CAGLS: Madden 13 Gentlemen's League - We Finished! Thanks for Playing!
Crap, guess I missed you pitfall. The last few days have been super busy but I can still play anytime today if you haven't already.

Looks like I got CPU'd...not being able to play BEFORE the deadline has expired means you take a loss (user plays CPU)? I'm not going to check this page 24 / 7 but should always be able to play before the deadline, which is still the case. It's not like we were waiting on my game to advance the week.
The only reason you were put on auto was because pitfall said he hadn't heard back from you (giving the impression that he had sent a PM) and because he said he wouldn't be able to play today. When the person who is making the contact is at the latest point he can play, what else can I do? Not checking the page 24/7? Come on, man. Be fair. We advanced 3 days ago. I understand being busy as much as anybody...but there's still gotta be some kind of communication before the day of the deadline.

ya i just got done
bengals over rams 24-21
in the first half bengals lost darren sproles for the game due to injury then BJGE 99 carry comes in a fumbles the very next play and the fumble is recovered by the rams for a TD of about 70 yards.
Manny Lawson is out for 3 weeks as well. lol with all these injuries i really was hoping for a disconnection or something. but cant quit in a cpu game becuz of injuries thats cheap as fuck.

Dang man I was looking through the IR a few days ago and you were already missing multiple guys for a few weeks injuries just piling up.

Just waiting to see if ATL heard back from DAL
ya my injuries are really hurting this team alot 3 starters out for a little bit longer
Well DVO look over the chargers roster because we share a love for making big trades. Lets get something done.

So he doesn't hear back from me Friday or Saturday but first thing Sunday I respond and I've already been put on autopilot (not to mention this is all BEFORE the deadline) seems a little bit ridiculous. I responded to Pitfall's PM damn near 36 hours after he sent it so my 24/7 comment wasn't too far out of line. I was put on autopilot almost 24 hours after not responding? That's insane. It would be COMPLETELY understandable had it been during the week. I'll just drop if I basically have a two day window between each game. I could have played anytime today. No hard feelings, just can't guarantee this wont happen again if the deadline falls during a weekend.

The week vs weekend thing means nothing. People are busy at all different times. Some people have more free time on the weekend. This is why communication is #1. If both sides are communicating, they can figure out a common time. But if there's no communication (and no posts in the thread), what do I have to go on?

To make matters worse, people can only be put on autopilot in the game...meaning, if it needs to be done (as it was multiple times yesterday), I've gotta boot up the game and go through 8 layers of menus to switch somebody. What this means is I'm going to do it whenever it's convenient for me. That doesn't mean the other person has to play the CPU immediately, but the issue here was pitfall saying he wasn't available to play today.

So, think about what situation that puts me in. If I hadn't put you on autopilot, pitfall wouldn't be able to play today...meaning, I either let you play the CPU or sim the game. At the time, the only information I had was that he was trying to contact you and hadn't gotten a response. So, with that information, at that time, allowing him to play the CPU was the most fair thing to do.

You're not going to get a strike or get kicked out of the league for it, so it's not a big deal in that regard. But if weekends are an especially busy time for you, plan ahead, contact your opponent in advance, and schedule a time. If you're too busy to get the game in, then don't worry about it. It happens. We've all got different things going on at different times, and have to plan around our own schedule to find time for games. But it's silly to act like there weren't things that could have been done to avoid the situation. Anyway, this doesn't have to turn into a big thing. Like I said, there's not going to be any "repercussions" for it. Just wanted to give you an explanation.

My apologies, I figured this would count as a strike against me and couldn't guarantee it wouldn't happen again. I will state again that I can't promise I can check the page every single day. Had I sent him a message in advance though he still would have been playing the CPU anyways... Guess I'll just move on from here. Not like I was going to make the playoffs anyways.

grrr...sorry, I CAN. Let me know if that works. I'll be available earlier in the evening the next two nights if that works better for you.

That works. See you at915 CST tomorrow
Which one of you forgot to power cycle the superdome's power supply?
My bad, they had an extension cord that was siphoning power from my house. I thought it was the toast cord.

All games are done we can advance whenever. Cowboys falcons couldn't set up a time looking forward to madden so I can forget about a absolutely terrible super bowl imo

just got in my practice lol. after the bad loss to the Jags my guys had a closed door meeting and refocused in practice bigtime.

No love for the Bucs in the pro bowl, only Clark is going at this point :(

Cliff Avril has 1.9 million votes lol

Big F U C K you to Nate, the sister smashing pu$$y, butt F U C K ing worthless piece of garbage

Deserves to get smacked upon his head and get kicked off the imaginary pedestal he created for himself. Piece of sHit.

Just looking at the Madden site, looks like the esteemed Cowboys owner has taken his ball and gone home, and in the process decided to fuck the Cowboys completely. It appears that he released Witten, Carr and who knows who else. Just a heads up to anyone looking at the site or game and sees them in free agency, we should probably leave them there for the moment.

We can't advance because ballinhun8 decided to throw a temper tantrum (I'm guessing over his one game suspension...even though he was aware of the rules...and even though he received a warning) and cut at least 8 players from the Cowboys roster and then quit the league. So, now I basically have to get someone from the other league to join as Dallas so they can re-sign all of those players.

