I keep hearing rappers say that they love the game and respect the game and they could never leave the game and now one of them is even called The Game... what the hell is going on?

No, no no...It's all about Triple H having the backstage powers! HE'LL DESTROY YOU AND END ANY PUSH YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD!!!!!! IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GAME!!!!!

I can imagine that "the game" can be whatever you want it to be, but if you really have to ask, it's probably beyond your scope of experience anyway. :D

So does this slang apply to all industries or is "the game" only for rap music? If you worked at McDonalds or something and you wanted to quit would it be appropriate to go into your manager's office and tell him you were sick of the game and the game was not paying enough?

Also, if the game is for rappers only does it encompass all rappers or just a subset of them? For example, are MC Hammer and 50 Cent in the same game but on different teams or something? Also, what about bands like Linkin Park who have one dude rapping - is he in the game but the band isn't? That would seem odd considering they basically work the same job and probably split the paychecks... so many questions...

I think if you wanted to quit McDonald's you might say "I need to get back into the game" or "I've been out of the game."
Speaking of urban dictionary, I'm defined in there.
Is anyone else picturing LL Cool J, $.50, Puffy and some other asshat playing scrabble?
LOL, that's the first time I ever saw 50 cent's name spelled like that. Awesome.

I thought HHH too. He should sue the rapper for using his name...

Then again, I don't think Charles Schultz sued Snoop Dogg for using Snoopy's name....

Wow....you put a lot of thought into those questions. I've never thought of it that way , just sort of accepted as the rap "game".
(I thought you were going to ask us to explain what was going on in that Michael Douglas movie.)
That was a sweet ass movie though, where he ends up jumping off that building and going through the glass ceiling.

"It's time to play the gameee" (yea I was thinking Triple H at first)

Anyways I think "the game" is just put into

1. The Game (a person's nickname like 50 Cent) that's part of the G-Unit group
2. "the game" is somewhat of the MC kind of deal. I think it's more towards being an MC instead of the entire rapping business because most rap songs are somewhat by a MC (not always since some of them don't "flow" on the mic or some thing). But you know how people can freestyle? It's that game I'm guessing.
3. "got game" like flirting skills on getting a girl or guy's phone number
4. "ain't playing no games in life" basically not fooling around like a person would do on a board game or card game?

I think I took this thread too serious...
