact that most of chat was filled up with a bunch of people who need to grow the hell up. I saw some regular faces in there and they were fine, but some of the people (none of whom I recognized) just felt the need to type something every 5 seconds because they thought it was funny to flood the place. Hilarious, really... I'm born anew in your genius :whistle2:|

Anyway, I look forward to downloading it. I enjoy every CAGcast, live or not. Not all the callers have the most interesting things to say, but they at least bring humor into the mix. I just appreciate the fact that Cheapy and Wombat take the time at all. I tried DLing some episodes of Joystiq, 1 Up and Destructoid recently.... ugh. CAGcast is 10 times better than those 3 put together, on its worst of days, at least from a female perspective (1up and Destructoid are so juvenile that they're just painful to listen to).

If they really want this to work they just could put up an audio stream (accessed through windows media player and other programs like that), tell people to head to the cag chatroom, and force people to call by phone.

Just because you aren't into wrestling games doesn't mean everyone hates them. It was a part of my hype wagon because im a HUGE fan and rosters are a MAJOR part of each years wrestling games moreso then the football titles imo. And I did not ask my wife for a tv dinner lol, I asked her for some kraft dinner:cool:

Btw, good show tonight guys, the chat was the worst, but I enjoyed the show. I think if you get another site to host it, the lag issues will be gone.

3 Suggestions for Improving CAGCast Live!

1) Drop Stickam -- apparently it can't handle the streaming audio and large chat rooms at the same time.

Unless...you can turn off chat in Stickam and have users open some other kind of IM? Anyway, a separate live streaming audio and chat client might be a solution worth considering for now.

2) Screen Callers -- I suggested this before to no response, but I'll make one last ditch pitch if only for the reason that you can straighten out the audio issues on the caller's end prior to letting them "on air". It's better than having to remiind guys to tweak their mics or change stickam settings or whatever.

3) Bring up the call-in/talking points well in advance of air time -- You have maybe an hour of show, so you want callers to be ready with succinct questions or opinions. Judging from the callers so far, most of us can't articulate a coherent sentence, let alone contribute something meaningful/entertaining when put on the spot. So why not remind listeners of what parts of the Cagcast you'll be taking calls or provide hints at what "topics of the week" you'll want feedback on?

Or, as you mentioned before, you could change the format of the CAGbag to include audio versions of the reader questions that you could put in during the show.

As for this week's show, great effort as usual, but I can't comment on how good it was because I couldn't understand what was going on half the time due to the constant lag/stutter that occurred throughout. I'm sure it'll be better in the edited version.

Edit: Agreed w/Buttle; stump the retailer was brilliant! Great idea and very funny/entertaining. Next up: stump the Microsoft Warranty/Repair call center...

stump the retailers was awsome. i'd like to see more of that. i was surprised that the retailers did so bad. video game retail is an odd odd business.

i would like to see a lot more talk about the retail business. all of the accessories are crap. made by them and sold by them.
buying and selling used games is out of control.
the employees don't know anything, but want to sell you everything.
there's no way to buy games that are only 5 years old. thank goodness for ebay. that's where i buy half of my games no days.
and nintendo may have lied, but they blaimed retailers for the 250 price point. perhaps it's true.

are they making too much money unnecisarily.

Don't take lspear76 seriously, he's just an idiot.

Anyway, I wasn't able to make it to the live CAGcast but from the feedback that I've read in this thread I guess I didn't miss much. But I'll be waiting for that unedited copy, Cheapy, I want to listen to all the mayhem that took place.

ooooooooo that clears things up. i was trying to figure out why this guy in his 30's is making all these negative comments about EVERYTHING.

:imwithst:
That sucks. Wasn't Thorbahn a mod, too, where was he at?

It'd be nice if we could find out his CAG name and fix that little problem. ;)
I don't know dick about modding on stickam so I have no clue why Cheapy made me one.
