Can Wii function as your only system for a hardcore gamer?
I've tried it in a private forum in the past. You complain, and I delete them thinking that you'll chill out. You may not get it, but you're the egregious flamboyant Wii version of those people. Oh and once again I've proven myself to be an ass, eh? You're the only one I've had to 'call out publicly.' Show me another instance that doesn't include you. You can't.
Yeah. By coming out of nowhere and posting and attempting to be a smartass for no reason, which is something you've done multiple times, but I've never reciprocated. I imagine you have some sort of justification in your head, but you haven't given it yet. Instead, you're basing it on the fact that I happened to call someone out on what I thought was a bullshit comment, I responded, and you came in all haughty and itching to prove yourself. I doubt you even read the argument in question, eh? That would be in line with your usual attempts to regulate.

Maybe you haven't noticed this, but if I were being an egregious fanboy about everything, I would have gone off in this thread well before it had any chance to escalate, by saying things like "this is a retarded question, and here's why." Instead I gave a very short and simple "why can't it?" response. I'm not even taking issue with a lot of comments in this thread, because that would be the fanboy thing to do. You'll notice the comments you seem to have stuck in your vagina aren't even all that close to the original question.

Do your goddamn homework. You get onto me for an actual response with validity, and then turn around and compare me to the bullshit posters who...well, I'd throw out links here and there, but what the hell would that solve? You'd likely dismiss them as my attempt to be overly nosey about the habits of others, and I don't feel a need to single out various people when they've got nothing to do with this argument.

I'm clearly not the only one who has had a problem with you amongst the mods in the past. Any post of yours that has ever been deleted was not done so by me and I was not the mod who locked the IWTM thread the second time - whether or not you believe it. I only have to act 'tactless' when I'm dealing with you. Again, if possible, show me where I've proven to be an ass and acted like a tactless authorative figure when dealing with anyone other than you. You still can't.

Two things here.

1. Shrike locked it the second time. I PMed him about it, and it wasn't the nicest conversation in the world, but it certainly wasn't full of insults like your pathetic attempts were. Not to mention that the IWTM was centered out on me, which was total bullshit since several other people were having fun with it. So to pretend like this was something only I was doing - which seems to be your weapon of choice in the midst of pure self-inflicted stupidity - is the best defense you have? Pathetic.

2. I'd say it was tactless to, again, come out of nowhere and start up shit with me purely because you just wanted to be hip to the moment. Again, what is the justification for this thread? None, outside of your bullshit a few posts ago. And while I'd absolutely love to link to your public outbursts after me in the past, you deleted them. So good for you - I can't dig them up. So I guess I can't effectively answer your inquiry, which means we're on even ground considering you can't find shit from me that matches some of the other fanboys running around in other forums.

I just want you to chill out and quit being a goddamn hypocrite. You're a Nintendo/Wii fanboy. We get it.

Let's try this. You quit calling every motherfucker who has a problem with the Wii out and acting exactly like the 360/PS3 clowns that you speak of, and I'll shut up.

Yawn. Do some homework, please.

I don't go around saying bullshit like "hahahah Sony ps3 has teh manufcshur problems, u lose agin Sonyy w000 360 FOREVA." In fact, take a look around you - all those negative threads regarding Sony or MS aren't ever started by me, and I hardly ever post in them. How about I do this from another angle - here's a nice thread, chockfull of fanboyism from both sides. You'll notice I'm in the thread making stupid comments, but none of them are fanboy in nature. I had all the chance in the world to be a dick about this, and yet I don't.

Here's another. Note the flaming, but I'm not the one doing it.

There's countless other examples of this. I mean, I'm in maybe 5 of the PS3 threads from the last month, which is nothing short of amazing when you consider this is high water mark time in terms of flaming, given that two major systems just launched.

Same situation with the 360 boards. Again, I won't name posters, but I don't even compare to the guys who back up their arguments with nothing but spelling errors and useless diatribe. At least I'm making an effort to respond with some goddamn logic and sense.

We've had this discussion multiple times now and the fact remains that you clearly don't know what the fuck you are ever talking about. Instead you drop yourself in, out of context, and proceed to say some negative bullshit. You back this up with a lot of pomp and circumstance because that is easy to do and feels good, but it is all ultimately useless, illusionary, and transparent. Which is good - that means I can continue to assume you have no idea what you are talking about, but that you feel this overwhelming need to sound off.

Keep up the grand work, what with your imagining all these wonderfully terrible things that otherwise everyone else would just consider nothing more than, gasp, an interwebs forum.

Sarausagi might not have logic as far as I'm concerned, but at least they'll just respond back instead of getting all huffy and puffy like some people who aren't even interested in what is being said to begin with. And I'd rather deal with someone who sticks to their guns than becomes a baby out of nowhere any day.

Edit: I'm not going to continue this discussion in this thread any further. It's only derailing any attempt for people to get back to the subject at hand, and I don't want to be party to further OTTness 'round here. So if you want to respond, let's see if you made it to the end of this post and took it to PM if you actually want to respond, which I imagine you would. I would have PMed this, but it exceeded the limits (ho ho ho), and I didn't want to go through the 30 seconds of trouble it would have taken to solve that.
...meh... I just use the leg sweep in fighting games. Over and over and over. I win a solid 40% of the time.

Anyway, I consider myself a pretty serious gamer. Been at it long enough to know what is bullshit and what is not, and most importantly what will make me happy. It ain't the stuff most people seem to think of when they think of hardcore gaming (FPS, fighters, football games and anything else that shows up in tourneys).

I've found that on the whole, I prefer Nintendo's brand of fun over that of other companies. I've enjoyed a fair amount of PS2 games and a lot of 3rd party titles for the 'Cube, GBA, and DS, but with limited exceptions, I can pick up a Nintendo game and really feel satisfied.

