An argument could be made for "best ever"... I'm not that old that I would see Luckman play, and I know he has most, if not all the records for Chicago, but a quick look at his stats, and they seem meh. Obviously total passing TD's and yards would be thrown out the window b/c all they did was run, but his TD to INT ratio is 137 to 132.
The only NFL championship game stats I could find for Luckman is the 73-0 game they won, and he threw 3/4 for 88 yards, and 1 TD.

But without a doubt, Cutler is 2nd Best Ever, and definitely the best in the Super Bowl era.

Another thing to make sure you're aware of here is that Schaub is in the last year of his deal...and as it was recently discovered, you might not get a chance to negotiate with him before he hits the open market. I don't know if that changes your outlook on the trade (or the pick involved...since right now you resubmitted it with a 2nd rounder), but it's worth mentioning.

i think u can call the saints an open team my friend seemed so interested in the league and once he joined seemed like a ghost i will have to talk to him again tommrow at work but he doesnt seem to understand that posting in thread and keeping up with shit is important and i dont feel like he is a good fit for the league if he keeps this up i would say sim his game this week and let the person playing him play the computer

I didn't even think about that. Drop if its ok with you I think it's better if we hold off on the deal. I've already been rejected by Schaub on a contract offer....I have home exactly what he wanted and he rejected so you may not want to take that risk with him in light of what n8 recently shared about last year contract players in a trade.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. He never posted in this thread once. I tell ya, man, I feel like I need to start running a background check on your "boys" because they've really been flaming out. It makes me really nervous allowing any new members to do any trading.

I already knew Schaub was in his last year. It's not a dealbreaker for me since I could franchise tag him, but if you want to drop out of the deal, that's up to you.

Seems like a sidestop from my point.... at what point do u play subs? based on your play i do not understand why i ever have to take a knee...

:wall: Really? You cannot comprehend when you ACTUALLY have the ability to end the game by kneeling? You can't figure out when there is a small enough amount of time on the clock and your opponent has no more timeouts, so they can no longer stop you from ending the game?

Read what I am typing. The CPU continued to play extremely aggressively, even though it was down by 22+ points. It was running a hurry up offense, and throwing the ball on every single down. Because of this, the 4th quarter went by incredibly slowly. Some of their possessions lasted less than 20 seconds. This is EXACTLY the same situation as a human player continuing to air the ball out even though they're losing big, and throwing pick 6's. Should you blame the defensive team for playing defense? Hell no. The blame 100% falls on the offense for being too dumb to recognize that the game is out of reach, and allowing it to just get completely out of hand.

I'm not going to start kneeling the ball with 2:00+ left in the 4th quarter when the CPU has all 3 timeouts and is aggressively (and stupidly) trying to mount a comeback. If they had played like a normal team would considering the score, I wouldn't have had like 6 possessions in the 4th quarter...most of which were inside the 50 yard line.

As for when you should play your subs, there has never been an enforceable point of "you have to play your subs now". The only thing that has ever been an issue was people not allowing the game to end. Doing things like running for a 1st down and then just diving on the ground instead of breaking a long TD run, running out of bounds on a potential pick 6, etc. has ALWAYS been considered "going beyond the call of duty" because those are cases where the scoring team did nothing wrong. What isn't ok is going with a 5-wide hurry up, airing the ball out down the field, and using your timeouts. I ran the ball. I kept the clock moving. Are you seriously telling me you don't see the difference?
 
I find your points laughable at best. Can you seriously not tell me that attempting to score 5 tds with the same back, never at any point seemed excessive? Just seems like a joke when you are trying to run a 'clean' league and discourage people from doing a lot of stuff that many nfl teams may not bat an eye at considering the situation......

He accused me of mining XP for Chris Johnson. If people want to just say "go for it" against the CPU though, we can definitely talk about that. I don't feel that's what I was doing, since, ya know...they could have tackled me and stuff. But if that's how people view it, we can talk about. I just think there's a huge difference between running the ball for about 10 yards per carry and going 5 wide and getting 40 yard passing plays. My 21 points in the 4th quarter would be miniscule compared to what a passing team could put up. And to me, that's the slippery slope.

Read the last paragraph. There is no logical point to make people play subs. How would we even enforce that? The reason you would do it is to guarantee avoiding injury. Honestly, that's the biggest folly I can condemn myself for. I'm lucky Johnson didn't break his leg or something...and it's definitely something I'll think about in the future. Bringing in Ringer wouldn't have changed much though, as I was averaging 10 yards a carry with him as well. The CPU just played like an idiot in that game. I shouldn't have had the opportunity to score that many points.

And going for it on 4th and ten and getting a first down, you can always tackle me short???

Passing for 40yds and pulling off 10yds per carry is practically the same thing

I hold everyone to a higher standard. When someone does something douchey...I call them a douche, yes. That has no bearing on my ability to be fair or honest. If anything, it helps with that. Nobody gets a free pass. Doc and I had an issue...got through it...and he's still here. What relevance does that have to the current topic of conversation?

I would agree. But it seems like he has legitimate questions (or at least he's claiming he does) about the difference between running the ball and happening to gain 10 yards as opposed to lining up 5 wide and throwing a 40 yard pass. That's a little alarming. I do agree though, against the CPU, I guess the argument of "who cares" is valid. But ultimately, one is the right way to end a game and the other isn't. And if it extended into human vs human games, it would definitely cause problems.

But overall, yeah...we're typing for no reason.

More so my uneasiness for trying to watch a full Packers game... I need something to distract me from the game at the same time as watching it... this season has been dreadful.

Was just curious about any cpu rules if any existed, wasn't necessarily a jab in any way. Or not intended.
 
When you enter negotiations with a player, is there any way of identifying what the average compensation for that position is? I am having a hard time trying to find players salary in game.

Ok, well for your benefit...you're not required to sub guys. That's at your discretion. But end the game the way a coach would end it. Whether it's vs the CPU or human, anybody who ever got mad at you for running the ball and "gaining too many yards" would be an idiot. If you get to a point where you can let the clock run out (ie. opponent has no timeouts, or clearly doesn't intend on using them), then let the clock run out. Taking a knee when an opponent has timeouts becomes a bit of a gray area because they could just randomly decide to use one (especially with EA logic CPU). In general, as long as you're not prolonging the game with unnecessary plays, you're fine. Someone may still get mad at you, or interpret the rules differently, but that's just going to happen from time to time. For the most part, common sense is your friend.

You probably wouldn't believe me at this point, but after my last run in the game, I was in field goal range as the clock dipped under :40. I didn't kick the field goal because there was no point. I sat there and watched the clock run out. I think the CPU may have even had a timeout left, but didn't bother to use it. The reason there wasn't a set policy for this kind of thing is because it's really filed under the "play the game like a real coach" rule. But as we've learned with other situations, some people like having everything laid out in detail.
 
the tampa bay coach is a dick in real life though if u take a knee his guys are still coming at u and bill belick is a douche in real life as well he doesnt care he goes for the kill the whole damn game so thats might be where some people get confused as well lol
 
I had a great game going with Dark Tower before a desync. We're going to try again tomorrow night.

I saw one penalty I've never seen before in a Madden game. I was in the red zone and Cutler dropped back to pass. No one was open in the end zone, so I started scrambling. I was running towards the left sideline, stopped, turned backwards, and threw a pass all the way across the field to Brandon Marshall in the back right corner of the end zone. It was amazing until they called him for illegal touching. I guess he stepped out over the backline while improvising a route when I was scrambling. I'm shocked they can get that logic right, but screw up so many other things. The funny part is he wasn't even the intended receiver. My accuracy was just off from throwing while running backwards.
