This PlayStation 2-exclusive disc comes packed with direct arcade conversions of Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold, and Street Fighter Alpha 3, along with Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix (otherwise known on consoles as Pocket Fighter). All titles feature standard arcade, versus, and practice modes, with each Alpha entry offering survival and “dramatic battle,” which pits one underdog against 2 fighters in a tag team match.

I guess it's good news for fighting fans who haven't gotten enough of the Alpha series. Anyone interested at all in the compilation?

they annoy me, they could have put it all on one disk with the first anniversary game was released but they didnt, and soon as this wasnt included I knew they were goin to do this crap.

I already own Alpha 2 (PS1), Alpha 3 (DC), and Pocket Fighter, so I'll probably pass on this compilation.

For those who don't know, Pocket Fighter is a very basic fighting game in which deformed street fighter charcters do battle and get their attacks enhanced by picking up gems that get scattered on the ground. Each character has a number of different costumes they can change into while performing enhanced attacks, so it's kinda fun to watch, but it's very very simple 2D fighting, and can get rather dull.

I'm in, because I'm a Street Fighter whore.

I would love to just drop $200 and get an huge compliation of every Capcom fighting game to date. Shit. $300. Let's end the half-assed collection madness here.

i'm so in.

i was gonna post this news but i'm always last to get new news lol.

Professor Oreo:
alpha 3 for DC is not arcade perfect. lots of people dont play the DC version. dhalsim and akuma are missing major stuff. hopefully the ps2 version will be arcade perfect like mvc2.
hope they include the new characters from the psp version of alpha 3.
I'd rather have only arcade perfect versions if that's what the rest of the disc is.

Depending upon the price point I'll probably pick this one up. I have too many fond memories of Alpha from way back when and I know I spent ages with Alpha 3 as well. Toss in Pocket Fighter, even if it is too simplistic, and I'll bite. I wish it was for XBox instead because, seriously, more fighting games + more Live games = happier me, but whatever!

hopefully it comes out $30 and below. 20 would be great. MMXC costs 30 when it came out. Capcom classics collections costs 20. anyone remember how much MegaMan:AC costs when it came out? SF:AC costs 30.

Excuse me....but did you just say the PS2 MvC2 is arcade perfect???

MMA for PS2 and gamecube cost $30, xbox cost $20

Also, keep in mind that by the time the XB version released, the MSRP for the PS2 and 'Cube versions had dropped to $20 as well.

Not even the Dreamcast port of MvC2 is arcade perfect. PS2 version is probably the worst of the ports.

It's SUPER AWESOME how I JUST bought alpha and alpha 3 for the Playstation. Oh well....if these have no load times I'll bite. Actually I'll probably bite anyway as I've been really into the street fighter games again as of late.

sorry that's a super typo. you should see the mvc2 thread before this one.
ultra typo. i mean arcade perfect for mvc2 for dc version.

Arikado:
yes mvc2 for DC is near arcade perfect. other than the small speed differences and a small glitch or two gone it is perfect. you will not notice differences. definitely check out the mvc2 thread it has lots of info i posted.

I was under the impression that the Xbox version was the worst.

I think the XBox version was the most disappointing given that it didn't have Live support, which IMO they had no real excuse for since Capcom vs SNK 2 had already been released with live support

All of the SF games run great in Mame (except for III and any variants of it) and they play better with real arcade controls, IMO.

There was an artcile on snk-capcom.com dated 2003 that I read last night where a Capcom VP said that they had to take out Live due to the license terms with Marvel.

I'm well aware of that. My point was that there hasn't been a 100% genuine arcade perfect port of MvC2.

nope i have all 3 and xbox is definitely better than ps2. the ps2 has major slow downs with super cancelling and it has alot of random screen glitches/random flashes (i dont know how to describe this really)

I have Alpha 1 & 2 for my Saturn, but I heard that theres a version of Alpha 3 for the saturn (Ive never seen it) that is arcade perfect, even better than the DC version. Anyone have any experience with A3 on the Saturn?

Yea, it's arcade perfect, uses the 4 mb ram cart, its import only.

I'm assuming these are straight arcade ports... so I guess Alpha 3 won't have Guile or any of the other characters they added for the PS1 version?

correct

Oh well... I want to support this sort of thing, but I'll probably pass. I've already bought Pocket Fighter once and Alpha 3 twice, so I don't really have a good reason to pay extra for less-featured versions of the same games. Unless of course they bring it to XBOX and add Live support.
