Call of Duty 3 General Discussion

I haven't spent too much time with the new maps but from what I have played they seem OK. Gonna spend some more time with them today to really get a feel.
I don't think the maps are horrible, but I'm not having a lot of luck with them gamewise. There is only one I really like, that's Crossing, Stalag and La Bourgad are fine, but I haven't played either that much. Stalag is badly set up for capture the Flag, the axis will always die. Wildwood looks ok, and if I was a better player I would like it more, and Ironclad is shit on a stick.
I really like the three I have played so far, Stalag, Crossing and La Bourgad and really don't think that Stalag is badly set up so that the Axis dies. If you're a good player than you'll remain a good player and pull your team through. I haven't really played Wildwood and haven't put much time into Ironclad, but it seems decent.
Meh there not too bad. I liek the original maps better. Also it's slow going when it's tring to set a ranked game up on a new map. There are usually only 8-10 people who get into a room after a 5-6 min wait. It seems like a lot of people didn't buy the new maps.
I haven't noticed this at all. Ever since the last patch everything has been crisp, clear, and easy going for me to connect. I still get the No Game Session Available ever now and again, but it has definitely improved over what it was. I've had one other new funky glitch similar to No Game Session Available, but have only had it once and have not been able to recreated it.

I think all of you are being too tough on the maps.

Really? Hmm Werid. I can basically tell when it's going to be a new map or not. Like I said when its a new map it takes a pretty long time to get atleast 10 people in the room. When it's an old map the room gets to 12-16 in no time which is great. I'm sure it will speed up once more people decide to stop being cheap and pony up the 10.00 and buy the new maps.

I Think I was on Axis for the Stalag and I joined a game already in the middle of it. The other team was at the gate towers and anytime you would try to get by they would kill you. The gate is open and it's impossible to get through. I would die every three seconds and spawn in the same 2 places which all had the other team running around. There was no chance in hell to get through the gate, no protection. It's very uneven to have the other team have things to hide behind getting through the gate the otherone is fucked over. It's not being good or not, I'm not very good, it's about the map being uneven. When the ten minutes I played I think I killed one person and made longer than 30 seconds about twice. It wasn't just be, it was the whole team. Luckily no one else was playing that map so I didn't have to go back.

I think i'm just about done with this game. Soooo many shitty players that are ranked from 20-23 that are usually on my team suck assshole. I haven't been on a good team in more then 2 days.

There are 2 fixes that come to mind that need to be dealt with in COD3 MP. First off the Support Gunner. Not only can he kil you from across the map but he can also go prone in less then a second.

Also they need to give people somethign to play for. If you win the match you should be awarded extra points. I mean why even play a team game if you gain nothing from winning? In a bunch of Flag games or War people will not get the last point just so they can pad there stats. What ever happened to the point of playing was to win?
People complain about the prone gunner thing. I have never been able to prone that fast.
Pushing the ADS L trigger and flop right to the floor. They should make you hold the crouch button to go prone like everyone else.

Agreed. I've been 20 for way too long and consistently score between 1/2 and get 30-40 kills on average and heavy assault for either team, which I don't see too many people doing. I went upto 21 one time and then the next match after I came in first again it dropped me back down to 20 and there are far far too many people with True Skill ratings ranked way too high that hardly know how to play. Still, that means more kills for you.

Secondly, you address another issue that is quite true as well and that is of people no longer trying to go for the win in War or CTF because they want to pad their score, but I think that has to do more with the fact that there is less incentive in winning (I still have an 88W 5XL) and that the developers placed the achievements at astronomically high point levels. 40,000 is just way way too high and I think that we can all agree on that. 20,000 would have been fine or even 10,000 less suffice for me. But at least I can be truthful and say that I too have um...padded my points somewhat.

If any of you want some player matches/CAG match I'm going to be on in a bit so either I will, or you, send an invite to a game. Otherwise I'm going to do some rank tonight so that I can at least stay rank within the 2000s.

I just got on right now. I'm doing some ranked ATM but if you want to do Player Match let me know and invite me, I'll play for a bit.

Haven't had any problem today.

By the way, there's no fucking way that juicyTDK or whatever his name is has been able to get to 40,000+ points so fast unless he's a bot playing nonstop 24 hours a day.

so is this a day to day problem? im going to be HELLA pissed if this is a random, ongoing issue.