Fanboy? Sure. Whatever. I like what I like (and don't spend time trolling the boards for other consoles), and the Wii will probably last me until there are enough games on the other consoles to justify the purchase and the prices drop significantly.
Wow, you've managed to sum up my thoughts almost perfectly. I wouldn't say people like us are 'fanboys' - just 'fans'

Trakan: I don't agree with Strell's methods, but the people he pulls this shit with are people who don't own a Wii or who have no interest in buying a Wii and come here to stir up shit. Strell clearly has an agenda, but christ, he's using it to flame other people with an equally pointless agenda.

As a mod Trakan, you should be above this shit. If you had a problem with Strell, pm him, don't post it in public. That's like the first rule of conflict management.

If you guys have personal issues with someone, talk to them in private; don't throw your dirty laundry all over the place for everyone to see.

This is one reason why I can't stand the internet, and message boards in particular. This thread could've been a cool little place for everyone to share their opinions. Instead, anytime someone sees an opinion that contradicts their own, they have to disect it on the most minute levels and tear a person apart for what boils down to a difference of opinion. Not only is it pointless, but it's a colossal waste of time. Fault for this is spread pretty equally over most parties in this thread, and myself as well in other posts, I'm sure.

The Wii is good enough for me for quite sometime. Others aren't satisifed with just the Wii (or the Wii at all). That's cool. If you've got the means and desire to own other stuff, go for it. Enjoy your games and have fun. Isn't that what this whole hobby is supposed to be about?

Or is it about tearing people apart so you feel good about yourself? I'm confused.

Well I'm just happy I got some good responses out of it. Ultimately it's sort of a pointless thread, since it's both personal preference, and how much developers will support Wii, but even still I like the feedback!

I have to say Nintendo's the only company with hardware I feel warm and fuzzy about. I'm loving Final Fantasy 12, and I'm impressed my PS2 can play it...but I don't hug it afterwords (I'm joking...slightly)
i love my Wii, but my roommate bought a PS3 the other day and then i realized all the Wii is missing.
A $600 price tag?

A "next-gen" racing title where you can't play 2 player?

A blu-ray player?

What exactly is it missing (besides the obvious advanced graphics)?

Indeed. I just don't get many jollies out of running around shooting stuff (GTA being a minor exception) or playing a NASCAR sim. I'm the kind of guy who prefers shaking trees for fruit and using a toothbrush to scrub up muddy paw prints. :)

Do it! Chibi-Robo gets better the further it progresses. The story line with the teddy bear was awesome. The whole game was so incredibly satisfying. So sad that more people didn't get to play it.

Ugh. I totally forgot about Chibi Robo. There's another game on the list of things I need to play/finish.

It'll be 25 or so of the quickest hours you've ever spent as a gamer. Great experience.

Glad I picked it up. Looked awesome to me, and Matt on IGN gave it a great review.

I really crave original stuff like that, and wish the Gamecube had had even more (Pikmen, Luigi's Mansion, Chibi Robo, etc.-really great deep, but extremely original games).

Speaking of Luigi's Mansion, anyone know if there are plan's for a sequel on the WII? That game was unbelievable fun.

Glad to hear this game is good. I picked it up at Kmart for $10. I probably won't get around to playing it for a while though.

I'm so glad someone else loves it! I sometimes feel like I was the only one (so many people bash it).

To me it was like 40% Resident Evil, 40% Ghost Busters, 20% Mario, and incredibly fun. If Nintendo could have released something that original and fun every few months, the Gamecube would have been the best system ever IMO.

A Wii sequel might actually be able to make great use of the Wiimote...

Sorry for the late response, but I just recently heard last weeks CAGcast, and this thread got read! Pretty nifty! Thanks Cheapy!

Answer: Too early to tell.

There are only a handful of dated games for 2007 and not a whole lot more announced. But...just about every person I would call a hardcore gamer had more than one console and at least one handheld plus a fairly capable computer during the 'last gen.'

I think that the "gaming publishers" will find the hype and the exponentially growing user base of the Nintendo Wii very difficult to ignore. Much like the Gameboy Advance and PS2 (resident evil - people forget that the GCN was the more powerful system), you'll notice that just about every game that will be exclusive to one system will find its way onto the Wii. But as far as being a hardcore gamer, it's true you would probably be owning a Wii, a 360, and a PS3. But if I can remember, in the olden days of gaming, you either had an Atari 2600, an Intellivision, or if your parents were rich and you were spoiled, a Colecovision. even more recently, an NES or a Genesis, but never all of them. What's up with the gaming community these days? You really out to be getting out more instead of getting all couped up playing video games. (I like how the Wii recommends you take a break some times). The success of communities like WOW and Second Life bother me for some reason. Hopefully some of you find this the case also and I'm not just thinking I'm some old fogie.

Yeah, WoW and Second Life don't seem like the kind of thing I'd want to spend so much time on. I also wouldn't buy every console, at least not right away...it's just not worth the cost to me.

my imput on this is. i had a 360 and it turned out to be whop had a higher gamerscore and that ruined gaming in my eyes. i was playing crappy games like soccer just to keep my score up and such. with the wii it is going back to what we all on cag do. that is game. i think it can be a stand alone hardcore gamer system if you take into account the m title games are gonna be rare. there is gonna be alot of kiddy game *self plug* "the chicken little game for wii rocks" but all in all i feel it is personal choice i am 28 years old and have owned all major systems except ps3. so to me the wii is fine. many it is other. hence why baskin robbins offers so many falvors to catrer to all walks of life and all kinda gamers
