I've seen so many different thrread that the forum is getting messy. Since we have an official trading thread, maybe we can have an official one for questions too, because after all, this is the Canadian HOT DEALS forum! It's not right when we have more questions than deals. You can ask any question you wan there, ranging from the cheapest 360, HDTVGame delays, Canadian game rental sites all the way to where the cheapest copy of Burnout is. I can assure you that you will get the same amout of replies here, if not more!

Got a question for you guys. I'm a PS3 gamer who mostly plays 1player games with the occasional 2nd person. Best buy is having that 20% off online sale for game accessories so I was wondering if saving $12 is worth it to buy a second controller? I could probably see me using it more for having to do 2player tasks for trophies.
I was also thinking of picking up one of those basic hori fighting sticks for $50 from amazon as I have soul calibur and will be getting SF4 soon. Can i use one of those sticks for 2nd players on the random other games like LBP?
If so I might just say screw a second Dualshock and get the stick.

Hey guys, I have a question about preordering Mana Khemia 2 from RosenQueen. I want to get into the series, but thought I might as well get the Alchemic Art Collection becuase I like extra stuff, even if it's useless. I'll end up buying the first game eventually, but I don't want to miss out on something I'd potentially want. Anyway, I remember in the past people had to get games from RosenQueen from Goomba. Was it because they had bad shipping rates or something (and if so, are they still bad)?

To me, $12 off would be worth it. You need a 2nd controller since people eventually come over. Also, if one loses its charge, you may have another one that is charged and ready to go, right? If you want the true CheapAss solution, and if BB still sells them, buying a PS2 to PS3 adapter would be a better idea as long as you have a PS2 controller. Just forget the Sixaxis motion.

No idea about the fighting sticks, I guess the question is if non-fighting games would accept it as an input? For example, I can use my Guitar Hero guitar as a controller in the XMB, but not in games apart from GH or RB. A fighting stick might act the same.

Ahh, thanks Cthulhu8u.
I might look into an adapter for the time being as I have many PS2 controllers lying around. But I think I might still grab a fight stick as I have Soul Calibur 4 now and Street Fighter 4 on the way.

Anyone have any experience with that Hori Fighting Stick 3? It is the cheap solution but I'm not a hardcore fighter so it's just gonna be for the fun of playing arcade-like.

Anyone know when Singstar Queen is coming out? At Wikipedia, it says the 16th of this month. Best Buy and Futureshop say the 6th, and the EBGames website (.com) says the 4th, yet when I called the Gamestop at Metrocentre earlier today, the CSR said he couldn't find the release date and he doesn't know when its coming out (though he did mention, because he couldn't find it, it should be coming out soon).

I want my QUEEN already!

I have just finished Infamous and will probably not play it anymore after going through and doing everything. It was an awesome game but the replay and sidequests aren't quite there to keep in my collection. What do you guys think...
a) Should I try to sell on Kijiji for $50ish and most likely get $40-45
b) Trade it into Goozex for 1000 pts and wait for another newer game to queue for me

Personally I'm a big fan of goozex, so I'd do that; I'm in the process of acquiring games that are woth 100-250 points, and trading in inFAMOUS would net me anywhere from 4-10 games! I also plopped down the $135 and got the 5000 points/20 tokens gift card, so I should be set on game purchases for the next little while!

Heh, ya that would get you alot of games. Seeing how I picked up inFamous for $30 when BB/FS had that sale it makes it a decent deal to get 1000 points. Even if I have to wait for other games. I actually am waiting right now for confirmation for a PS2 game I shipped so I can get my 650 points. That plus the 1000 for inFamous would be a nice starter to get some of the older games that I would like to play (Bioshock for example)

I love goozex too and bought the 5,000.

But if you only want a newish game, with BBVs deal I'd sell the infamous if you can get $40+, go buy 3 at BBV for about that and do a trade 3 for an upcoming one or wolfenstein to return. You could always put whatever you end up with on goozex for the 1,000

If you'd go for older games, then goozex no question

When EB has its T3G1F promos, can you trade 3 games for a game you dont want and get a full refund(like store credit, not the games back so you can get a different game) ?

Not usually, but it seems to depend on the Manager. One of my local EB's only let's you change your pre-order to an existing T3 title. Luckily for us, the current crop of T3 titles has a boatload of great games.
If I previously traded in three games for a T3G1F could I trade in the identical three games for another game without hassle?
I've done it just don't remember if it was the same clerk both times but it was the same EB

Generally no, but that's what we use the gaming guarantee games for. Currently Wolfenstein.

Yes, but try to be discrete about it (different store, or at least different CSR). If they start getting too many of the same games in or think something fishy is going on they can deny you.

Does anyone know how much the MW2 Prestige edition will be in Canada? I can't believe I'm actually considering it. Please, someone convince me not to get it.

