Audibling is "ranked match"? I can't say I agree there. I have around three formations, with several "go-to" plays for each that I will audible to based on how I read the defense. I am not entirely sure how much "too often", but this is something I do commonly.
I see pretty eye-to-eye with you usually, but if reading the defense and audibling to a play that will work/outsmart the opponent is "being cheap", that's just ridiculous.
Eventually you reach a point of saturation with rules. Madden is

ing broken, and half of the plays take an unfair advantage of the AI. Sure, we can make rules to fix it, but someone is just going to move on to the next broken play. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you that we need rules, but eventually we'll reach a point of insanity.
By the way, I am not trying to come off badly, neither am I angry, I just wanted to state my opinion (You guys are great, and I am too invested to be angry).

also i think using the audible is fine as long and u dont switch from like i formation to 4 wide shotgun. if u audible within the same formation i dont see an issue there. my main concern was the TE in the depth chart as a WR. or the hot swapping of players before the play. but that might be harder to narrow down to whether people are doing that or not u cant really tell unless u know every playbook by memory. at one point people need to have integrity.
i know out of my shotgun plays i use the falcons playbook.
there are formations where #1 WR is in the slot.
there are 5 wide formations where the RB and TE are both on the field in the 5 wide i believe its actually both 5 wide formations that are like that in the falcons playbook. i actually hate the 5 wide on the falcons playbook i wish it was WRs instead becuz i have a nice set of WRs but other than that i really like my playbook so i just deal with it
This is
what he is talking about, lol. See, that's all I was trying to point out, Rider. I'm positive I've read complaints in past year's threads about a ranked match style of people constantly going from a running formation into shotgun. Like I said, if the situation calls for it (ie. reading the defense, and sniffing out a run committed defense), fine. But if you're doing it 9 times on one drive...some might consider it excessive and cheesy.
In general, though...I agree with you. Madden is mostly broken...and mismatches are just going to happen. We're starting to get very wrapped up in specifics...which isn't necessarily bad...but we could do this all night. The basic provision has been set up. People should understand that setting up your offense with players out of position isn't allowed, and anything beyond that can be judged on a case by case basis. Identifying people trying to gain an unfair advantage isn't really that difficult. We'll know it when we see it.
I have no problem if the play calls for the TE or HB to be at different positions. I don't mind the audibles, or motioning players to different spots. At least in these circumstances you can see what they are doing. My main problem was them being in the depth chart.
Yes, definitely. If it's just the way the play is set up, unaltered, it's fine. That's the point I was trying to stress. If it's by design, that's just the kind of play it is. That's like saying reverse plays are unfair because it's crazy for a WR to be running the ball. It's the design of the play. Now, if you were putting your 99 SPD RB at #3 on your WR depth chart, so you could run reverses with him, that's crap. Basically, we're just trying to avoid trickery that the structure of a video game would allow that wouldn't really translate to real life.
