CAGLS: Madden 13 Gentlemen's League - We Finished! Thanks for Playing!

Man, I really wanted to play as the Chargers. They're not my team, but they're the "local" team. Can someone tell me who Miami has at QB? I will probably end up playing as them.
 
All right, with Matt Young taking the Dolphins, that takes care of our waiting list. I will continue looking to find a suitable owner to take the Rams.

And when you create your coaches, the tradition we had going was to come up with a stripper name using the first letters from your team's name. Obviously, you don't have to do this (though, you do have to create a coach)...but it's pretty funny to see what people come up with.

Yeah, it was something we encouraged when we started. Then as some of the teams switched owners, people stopped doing it. The coach of Atlanta before you was Afrika Flame.

I sent a pm to the Jets last night, haven't heard back from him yet. We will keep you updated on the Super Bowl. Earliest we will get it done is sometime tomorrow evening (I won't be home until late tonight and doubt my wife will want to end our anniversary night with a game of madden :whee:) .

Also want to say all of my players/picks are available for trade. I'm looking for a WR, and that is about it. Also if someone is looking to move down in the draft I'd package any/all picks to move up if you want.

if your still looking for another person there's a guy that I met through a public league and we've been doing a 2 player online franchise who is pretty good and although he does some things in our private league that may be frowned upon here I talked to him about it and he'd be interested in joining and would read up on the rules. if you wanted me to have him join CAG and post let me know.

Well, I don't know what "pretty good" means. If he's beating you every time you play him by wide margins, and would steamroll everybody in here, that's probably not good, lol. But if the games are competitive or you guys trade wins, that's ok.

As long as understanding that some things aren't acceptable in a league environment against human opponents, has a good grasp on the rules, and will be active on CAG to set up his games and be a part of the league, I think that would be fine if you want to direct him to this thread.
 
Allow me to set the stage.

Madden 13...a simulation football game.

Ryan Fitzpatrick: Leads league in TDs thrown and 2nd in passing yards.

Real Life

Ryan Fitzpatrick: Released by the Buffalo Bills for continuously sucking.

Real life is hard, yo.

I think they just wanted out of that terrible contract. The only other "QB" they have is Tavaris Jackson. I guess word is Buffalo will draft a QB. But with this QB class, how bad do you have to suck as an established QB to get cut from your team? lol. The Bills have to have some of the worst management in the league. "You mean throwing a crap ton of money at Ryan Fitzpatrick and Mario Williams won't make you a playoff contender? What????"

I do have to say though, I LOVE the contract structure the NFL uses. It's a little counter-intuitive, in that it's not much of a "contract" if it can be voided at any time (more like a "salary term"). But in MLB, for example, you NEVER see big money players being cut (or traded really) because the team would have to eat the entire contract. Alex Rodriguez probably would have been cut 25 times now if he were in the NFL.

I'd be down to scrimmage.. Could you tell me what are your money plays? and what defensive plays you like to normally run?
 
If you thought the Lions were insane in Madden before, Reggie Bush won't help that.

Honestly, Best can be just as effective (in Madden). He's got the speed. Just gotta call the right plays for him.

Haha, not necessarily. When I had him in Madden 12, I didn't really use him any differently than I do with CJ. Just the off tackle runs. His speed/acceleration wasn't quite as good...but 95-96 is still nothing to scoff at. I do wish there was more to running the ball in this game though...but I guess really, that would take better AI who understood how to work together and take the proper angles.

So, do I have to do a three part name for the SD Chargers? Should my initials be SC or SDC or SD?

You don't HAVE to do anything, man. Be however creative you want to be. Some people get much more into it than others. Really, the idea behind it was just to see how hilarious the headlines could be in the in-game news feed.

I was actually in this league for about a season on Madden 12. Got to the Super Bowl and lost the greatest Madden game ever played.

I had no idea we were doing that. I named my guy "Crazy Matt" and pretend he owns a car dealership and coaches a team.

"Crazy Matt's got crazy prices for your used Quarterbacks and Buicks!"

I might've quit Madden forever if that kick had actually gone through.
 
That was a heartbreaker. It looked like it went through, I was standing, and then... no good. I think it was just over 50 yards. You tackled me in the backfield for a loss one or two plays prior and that was what took me out of FG range.

yeah, if the Bucs can trade for Revis they suddenly look worth hanging on to next year!

And on the Welker front, good for him. New England are fools for not offering him $6 mil/year, this will come back to bite us next year when Gronk and Hernandez are hurt again. This is coming from a Pats fan.
 
ya im kinda hoping for a lottery draft for team at the start of the league i think it would be fun and interesting i had one of the last picks in the league for teams still had a ton of fun with my team this year in madden.

I read up on the official league selection process last year and while its kinda cool, I dont really like the idea of it here. Seems much more grounded the way this league did it.
 
I think the selection process we used this year was fine.

The other league's process was interesting to be involved in, but it really was a shot in the dark on what team you ended up with. That didn't matter to a lot of folks over there because they can win with any team, but it really was a disadvantage for the lesser players.