$180? I was at EB and heard the CSR tell a caller that they weren't taking any more pre-orders for the Prestige Edition because they can't guarantee enough copies.

You can get Nightvision Goggles for $90 through ThinkGeek, which are probably of higher quality at that.

Also you can pretty much get three games for the price of that bundle. So there you go.

I don't know if I buy it... this is Activision we are talking about. I bet that they are not going to be as limited as selling out immediately. This is most likely some PR talk to hype up demand for them so people don't assume that it'll be like the halo 3 cat helmet 'limited edition'.

Question about bumping up trade values (to $23.33) at EB: Does that apply to any games or do they have to be at a specific range?

Hey guys,
Not sure quite what to do. Just started using Goozex, first trade I sent my game to the address given so I could start racking up points. Sent using lettermail in a bubble envelope. That was on July 30, here we are a week and a half later and it still hasn't arrived. Plus I got neg feedback but will change if the game arrives. I opened a dispute to give it a couple extra days.
Anyone else having trouble with slow mail at canadapost (btw it was shipped from SK to ON)?
Anything else I can do? I do have my shipping receipt as well as pics with the game and the envelope with his address on it for proof.

Has to be $8 or more TIV.. see http://tivs.ca/education/faq/ for more details.

That kind of sucks, haven't had a problem like that yet. What did you put as the return address? If you used your own hopefully it will come back.. if you used Goozex I'm not sure what would happen since that's in the states. With the pics I think goozex should help you out though, good luck.

Well I used my address as the return address. Didn't think it was too smart to put Goozex's in the states. I guess what I will do is wait another couple of days, hoping that it shows up at the guys house. If not then before the 7 day dispute wait is over, contact goozex and send them the scans/pics and maybe they will reimburse me or something like that.

Question: I remember hearing once that if you trade like 5 games into EB, they give you an EDGE card. Is that true?

Quick Question: Does HMV break street dates?

I looked at their website and saw that The Beatles: Rock Band was in stock at some locations. However, I'm not sure if its just listing the possible amounts of the game they have, and they do not have it on the shelves at the moment.

I doubt a store would knowingly or intentially break street dates, since that could have a negative impact on their relation with distributers. A brash or unknowing employee may break street dates, however.

I've only ever gotten a street date broken at Walmart and Blockbuster, but this was because of an inexperienced employee error. Most places will respect the street date. I've even had Future shop not sell me a game even though everywhere else was selling it because their flier stated that it came out the following day after the actual street date.

Question: If I pre-order something from EB with the minimum deposit required, can I go back a few days later and fully pay for the whole pre-order?

Sure, why not? I am sure they will love to get your money (hopefully you have trade credit!).

Why do you want to pay in full right now? Make sure to guarantee the price?

I think GG works even if you put only $5 down, because you pre-ordered it.

It's all credit. It's for the PSP Go. I kinda deposited the minimum (which is $25 for consoles), but I figure it might be better to just pay off the whole thing than worrying about losing my EDGE card. Seems like a much better option since I can just show them a piece of identification if I lose my receipt (than if I lost my EDGE card). Unless of course, I'm not understanding the whole situation correctly and holding onto the card is the much smarter option.

I've got $250 in my EDGE card so it's just sitting there, and I'm 100% sure I'm buying the Go.

You can take down the number of your Edgecard and a receipt with Edge card number... if you lose the Edge Card, it will be info useful to get back your credit. I am not 100% sure of this, better ask EB.

Oh cool. I guess that could work. I've got many receipts with that EDGE card number, but I guess I should ask a CSR to make sure.

when bbv does their trade 4 promos what is the min value for each game ?
i have a few to unload but they all come in just short of eb's $8 minimum
Anyone know the price of Aion at BB or FS? It's not listed on their site and it came out today.
I think it's $50, $60 for the CE.

Here's a question for all you Goozex users out there! I have officially run out of my trade tokens, and I have about 30 games on my active request list, and about 60 games on my request 'on hold' list' my question is, should I move the 30 active games to 'on hold', or can I leave them active without worrying about losing my spot and such? I'm worried I'll get matched up for a game, and be passed over and get sent to the back of the line or something.

You'll get passed over but you will not lose your place in line. Basically, you keep your spot, but are put into the "restricted" catagory until you buy some more tokens at which point you get moved back into the "active" list.

Ask the EB guy to call in for you. The CSRs at head office will not transfer over cards anymore due to MASS FRAUD (thanks RFD) I believe was the phrase that was yelled at me XD.

But rest assured the card has been used up and is long gone. I get people who lose their cards in all the time, poor guys. When you call it's just like "eum... there's no money here on the card".
So essentially there's no different between "on hold" and "active but not enough points/tokens"?
Correct

I just ran out of points with pending matches today and bought the 120 for $60, to lower the cost to .50 a trade. Hopefully goozex is around for awhile.