Classy move, ballinhun8. That totally proves your point that I'm a piece of garbage and that you're just an innocent victim of "the big evil machine". Good job.

NOBODY SIGN ANY FREE AGENTS UNTIL THIS IS SORTED OUT.

Also, in case anyone is wondering, this won't be fixed tonight. It's too late to be dealing with stupid shit. I'll get it straightened out in the morning.

Kinda not surprised by this, Cowboys owner has been ripe to leave for sometime. Too bad we cant sign these guys, Demarcus Ware would look great in a Tampa Bay uniform :D

Not a surprising move. He seemed the kind of person who would throw a temper tantrum, after being punished for his temper tantrums. Sadly, I won't miss him.

In other news, the other league made one of these. It's a league site that imports the stats from leagues from the game. It has schedules, all stats, and pretty much everything else you wanted. Should I make one for this league?

FYI: The Cowboys have dropped the following players. DO NOT PICK THEM UP! They belong to the next Cowboys owner, after the current owners tantrum.

Jason Witten
DeMarcus Ware
Brandon Carr
Tyron Smith
Anthony Spencer
Sean Lee
Miles Austin
Morris Claiborne
Jay Ratliff

Just another note, they currently have 15M in cap penalties in 2013, and 30M in 2014. Basically, they are fucked.

Once again: DO NOT SIGN ANY OF THE LISTED PLAYERS!

I think you should, quicker to see who you are playing that way.
Will the cowboys have enough money to resign those guys?
more than likely not with the cap penalty im sure they dont have cap space left for this year or the next almost certain that team is prolly destroyed. more than likely thoughs guys will either have to stay in FA until the offseason to see if anything can be done.
I'll be the Cowboys instead of the chargers if that's ok?
I'd be fine with that. As mentioned though, they're going to have huge cap penalties the next two season. But if you wanted to see if you could piece that roster back together, that's up to you. They might not even have enough money to re-sign the players that were cut. They also don't have Tony Romo...as he was traded for Jay Cutler.

Yeah, if you want to do that, go ahead. Sounds like a good idea.

Yeah but we're gonna have to squat the chargers, to ensure that the CPU doesn't sign any of them.

Yeah...we might have to do that. We definitely won't be allowing those players to just move to new teams for no reason. The only problem with that is that basically means all teams have to be full and no teams can be on autopilot when we advance, otherwise the CPU will do it themselves.

I can't even begin to express how childish it is to do something like this. If somebody's got a problem with me, fine. Have a problem with me. Call me an ass or whatever. But maliciously screwing up your team affects everybody else in the league. If I had to guess, I'd say he was drunk and throwing a post Super Bowl hissy fit. But either way, it's incredibly infantile and hopefully karma catches up to him.

Edit - Well, it looks like it may already have. ballinhun8 was banned from CAG. A big thank you to our CAG moderator team for that one. I know these leagues aren't the reason CAG exists and aren't anything drastically important. But we do put a lot of effort into them and it's a fairly large undertaking having this many people come together to play a game 10+ months out of the year. I definitely feel supported by that gesture. Seriously, "Powers That Be", thank you. :)

ya theres about 3 different ways to go about this problem.
1. consider the cowboys a dead team and find a guy to squat on them. do a randomized raffel the winners get one guy from the list of cowboys players that are in that list.
2. consider the cowboys dead and during the off season open bidding on thoughs players and find the cowboys a squater.
3. find someone thats willing to take this team thats destroyed worse than the panthers and let them see what they can do if nothing can be done then i guess choose from example 1 or 2.

2 is prolly more ideal than anyone of them. but i do like the idea of a random raffel from idea 1 as well.

wow banned thats was crazy fast. im sure the CAG developers love our madden threads though. you have think that last year the official league was put up for a cheapy award last year and im sure this one could be in the running for the award as well as many hits as the 2 pages get and post pretty popular areas

Someone's already agreed to take the Cowboys. The guy who was going to take the Chargers wants them instead.

I don't like option 1 at all, as it's going to unrealistically affect this season...which is already more than halfway over. Teams just magically acquiring All Pro players that shouldn't have been available. I'm sure lots of people would love it, but it's not really fair to the work that has already been put in this season.

Option 2 is possible, depending on if the team is really unfixable. Staticz was able to mostly fix the Panthers pretty quickly. So, lets not pronounce them dead just yet. njrockpd mentioned wanting them. We'll see if that goes anywhere.

I agree with those guys being off-limits the rest of the season, it's pretty unfair for any team to pick em up. Offseason though I think they should be up for grabs if we don't have a Cowboys owner who has space to sign all of them.

I'm sure they are fixable. It'll be the future years (like the panthers) they may be screwed. Those cap penalties are going to seriously handicap them. Depending on the cap space this year they might be screwed already.

Edit: yeah 15mil in penalties is about where the panthers were. They can probably sign them to one year deals but that team will be hurting next year.

Best option is to make all of them completely off limits the rest of this year and FA considering most of those players deals weren't up this FA and whoever the new coach in Dallas is gets the only shot at them.
