All right, you're on auto pilot. GpNinja can play his game whenever.

Also, how in the hell has nobody noticed that the game records scores and stats wrong? I was pretty sure that the final score of my game with slofton was 33-17, but when I was reviewing the end of game stats, it showed 33-23, and showed Taiwan Jones having a rushing TD, and Reggie Wayne and Vernon Davis each having receiving TDs. I'm pretty sure I've seen the game screw up the score before, but I've never seen it actually award stats to players that didn't exist.

I thought for sure this would just be an end of game glitch, but when I just put neworlbush on auto pilot, I looked at the post-game stats, and it STILL shows Jones, Wayne, and Davis as having TDs (even though it also showed the correct score of 33-17)...which must mean that those are counting toward their season goals. Has anybody read anything about someone bringing this to EA's attention? I can't be the first person noticing this.

season stats are correct but sometimes the box score after the game is messed up. thoughs box scores dont effect season goals.

EDIT: i noticed it in season one in the other league and kept track of players stats after the game in a book to see which would count towards goals. since after the game inside the action area the box score would change. therefore if u go by season stats for ur players that wut u go off of they reflect the actual game stats that u see in the recap area.

one time i noticed that my back up QB had made 4 throws in a game and he was never in even once when checking his season stats he had no stats

I noticed that too. Davis and Jones did have the TDs. Wayne had that long catch and was stopped at the 1. Maybe Madden glitched and counted it? Also, that a total of 21 points. Did Madden give me a safety? Or did I get a FG and miss an XP?

Also, looking to get rid of J-Bab 91 ovr DT. I'd like to move up in the draft. Somewhere around pick 3ish.

This is of course just to let people know for when we can start trading in the offseason. Also, is there a way to see the pick order?
I told CAR they could play the CPU because I have been pretty busy this weekend.
Would you be able to play tonight? I actually didn't get a chance to play the CPU.

Playoff Picture:

AFC
1. Bills (9-2)
2. Chiefs (9-3)
3. Ravens (9-3)
4. Titans (8-4)
5. Bengals (8-4)
6. Broncos (8-4)

In the Hunt:
Jets (7-5)
Patriots (7-5)

Needs Help:
Texans (6-6)

NFC
1. (y) 49ers (12-0)
2. (x) Lions (11-0)
3. Eagles (8-3)
4. Saints (7-5)
5. Vikings (7-4)
6. Seahawks (7-4)

In the Hunt:

Obviously everything could change, but it looks like it is going to come down to the wire for a lot of teams.

will I be able to takeover a team when the playoffs start, figured a terrible teams offseason would start then or would it be after the playoffs and its the leagues offseason? I just dont want to miss out on FA and draft if im given a team

After playoffs start it doesn't matter when you join as long as it is before the SB, nothing changes for non playoff teams until the SB is over (I know last year I couldn't practice or do anything worth while when the playoffs started other than look at my roster). I'm assuming n8 will send out invites around the time or right after the playoffs start so nothing is messed up in the offseason, and we know which team needs squatters.
I would like to join this league asap

As I explained on the last page, we will be taking new teams once we reach the offseason in a few weeks. Feel free to post your information and you will be added to the waiting list. Also, please feel free to post and get to know everyone.
I know you're new to CAG, and it can take some getting used to. But try to follow along. I'd love to add you to the waiting list, but all I've got is your CAG name. I do appreciate you posting in the thread though. Just gotta make sure you read it too. ;)

Yeah, we'll get you added once the playoffs start...but there won't be anything you can do other than look over your roster and see what expiring contracts you have. Free agency doesn't begin until after the Super Bowl...and the draft is after that.

It should be just over 2 weeks until we reach the playoffs, not that far at. With advancement every 4 days we are looking at 16 days left of the regular season before the playoffs.
Bills vs CPU Colts. Ridiculous.
Yeah, that's going to be a new official rule. It's one thing if the CPU keeps turning the ball over (which they will do) and you're running all over them. But to keep throwing the ball is pretty fucking lame and obviously shows what you're trying to do. Once again, people will try to get away with every little thing they can if there's not a black and white rule against it. I guess I won't give him a strike since there was no concrete policy about it. But there definitely is one now.

You have got to be kidding me. (70-14 Bills)

Ryan Fitzpatrick, 574 Yards, 9Tds

Meanwhile his RB had under 50 Rush Yards. Can't even pretend he wasn't running up the score. (Also the Colts only threw 3 Picks.)

You're making a real statement for our game next week GpNinja.

With the amount of CPU games coming up would it be a good idea to have CPU game guidelines outlined in the first post?

