CAGLS: Madden 13 Gentlemen's League - We Finished! Thanks for Playing!
Got most of my playesrs except 2 lost Jacob Hester FB it would have been nice to have a good recieving back and I didn't sign my old RG. Are we gonna have a FA sign period I need to sign a RG I have none right now. So here's how I did.
Mike Williams WR 93 Realease
Steven Smith WR will play an excellet back up to Johnson and Williams.
Ted Ginn WR 97 speed and accel. My special teams is gonna be beast now.
Anthony Fasano TE 86 catching
Derek Cox CB 88 man and 91 zone.
Mike Williams and Derek Cox used to be on the 49ers, I didn't resign them. As well as Ted Ginn who I cut...I had forgot he was my special teams returner...

and just like that, my scouting points are spent. Keith Rivers LOLB is available for a draft pick, FS, or WR if interested.

For those in the other league, how is drafting from the website?
Sweet, got Bart Scott! Also picked up Keith Rivers, he is available for a draft pick or FS of comparable rating (76-81 OVR) if anybody is interested.
What a waste.
if you saw my LB core last season, you wouldnt be saying that.
I think he's referring to the fact you picked up someone and are trying to flip him for something else. Why even bother picking him up then?

actually the rule is that if u traded for him u cant move him theres never been anything stated about FAs

Yeah...soooooo um....huh.

You can obviously see I'm a novice at playing in a league. First off, I thought I'd either get one or neither WR I bid for. Didn't think I really bid that high, considering I had 40 million in cap space. Again, goes to show you how much I don't really know.

But in any case, very happy to have my WR situation set.

I wasnt sure if I wanted to sign him and didnt get a chance to withdraw my offer, thats all. I like him and will gladly use him just thought I'd say he was availble since I need some other positions too. DIdnt see that section of the rules so nevermind.
Jets send:

CB Revis 96 OVR, Age: 28
- 1 year left at $8 mil (no bonus) for 2013

Bengals send:

WR Hill 80 OVR, Age: 22
- 3 out of 4 years left of $3 mill contract (no bonus) - $630K for 2013, $820K for 2014, $1.07Mil for 2015

LOLB Lawson 86 OVR, Age:
- 5 out of 5 years left of $35 mill contract ($5 mill bonus) - $4.31 mil for 2013, $5.31Mil for 2014, $6.6 Mil for 2015, $8.28 Mil for 2016, $10.5 Mil for 2017

Jets reasoning: I need a WR and a fast OLB to help stop the outside run which killed me. Plus Revis is on his last year and I'd like to free up cap space to sign some more FA since I am short on total players and depth.

Bengals reasong: well i have pretty good offense now and with adding revis my DB will be great i know i have no Lolb after doing this deal but i can pick one up in FA i dont real ever have my LOLB on the field so trading them really means nothing to me. and i dont really need Hill either to be honest i have cruz green and marvin who are good enough im sure lol. i already have 2 CBs that are 88 overall if i had revis people that want to pass on me have another thing coming adding him will put my defense overall the top and this defense is already amazing
Trade Rejected

This was rejected by every single person in the trade committee. This deal isn't even close. Even in the last year of his deal, the best CB in the game is worth WAY more than this. Lawson is a solid LB (whom you just signed), but nobody is drinking the Stephen Hill Kool-Aid. I can't even tell you what needs to be added to make this fair. Take this one back to the drawing board.
Jets send:
50th and 89th overall picks

Ravens send:
36th overall pick

Value of picks are pretty even (540 to 545) according to http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Value-Chart.php

The trade is contingent on specific players being available at the 36th overall pick
Trade Rejected (sort of...we didn't actually have a problem with the deal itself)

The committee really doesn't like the "contingency" side of this one. Some people felt that this is the risk of trading up in the draft...and that the deal either needs to be agreed to or not agreed to.

lol i cant blame u ur WR core is studded out

lawson was already on my team so even if i just signed him to a new contract i can move him right

and on top of that he came at me with this offer

well as long as u stay around for more than 1 season it really shouldnt turn into an issue at all. but if u leave half way thru or right after people are going to be pretty mad.

but i do like the win now style ur bring to ur team. its kinda wut im gonig for with the bengals

Tons of trades go down on draft day in the NFL. They almost always involve the pick that is on the clock. I don't see why "risk" needed to be added into the equation when it doesn't exist in real life. Obviously not my choice to make, but I just don't understand how the committee thinks it's a fair deal, but wants to add a risk factor for some reason.

I thnk it's just the idea of potentially backing out of the trade at the last second that people didn't like. I get the reasoning behind it...it just seems like it could be a slippery slope for others to back out of trades. If we're allowing "contingenies", it could really create one hell of a headache.
when we get into the preseason, will FA be a free for all or are there going to be signing groups again?
Hopefully.

Yeah but those deals aren't submitted to the nfl like that either. They're done deals at that point, not maybes.

You are also able to trade up or down during the draft in the NFL. I think the reasoning behind this trade was to get preapproval for a trade down so they could do it during the draft. How are we going to handle if people want to trade down during the draft?

thats exactly how i saw the trade when i saw it. that way if they wanted to trade up or down they could with out having to worry later to see if it would get passed or not then getting stuck with a player that one drafted and now the trade gets denied and the guys are stuck with players that they didnt need or want
when we get into the preseason, will FA be a free for all or are there going to be signing groups again?
It's really hard to know at this point. If there are a lot of teams that need to fill in their rosters, we might do a draft style round or two. But if everyone is generally ok, then we'd just let people sign who they want. We'll see where things things sit after the draft.

That's exactly my point. The way I wanted it to go down was for my trade partner to send me a message when i got on the clock and if I was still interested, i would send the trade offer. If I didn't send the trade offer, well we both agreed that would be a possibility. Nobody would be surprised or hurt if the trade ended up not going down.

sounds good i know for my team i only really need to hit 2 spots just for depth at that spot and i really didnt want to do it thru the FA becuz i didnt want to put money on players i didnt have any info on i did on one guy and it worked out but that was out of complete luck.

I think that's fine. Like I said, nobody objected to the trade. It was just the idea of leaving an opening of going back on it. There have been several draft pick for draft pick trades, but none that had a contingency. What if someone else decides that they don't want any of the players left at the pick they traded for and want to "undo" the deal? I get that you guys are approaching this more from a "pre-approval" standpoint, and I appreciate that. As I said, I'm just concerned about others wanting to follow suit.

The people who already made deals didn't try to add a contingency, so that would be their problem. And as far as pre-approval goes, I didn't see it any other way. i definitely do not want to sit around and wait while trades are being evaluated during the draft. I didn't think that was an option and don't think that it should be.

Fine. I really don't care one way or the other. Honestly, so many draft picks have been traded lately, I've lost track anyway, lol.

Trade Approved
The Pats are excited about bringing Earnest Graham aboard. Got snaked on D. Amendola. Wanted him to be Wes Welker 2.0.
Damn right. He wanted to play for the Broncos. :D

No, I certainly won't be jumping ship at all.
I've only gotten 2 response on the new Revis proposal in case anyone is wondering.
Sorry, my power is out, along with most of the town's. Not sure when we will get it back, hopefully before the Panthers game, or at least the draft. I am on my phone now.
Ill stay through the whole draft, if anyone wants to chat, DVO, Doc, and I will be in a party together
I'll probably be around for all of it too, or at least until the Pats game starts tonight.
