yeah, I had the same thing come up when I tried practice without a K.
 
Um...Panthers just signed Billy Cundiff? That shouldn't be happening. If you need to pick up a player for a positional need, you should be signing one of the 3 LOWEST rated players at that position. What if somebody wanted to use their free agent pick on Billy Cundiff but didn't know he's available because he's sitting on Carolina's roster? I know it might seem unlikely, but it just creates an unfair situation if people are temporarily picking up high rated guys.

I cut Cundiff. I did not sign him and quite frankly, I'm a bit pissed off that you are running around accusing people of this. I posted several times in the thread today and was fully aware of what you thought was happening (as a matter of fact I stuck up for GPninja). Why the fuck would I go sign Cundiff?

Because if you needed a kicker to do your practice, you were ok to sign one. Others had been told the same thing. But what was being relayed was to sign a low rated guy. I wasn't calling you out for signing anybody. Just wasn't sure if you missed the part about signing low rated guys.

My mind is completely blown by the concept that the game is making these moves on its own...considering I tried to go into practice 3 times, and it wouldn't let me until I manually filled out my roster. How is that happening for some teams and not others?

I know, seriously. That's why I TRIED to make my team do what your guys' did. I went through different menus, backed in and out of stuff, looked at my roster, looked at my depth chart, tried to start a practice. And it wouldn't let me get any further until I fixed my roster manually.

I half expected a "would you like the CPU to fill in your roster for you?" screen or something. But if I hadn't gone and signed the worst FA punter (whose last name was Goodell, hilariously), I wouldn't have been able to do my practice. So, figure that out. Some people had players sign while they weren't even in Connected Careers. I tried to make my team automatically sign somebody and got nothing. The game SHOULDN'T be inconsistent like that...and yet it is.

So we already played the 1st week of preseason games? Damn, that was fast. I hope I don't have to work during the days we have regular season games. Sorry GpNinja I was at work all day after 3pm PST today.

Does that mean we will play the regular season games each week by the day? just trying to get an idea of the schedule of the season in real days.

and what time does round 4 of FA end today? as in, what time does it go free-for-all?

No we are still in week 1 of preseason you should have time to play your game. Some people just played early last night.

We've done a 4-day advance in the last couple seasons but personally I'd like to make it 3 days this year. I know there's usually a game or two on the last day but most of they end up as CPU or simmed games anyway and a 3 day advance I feel would help speed things up this final season.

Round 4 of FA will probably go later this afternoon, Nate will announce if FA opens up later tonight or tomorrow.

No we're in Week 2 of preseason now. I just got online to play my Week 1 game but see we've advanced to Week 2. The advancement is why a bunch of players got signed - no way the games could be simulated without rosters filled out. Not sure about how players got signed BEFORE the advancement though.

If we advanced and the cpu signed players that you had to turn around and cut, make sure you still get above the minimum roster requirements. Especially if you are just simming your preseason so that your opponents can at least play the game if they want to.

Yeah, I decided to stick with 1 day for preseason because the games are meaningless and we've been between seasons long enough. And considering you can do an entire game in your practice, playing the preseason game as well seemed kind of redundant. I just did my practice last night and advanced us. If that did make any teams sign players, just cut those guys, and either fill out your roster with lowest rated guys as joelypoley suggested, or just wait for free agency to open tonight (lets say midnight eastern).

As for quickening the pace during the regular season, I will reiterate again, that would force me out of the league. I'm not saying that as a "threat" or as "leverage" or whatever. It's just reality for me. All advancing every 3 days would give me is an angrier wife and an unhappier life. So, anybody who thinks we need a quicker advancement that severely also needs to be prepared to step up and take over because I can't support it. This game is a hobby. It's not the center of my universe.

He gets a lot of playing time for me in the other league. More than that he was a solid player irl. Sad story, the whole thing still makes me angry.
 
Ya, I don't understand how he flew under the radar like that (in terms of the mental issues). I blame a lot of that on the Chiefs front office at the time, I'm glad that they cleaned ship tbh. But some guys just can't handle the pressure, money, and fame that comes along with the flashy lifestyle.

and regarding the free to sign all, lets say its decided that it is tonight at 12am, do we need to wait for the "go" at 12 or just know that when 12 hits that we can sign whoever we want?
 
Group 4 will be allowed to pick at 6 PM EST.

Open free agency will begin at 12 AM EST.

When the clock strikes midnight, you can sign whoever you want (other than players that have been previously claimed, of course).

Bvharris is who I was talking about. He's the Broncos in other league.

I have reason though! :D I will still start Brock, Sanchez will be back up, and Josh Johnson will be reserved for wildcat. The other guy, well the computer drafted him. I was angry, and will cut him.

As for the running backs, well, I should probably seek a therapist for that one. I have a problem.

We should no abuse this of course. Don't sign 12 players at 12:01 right? Or is it truely a free for all. My team has A LOT of holes and my 3 off season trades didn't go through.
