CAG'ers, can you recommend some SEGA CD games for me?

coltyhuxx

CAGiversary!
I have Snatcher on the list! Gonna be workin on that one for a while. Looks awesome from screenshots and reviews.

What others should I seek out?

Most of the releases by Working Designs should be more than excellent. I highly recommend the original Lunar and Lunar 2, not to mention Popful Mail and Vay. Silpheed is also fairly good if you want to give that one a try.

As for others...it's tricky. If you can find Shining Force CD for a decent price I would highly recommend grabbing that up.
Night Trap and Double Switch. Those games are awesome.
Nice, Double Switch... why am I thinking Corey Haim all of a sudden..:D
None, and sell your Sega CD. The only one worth recommending is on the PS2/Xbox/GC now. And doesnt take a lifetime to load.
Something suggests to me you're a younger gamer?

No offense, but your perspective seems fairly limited if you think an entire console lineup has not a single decent game on it. Akin to saying something like all Atari games have crap graphics. I know the Sega CD's hardware is pretty awful; that's why I'm running an emulator. However, that doesn't mean there are NO good games on it. Give me a break

- Snatcher (will sell mine in the near future)

- Lunar: Silver Star (will sell too...I really LOVE the GBA version)

- Sonic CD (I have the import brand new sealed...The music is much better...I need to find another, as I´m not going to open this one)

- Double Switch (don´t trow stones at me...It´s my favorite FMV game...That's not saying much)
- Ground Zero Texas (Yeah, I sort of enjoyed it at the time)
- Silpheed (don´t have one...I love this shooter and it´s soundtrack)
- Final Fight CD (best version and music)

I highly enjoyed Dune and Out Of This World 2 - Heart Of The Alien (one of my alltime favourites). Not to forget The Secret Of Monkey Island. Oh, and Mortal Kombat on SegaCD was the best home version of the game on the classic consoles.

Im 25, is that too young? I had a CDX?

Willy Beamish is meh...
Sonic CD, is ok... but better versions are out
Snatcher is good but edited all to hell
Shooting Games are too outdated now
Shining Force was nice.

I've personally owned Snatcher and Shining Force CD recently, I just sold them for $75 a peice and I bought them when they were new and played them only a few times, but for $75.. .they're not worth it now. Theres better out there, thats all.

And that's a good find. The game was only released in America and it was a pain in the ass for me (living in Germany) to get that amazing game. I could still cry thinking of what I paid for the game. But it was worth it all the way.
Panic! If you can find it.
I swear I was about to type that EXACT sentence!

Also, Mickey Mania was actually really fun.

Sonic CD of course.......

A really obscure, but crazy fun, game I'd reccommend is "Bouncers" a wacky basketball game where you play AS THE BASKETBALL. Look it up.

I never liked Snatcher. I thought it was rather boring...and those shooting scenes in the game were more annoying than fun.

I second Snatcher. As can be seen by my name. Was 12 years old when i bought it and was glued to the TV. I will agree with you to some degree about it being boring mao. Only thing that was boring was having to sometimes go thru the look and investigate menus 4 or 5 times before something new poped up that you needed to progress. The storyline just sucked me right in though.

As for other games, Sonic CD, Corpse Killer was decent (hey, its got Bill Mosely of House of 1000 Corpses and Devils Rejects in it, thats not saying much though lol), Eternal Champions CD. I have several that I've picked up at pawn shops over the years but haen't bothered with them. Mostly because I don't have a working A/V cord. Not to mention my Genesis is on the blink. Damn, just remembered that i can use my emulators (derh...)

Anyone remember how Dracula Unleashed was?

You have the best one named already. :)

Eternal Champions CD is a decent fighter.

Dark Wizard is my favorite Sega CD game. I also really enjoyed the Dragon's Lair-esque games such as Road Avenger and Revenge of the Ninja.

Also, Rise of the Dragon. I played that till the disc literally melted.

Out of this World is one of my favorite games of all time!! I've never even heard of a sequel!?! Is it any good? Has anyone played it? Please tell me more!

It's excellent. On par or even better that the first part. As for the story, it takes plays just hours after the events of the first part, so you could play through Out Of This World and then this game and you'd think it was just one game cut in two halfs. The graphics are improved, the sound is awesome, and I think it's harder than the first part, but well worth the effort. I think it was one of the last games to be released for SegaCD in 1994 just days before the release of the Sega 32X, maybe this is why it didn't get the attention it deserved
Not Sonic CD. The worst of the 16 bit Sonic games (although, still a highlight on the Sega CD I suppose)
Myself and a lot of other people consider Sonic CD to be the best 16 bit Sonic, and probably the best Sonic game period.

Here's my list from another thread:

Shining Force CD (one of my favorite games of all time)
Sonic CD (best Sonic game ever)
Snatcher (one of the best games of all time)
Popful Mail (great game)
Vay
Keio Flying Squadron
Lunar 1/2 (better than the PS versions)
Ecco the Dolphin 1/2 (great soundtracks)
Robo Aleste (sequel to MUSHA)
Silpheed
Dark Wizard
Earthworm Jim
Heimdall
Secret of Monkey Island
NHL 94 (still the best hockey game ever)
Eternal Champions (underrated fighting game, SegaCD version was much better)
Final Fight CD
