Bring your calculator and a #2 pencil.
Oh I see what ya'll are talking about now Haha I have 28 guys that say 1 year remaining. I didn't know you could check the team salary.
LMAO...thank you, dude. I needed that laugh today. At least you're aware of it now. Because yeah, anyone who isn't aware of it is going to lose at least like 1/3 of their team.
Should we put a moratorium on trades until after the re-signing period?
I was kind of thinking the same. I guess trades that involve players who aren't in the last year of their deals are ok. But at the same time, I would think it's going to be hard for people to really KNOW what's going to be a position of need until they get their roster hammered out a little more clearly.

For example, I'm losing 4 offensive linemen, 3 WRs, and both of my backup QBs. I was only aware of about 3 of those. So, my plan of attack has changed a little bit, and I can't even swear that I'm going to be in a position to trade (or even sign) Kenny Britt anymore. To me, considering what's in store for us, it might be too early to be thinking that far ahead.
so to be clear we will have a chance to sign all the players that are leaving that aren't supposed to be (or at least will have a 12-24 hour window?).
Yeah, for sure. We'll do whatever needs to be done to make sure things are reasonable. I know for certain that the first week (in game time) after the Super Bowl is your exclusive time to negotiate with your own free agents. The week after that, it opens up for everyone.

So, as was mentioned earlier, you're going to get one chance at offering your players contracts, and after that, they'd be open to other teams making offers as well. The general idea was to allow 24 hours for EACH week of the offseason to try to accommodate everyone and their work/personal schedules...which I still think is the most fair way to do it.

What we COULD do, considering the circumstances is to transform that first week of open negotiations into a 2nd week of restricted negotiations. That would leave 2 weeks of open negotiations after that. Not sure if people would like that idea, as it would give everyone a bit of an advantage in re-signing their own players...but at the same time, some might think that's fair.

Yup, definitely. I can't say when or exactly how long I'll be able to get on. But I'll make sure that you and our new Falcons owner are both invited, and that we're ready to begin the offseason process...or at least as ready as we can be, haha.

Don't forget we need a squatter for the Patriots.

Also, I think at this point most people know what's going on. A moratorium on trades seems silly, especially those negotiated in good faith. If you're worried that a trade you worked out is going to bite you in the ass, you can always contact your trade partner and ask if you can put a hold on it.

Also, have we established a contract years limit for certain?

Ya I have been in discussion talks, and I told everyone basically I am waiting till the open FA signing period starts. I can see what I am losing, and who I might could get in replacement in FA. I think at this point everyone should be aware of what's going on and just take that into consideration.

I do not like this idea at all. Simply send out a PM outlining everything we have discussed. We all have big names to sign, offer them what they want. I think it just opens it up for people to make mistakes.

Yeah, I'll go ask if anyone in the other league wants to do it. And yeah, the only trade approved so far was yours and DVO's right? That's what I meant...I don't think that one is a problem. I just don't know that there's a lot of point in people going crazy submitting other trades until they have a better idea of what's going on.

As for contract length. I'll detail it in the mass PM I send out tonight. But in general, it's going to be that in exclusive negotiations, you can offer your own free agents any deal you want. But any free agent that reaches the open market, you cannot offer any longer of a contract than what they're asking for.

What does sending a PM out have to do with adding a 2nd week of exclusive negotiations? The idea was to give people a second crack at players who might not take the first deal since we're all going to be dealing with so many expiring contracts. It might make people naturally more conservative in their initial offering.
Yeah, I'll go ask if anyone in the other league wants to do it.
I'll do it if you need someone. I have a pretty good grasp on their roster (though maybe not this version).

I assume you just need someone to re-sign their current guys? I doubt they need any free agents.

Well there was the one I sent you earlier.

On an unrelated note, does anyone here do Ultimate Team? I want to form a "support group" where we help each other find the cards we need. I feel like trading is harder this year for some reason.

Yeah, it's all I do in madden, most days. This is a good idea.

I meant that I think sending out a PM so everyone is aware of the situation is enough. They will know that they need to offer a good enough deal so their players do not reach open FA at all.

I have Justin Smith, David Akers, Vontae Davis, Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Terrell Brown, and others to resign. I am in the same boat as everyone else. The only people I thought I was going to have to resign was Moss, Welker, and maybe Brown. It originally only showed me losing like 9 guys. Everyone has a reason to bitch and complain about what is happening, let's just work with the system they gave us.

This is what I was referring to, just make sure everyone is aware of the situation.

Oh, well, it looks like we might not need you to (or need you to for very long anyway. I'll still send you an invite just so we're sure to have someone when we advance (though, you'd think the CPU could handle re-signing its own players...but yeah, this is an EA game, lol).
I'll take the Pats if they're still available.
You're welcome to take them. They are a very different Pats team though. The last owner made the following moves:

Traded Tom Brady and Rob Ninkovich for Joe Haden and Brandon Wheeden...but started Ryan Mallett all season. They also traded Brandon Lloyd for DeAngelo Williams, traded Jeff Demps, and a 3rd and 7th round pick for Ryan Williams and Michael Floyd, and traded Wes Welker for Navarro Bowman.

Let me know if you're still interested. We'll be advancing to the offseason tonight, so the sooner you can accept an invitation to the league, the better.
Assuming we are going to advance this evening after the superbowl?
Yes.
Giants send:
DT Chris Canty, 87 overall, age 30, 1 year left at 7.25 million (I assume his 2013 cap hit is the same as his salary

LT Will Beatty, 77 overall, age 28, 1 year left at 860 K

for

LT Matt Kalil, 82 overall, age 24, 2 years left at 11.77 million

Vikings second-round pick (roughly the 22nd pick in that round)
Trade Approved

K. If the new guy hasn't said he'll take them by the time I get home I'll accept the invite just so you can safely advance. Then you can boot me once he's ready to jump in.

Is that for real? That's ridiculous.
Running commentary for his own game, lol. Look at this guy.
Figured it was the Superbowl, plus someone had to be the ochocinco of the league. Fg for car, 7-3
Is that for real? That's ridiculous.
yeh must suck having those players i traded for they all suck. Bowmen, Hadden, Williams. and Ryan Mallet who is that garbage Throw power 98 short 88 med 88 deep 85. its deff going to suck for you to have to play with this team. not to mention i got gronk from an 84 speed to an 89.

Phins win 17-3. Big plays on offense, turnovers on defense and Alex Smith being innacurate won me this game. Jimmy Wilson would be the MVP of this game, coming away with 3 ints.

Thanks for having me fellas, its been fun. A lot of good games, looking forward to continuing playing most of you in the other league. N8 ill drop out, so you can get the new owner in. And don't fuck up my dolphins, theyre like my baby now. Lol
It's over Dolphins win 17-3
Shocking. Miami completes the perfect season. All right, nothing personal, Chetty, but...get the fuck out of here, lol. ;) Congrats on the win though.
I'd gladly trade Matty Ice for Ryan Mallet. Id love to get one of my fav Michigan players.
Mallet Hes a Beast.
and Mallets a Beast now.
He got some burn in last night's Texans drubbing. Threw a pass that hit his tight end in the hands but bounced off for a pick. Some guys just can't catch a break. :D

I'm going to advance us first and then send out the PM so I can see exactly how things are presented in terms of the guys who "shouldn't" be free agents. The more damage we can limit from this, the better off we'll be moving forward.

Stay tuned for further instructions.