Maybe a max on passing yards/score or something? Also, would this fall under the playstyles or big lead rules? Just adding ideas to the discussion.

i think once a 28 point lead has been made then u should start only running max the passing yards and TDs wouldnt owrk if it actually a close game
Playing the CPU should be almost no different then playing a human opponent. Blowing the CPU out by that much is ridiculous.
This is what it's basically going to be. I am eating delicious Little Ceasar's pizza right now. Give me a little bit and I'll write something up. Like I said, it's one of those things that you file under "should be common sense"...but this is Xbox Live...and this is Madden.

I dunno. CPU can run it up too. In my current franchise Trent Richardson is getting 821 yards a game. But only 5 total TDs. Not sure how that works.

What??? The CPU is gaining 821 yards a game with Trent Richardson? Against other CPU opponents? What in the hell...

Honestly though, that would STILL technically be better than throwing for 9 TDs. Just like against a human opponent, the only thing you can do to drain the clock is run the ball. If your opponent isn't stopping it, there's no quicker way to end the game. But if you're airing it out and scoring 80 yd TDs (or throwing incompletions until you get the 80 yd TD), you're taking very little time off the clock. Now, of course, the assumption there is that you're not breaking off 80 yd TD RUNS every time either. But that's much harder and more unlikely than beating the CPU on a deep route.

I can completely attest to the fact that the CPU does a horrible job managing the end of the game. They'll continue throwing the ball and running a hurry up offense even if they're down by 40 points in the 4th quarter. So, turnovers and short fields are naturally going to happen. But 1. you should be running the ball in the 4th quarter, without question. And 2. if you're already murdering them at that point, you should be playing your backups.

Blowouts against the CPU are going to happen...partially because the CPU isn't great, but also because EA programmed them to play in a frantic comeback style no matter how badly they're losing. And against any reasonable defense, this just makes matters worse. Blade just destroyed the CPU Rams in his game (I think I remember seeing 45-0)...and even if all 6 of his TDs were through the air, how many came in the 4th quarter? It really would have served GpNinja right if Fitzpatrick had broken his leg in that game. But EA isn't really in the business of punishing people for unsportsmanlike behavior...which is why all these rules and policies are necessary to begin with.
I don't know. I got drafted by the Jets, so havent seen a Browns game. The stats look amazing, but only 5 TDs? Btw, im in week 8

Also, I'd like to point out that I got called out for a similar thing last season for what some were terming "XP mining" when I had something like 350 yards rushing and 5 TDs with Chris Johnson against a CPU opponent. As "bad" as anybody wants to say that is, it should clearly highlight the difference in running and passing. There just wasn't enough time in the game for me to rush for 9 TDs with CJ (by which point he probably would have been close to 700 yds).

The biggest complaint anyone could have was taking him out of the game...which after a few injury scares later in the year, I definitely started doing. But ultimately, running the ball chews clock...and I was doing it basically the entire game. There shouldn't even be a question of if somebody should stop passing the ball once they get to the 4th quarter in that kind of game.

The CPU was sending the house on defensive nearly every play. I know this was going to be brought up. My last CPU game I nearly lost and this one was way different Johnson was open nearly every play. Once I noticed that my passing game was clicking like crazy I sought out to break the record of passing TD's. The record was 8 for Ryan Mallet so that's why all my TD's were passing ones. But I won't do that again.

So how many times does it need to be said? If you're up by several possessions in the 4th quarter, there's no reason to pass. If they're blitzing, you run the ball. End the game. Punting it isn't the end of the world.

You say this as though you were disappointed in the amount of XP he was awarded for your "efforts" of blatantly running up the score and throwing 9 TD passes. This proves nothing.

This is a terrible defense and it's not even remotely close to being acceptable. But since there wasn't a clear policy on the subject, you weren't even given a warning strike, here. It would, however, be in your best interest to not act defensive or smug about it...or you will get one. Just be thankful you got away with this one and move on.

And on that note...new policy freshly minted in the OP.

Games Against the CPU

There will be times during this franchise that you will have to play the CPU. Whether it's because that team is currently without an owner or the owner is just unavailable to play, these games should be approached in the same manner as games against a human opponent. General expectations are that CPU games are "easy wins". It is also acknowledged that CPU teams do not manage the clock well and will frequently turn the ball over when they are behind. Of course, you can run your offense and play the game normally. But once the 4th quarter begins, if you have more than a 2 score lead, you should be running the ball and chewing up clock. If you are a running team, you should also strongly consider bringing in your backups to not only avoid accusation...but injury as well. Running up the score and mining XP for your players will not be tolerated and anyone discovered to be doing so will receive a strike.

But then he couldn't get the TD pass record. Why else should he play the game?

This is really lame. I've had Flacco in contention for some AFC awards up until this point and those awards give nice XP bonus. Its been a close race up until this. I've played my CPU games honestly and ran the ball a ton in the second half of games I am up big. Had a game earlier in the season where I had like 6 first half passing touchdowns. I could've had all the records too, but it was clearly the wrong move in my eyes. Sad to see this.