No never mind, I take back what I said calling him a bot, but i still can't believe as to how many points he's accrued in such a short time span. I've played against him 3 times now and he has a mic, but out of those three time, twice I killed him in score: my 35-40 to his 23-30 or so. One time he came in the lead with 73 points so maybe he just pulls off a bunch of 70 point matches, but still. I've also played against my bud XatxX (can't remember his full s/n) and he's great, especially as a medic. I've also played against the Ace squad a bunch and they're fanatastic. Solid 40-50 points a match every time.

By the way, I saw zew the other day playing some MP regular player matches and I should have joined, but i was in playing ranked with my clan. But fuck, now I'm getting hit from this game and GoW for my Rep. Does rep matter at all because somehow I was at a perfect 100% friendly rating and now have slowly dipped down from 100 to 90 to 60 now And it's all for the weirdest reasons like me singing during the match (what the hell?) my voice sounding funny/playing with my voice (heard people who act gay online, but I don't alter my voice), etc.
Why is it so hard to get in a match online?
what are you talking about? I go on from time to time and play over at my friends house, and all is still well with this game. It usually doesn't take more than 2-3 minutes for a room to fill up. As per a couple of weeks ago, this game was still heavily played and in the top 10 of Live games coming in at number six with a few newcomers (i.e. Crackdown, GRAW2, etc.) topping it. Still, it's my bet that Crackdown will drop out pretty soon as that game can be beaten very fast.

I was never able to connect to an online game with this peice of garbage. The single player was barely worth playing for points too. It really frustrated me and felt like a huge waste of money.

Everytime I log on to a ranked match it take at least 15 minuets to get into a game. It is usually upwards toward half an hours.

wow, the first time i got on it only took me a few seconds.
Revolutionary War? Active reloading for muskets!!!!
A game already exists. Its called History channel civil war. Its not a bad game it plays like call of duty 2. When I played it, it seemed more like a mod for CoD2, then another game.

Yay! Bravo pack. And just when I have the points for it. I'm a happy camper. deadite76, You really shouldn't be too surprised since CoD2 had technically three expansion/map packs.

I'm definitely going to get this as my CoD3 addiction will probably kick right back in for the summer through the 20,000 mark milestone. Aftre reading the article, the maps sound really interesting and I really can't wait to see just how to take advantage of them.

I wish I knew where you guys read that CoD4 will be the revolutionary war, but whatever. All I've heard rumored is it will be set in some modern war.

Sorry for the confusion, I was just adding my own conjecture to what the new release will hopefully be. A more likely guess for me would be the Vietnam War.

Woohoo! I love Depot from the first CoD. This'll be awesome and the good thing about it is that the map pack should be out right around when I come back from my trip. Go Activision!

So who's still playing trying to get the achievements/enjoyment (I really love this game and really kick ass.). Had some great player matches yesterday and a few good ranked, but a lot of people won't stay in the room long enough anymore for it to fill up. They're usually in and then after a moment they're out and gone just as the room is beginning to fill up.

I've had the game about a week and have not been able to find a single online match. I do either quick search or filtered search for ranked games, it creates a room with just me and nothing ever happens beyond that point.

It usually takes abut 30 seconds to a couple of minutes for me. Kind of strange for you. What times are you playing at? I usually start 6 PM PST (9EST) and then go till about 1 or 2 AM (this is when a ton of European (Brits, French, etc.) and Aussies start to play). The Brits and Aussies are hella addicted to this game.

I noticed at gamestop when i looked in the empty cover it had a code for the extra maps. Does that work second hand? Can it be re-used? If I had that code could i just use it with the original COD3?

please let me know if u can.

Thanks
it looked like there wasnt anything covering it... so if u resold the game the downloadable maps wouldnt be included?
Right, it's a Live code. You enter it once and it's redeemed. It can no more be reused than a points card.
can any1 confirm that the map code in the gold version is not re-usable?
it's one time use just like a live subscription code. How hard is that to understand?

Anyone have the Gold Edition of this? I was thinking of picking of COD3: Gold Edition at EB Games this weekend for their B2G1F deal or tust the bare bones edition. I figured for the price it's not bad at all. It was stated above that there's a code that comes with the game like an Xbox Live code you need to download the free content so I would assume it's not already preloaded on the game disc? Is that right? I never bought a Gold Edition version of a game and was just wondering.
