CAGLS: Madden 13 Gentlemen's League - We Finished! Thanks for Playing!

Honestly, this is a rough draft of what I'm thinking my list will be.
If green bay is there I will take them. Its my favorite team and Its the only team I'm actually set on. After that I have to decide between dallas, Baltimore, Detroit, Carolina, Buffalo, Chicago, San fran, or Tennessee. I might go with a team and try to build them up like Tampa, Miami or Indy. But seriously though if someone really really wants a team like Buffalo, ill take them off my list because honestly after green bay I don't care who I get and I wouldn't want to screw someone out of their favorite team. Also considering Seattle, that d is pretty nice.

Hmmm maybe just maybe i will get my team by the way n8 i will be around today so dont worry about my list but if u could send it to me that would be great becuz for some reason its no longer in my sent file
 
I just need 18 more people to pick their team so I can see who is left. No point in filling out a list when you are the last person lol.
 
Well im almost positive that aftershock is taking the falcons n8 the saints and everyone else i have no clue
 
are you guys gonna try to start the league when the game comes out on tuesday? I'd like to take a team but I dont know if I am going to be able to get the game as soon as it comes out.
 
I heard from people that have review copies that they released a roster update today for the early release.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think I remember someone saying that we were gonna start as soon as the first roster update came out. That being said I'm not sure when that is...they may have already come out with the update, or it might come out once preseason games are done and real rosters are finalized.

Based on his posts, I'd think you'd be right. But we can't just assume and move on. He didn't send me a list, so there's no telling if something changed for him. He should know to be checking the thread like everybody else though. Hopefully it won't be a "he's at work till 7 PM" kind of thing.

As for me, if I was taking the Saints, wouldn't I have been in Group 0? :whistle2:s
 
okay so this is the first online franchise (or whatever its called) that I've ever played in any sports game. how exactly does it start? do you get a league name and a password or something? and then I'm assuming its up to the teams involved in each game to determine a playing time? and is the season schedule exactly the same (at least the first season) as the nfl schedule?

sorry for the n00b questions, I just want to get my shit together for when we actually start.

Yes, you will either be invited to the league or provided with a league name and password. The schedule (to my understanding) will be the same as the real '12-'13 season schedule. You determine a time/date with your opponent and send him/her an invite to that game whenever you guys are both online.

Fairly simple really. As long as everyone is active, it has the potential to be one of the most fun experiences you'll have on a sports game! ;)

No problem, man. Really, it's still pretty early. Everybody's just excited.

I'm also going to go with my home team. Tennessee Titans. I may regret that decision, lol...but since we're starting earlier than last year, I should have more drafts to build them up, haha.

LUCKY! I'm in Chattanooga TN, just a few hours from Atlanta. I'm a die-hard ATL Falcons fan myself.
 
I too am going to go with my hometown team the new York football giants, to quote Chris Berman. Ugh I felt dirty typing that last part lol.

Where is KasterDB at he was a huge broncos fan and said he would be back but i havent heard from him at all. he would love denver this year im going to send him a PM since we need people i just remembered.

It's ok. As I said, people are just excited. I think anybody who receives a PM today that says "PICK YOUR fuckING TEAM MAN!!!!" shouldn't take it personally, lol. :lol:

Oh, and just so it's known, excluding DVO's since he's here, I only received lists for h3adkilla, Swift900, and labelmeoriginal. Everybody else, we'll be waiting on them to post.
 
Maybe I've been a little impatient here but I've been checking this every few minutes pretty much since I woke up...safe to say no actual work will get done today.
 
It wasn't pushy it was more of a "fuck I hope I get the Broncos" I figured I wouldn't have too many issues going to get my ass handed to me mind as well do it repping the team I love :D
 
Sorry for the double post, do you guys know if CAG has a fantasy football advice thread? I am drafting 2nd overall tomorrow in a ppr league with 6 points touchdowns and debating on Ray Rice or Aaron Rodgers. They are giving out 2 point bonuses for 300 yard games and 5 point bonuses for 400 yard games. Has me rethinking my all time draft a back first strategy X.X

well im right after steggy so IN CASE IM NOT HERE TO PICK: I'll take the Buffalo Bills. And if for some reason steggy takes the Bills, I'll take the 49er's as my back-up team.

If it's a "yes or no" thing for everybody, then I think we should. Also, I saw the other league was talking about leaving coach firing on. I don't like that idea at all. There's no telling what the logic will be behind firings, and I'd hate to see someone lose all their progress with their coach just because of a few bad games or something. It's not like you wouldn't have the option of bringing in a new coach if you WANTED to change things up either. You could just retire your current coach and create a new one. But at least then, losing your progress/XP level would be a choice.

His availability says 5 PM CST...which is when the Madden download should finally go live. By then, we'll all be bouncing off the walls, lol. He lives in the Central time zone (I'd guess Wisconsin), and I know he's a Brewers fan...and he has a picture of Aaron Rodgers as his avatar. Thanks for being ready. Lets try not to have everybody posting their choices in the thread though. Not that people should be too worried about someone "stealing" their team. But as the discussion in here picks up, it'll be harder for me to keep up with.

Anyone who wants to PM me their top 5 or something is welcome though.
 
I'm for creating new coaches, and the whole firing coaches i mean it would be a neat little aspect but theres no telling how they have it programmed and how easy or hard it is to get fired so i say for at least the first season to keep it off. that's just my opinion.

I just don't see the purpose of it. The people that it's going to affect are already going to be having bad seasons, miss the playoffs, and have to sit and watch the rest of the league play for a couple weeks. Why kick them in the nuts while they're down? lol. I guess you could argue it's another one of those "realistic" things. I just don't see the point.
 
No, i totally agree. There's no reason to do it, if this was a really really serious league like the official league i would turn it on and then if a coach gets fired boot the player and bring in someone off the waiting list, but in this league there is no reason for it. Unless we get a waiting list.
 
Just to play devils advocate, say we had coach firings turned on. At the end of the season wouldn't the fired coaches be able to compete for a job with other teams that fired their coach?

Sort of like they do in NCAA right now. In the offseason you can accept a job offer from another team that isn't renewing their head coach. The commish also has the power to force a team to stick with a specific coach.

I don't care what we do either way but I think it has potential to be a neat aspect of the league. Maybe not for this league, but generally speaking.

LOL...I actually love that idea (in a highly competitive, tough to get in league). To me, that's the only thing that would make the feature useful.
