Yes this is MRSP, so I fully expect comments bitching about this thread, but for those of who are actually interested in Lords of Shadow and have heard practically NOTHING about in terms of previews or an actual release date, Gamestop may have some info for us as well as detailing this LE version of the game. Fun fact: Xbox 360 will have 2 game discs, so the game must be pretty damn huge to warrant that!

*UPDATED* Official Release Date is 10/5/10

*Preorder at Gamestop and get a T-shirt
Definitely weak for $20
Agreed, there better be some nice preorder incentives to entice buyers, but Amazon and Gamestop have yet to show any bonuses yet.

I was hoping at least the PS3 version would get more exclusives on us as usual, but not even that. Hopefully someone else will come out with something better, either that or lower the price by $10.
a 40 page art book and a soundtrack for $20. How novel! Seriously that is a weak ass Collectors Edition.
Not as weak as the MGS:pW LE. $10 for an art book, when Persona 4 had a free art book with pre-order.

Being a Castlevania fanboy (I know what a fanboy is), normally I'd say that $20 for both the soundtrack and artwork is a deal... but from what I've read so far, it seems that neither Michiru Yamane (listen to Curse of Darkness' OST and tell me that isn't worth $20) or Ayami Kojima (look at official art for Symphony of the Night and Order of Ecclesia and that's worth about $10) are part of the game, so it's hard to say if it'll be any good. Besides, judging by current LE's, this isn't really all that great. In short, normally it's worth it, but in this case I doubt it does. Still, being a Castlevania fan(boy), I'll mostly still buy it.

And EO III has a free 60 page art book with pre-order. Konami needs to do better than this to get my attention/money ~_~.

I'd get this if it was $10 more but for $20, no way.

Plus, who knows if this game will be anything more than a GoW rip off.

Considering it hasn't even been formally announced yet, I highly doubt that is the final package. Wasn't that the same mockup Amazon had up last week before it came down?

Those are stock pictures not mock-ups. You think they aren't official enough? Unless there's another picture of some statue or some shit, there's a good chance this is all you're getting.

Maybe buy this on clearance/sale. I played this at E3 and it is a decent game but this LE is not worth the extra $20, IMHO.

Konami seems to be counting on Castlevania fan boys to snap this up at full price, and they are probably right. It Is called "Limted Edtion" not CE, SE, Hunter, Ultimate, fat cash grab, so maybe it will truely be limited?

:)

I'm a fairly big Castlevania fan, but not so much for the 3D games, though Curse of Darkness was alright. But, I'm not really sold on this game yet; and the weak amount of stuff in this edition certainly isn't making me any more interested, especially at $20 extra.

Just made a post in kmart thread. If they are able to get the LE edition with a 20 dollar game coupon, the coupon will be enough to offset the price and I will get it then. Other than that, I'll wait till gamestop drops it to 30 dollars because they couldn't sell them :p

Just like everybody said, it's too much. And we don't know if Mercury will be able to fully translate the Castlevania feeling to 3D. Don't get me wrong, from what I've seen so far, it looks very promising. I just don't want to raise my expectations, so I don't get disappointed.
... Ayami Kojima (look at official art for Symphony of the Night and Order of Ecclesia and that's worth about $10) ...
Not to be nitpicking, sir, but Ayami Kojima didn't provide the artwork for Order of Ecclesia. It was Masaki Hirooka =)

Thing is, Josh (SHC-Gamer) has stated several times that it's very unlikely for Kmart to get any LE/CE versions of games, if they did it'd be very few select stores. But yes, if they did have the LE the extra $20 off coupon would make it much more desirable, especially if you have a $20 off coupon to use with it.

I'd honestly rather pay for SOTN on Saturn than buy this new one. The only one I found on eBay was the same price as this LE and I'm betting will still end up being the better game of the two.

At least include a voucher for SOTN would make it worthwhile. I do love some Castlevania and video game soundtracks so i dunno.

In Canada, the regular LoS is going to cost $69.99 while the limited edition is going to cost $79.99. For a $10 difference, I'll most likely get the LE. Yes, I'll probably only listen to the soundtrack once and I'll probably only flip through the art book quickly once, but personally, I think the cover art alone is worth the difference. The LE's cover blows the regular cover's art away! Still though, a Steelbook would be nice.
No steelbook for that $20 additional for the CE/LE? Weak sauce, Konami.
I swear that I read from somewhere that the LE has special packaging. It didn't say steelbook, but I think it's implied. Well, we'll find out soon enough
^ It just meant the cover is different.
This seems the most likely. Kinda like how Demon Souls deluxe edition came with a different cover sleeve with the game and guide inside.

Nothing wrong with the $79.99 price tag.............but the content and packaging for an LE looks weeeeeeeeeeeeeeak.

It's freaking Castlevania! The games should come in a cool Steel cased coffin with a cup of drinkable holy water or some kind of bad-assery.:bomb:
They need to include a crucifix that you can hold as a weapon.
DAS WUT IM TALKIN BOUT!!

If it really comes out on 10/19, then that's going to be a busy week with New Vegas as well. Glad I planned a vacation from work that week. :D

Hell October is crammed full of games, Medal of Honor is the week before, New Vegas and (maybe) Castlevania are the following week, then Force Unleashed 2 and Fable 3 the week after, but lets not forget September and November are crammed as well! This is gonna be another painful gaming season on my wallet yet again:bouncy:

Yeah, I'll probably get all those too. :D Kinda glad we had this long window without really anything coming out so I could save up. Once Mafia 2 comes out, I'll most likely be getting at least one game per week through November.

Yeah, Kmart will be making some bank on me this fall. I'll be using a $20 off on Mafia 2 next week and from that game on will basically be getting all my games for $40 each this Fall following up each game's extra $20 off coupon, god bless Josh:applause:

$20 for soundtrack and art book? YES, PLEASE!

Seriously, people should quit whining. The soundtrack alone is worth it.
The soundtrack alone is worth it.
And that' statement is based on what exactly? Surely you've listened to the soundtrack to say something like that, no? Also $20 is worth it for just a CD? Are you on crack?

I like this CE. I like game soundtracks and the artwork is nice. If I get this game at launch, I'll get the CE. I'm more concerned about A) the game being good and B) it coming out so close to Fable 3, cuz I know that's gonna monopolize my Fall gaming schedule.

Give me an HD version of SOTN and I would be in. SOTN is still one of my fav games. I couldnt care less about a soundtrack and art book. Of course I also said I wouldnt be buying games until I cleared my backlog (its gonna take me two years at this rate!).

No kidding, a CD costs less than thirty cents to press with art and every single "soundtrack" CD I have ever received in a "collector's edition" has either been a sampler, missing the best tracks or contains stuff I wouldn't have paid for had it been available separately.

As mentioned, it's awesome how little Atlus can give us free artbooks and soundtracks on their $30 DS games.

I look at this $80 set and laugh.
Definitely weak for $20
Yep, I was thinking $10 extra at best. Seems COD set the standard for retarded CE's.
wooo msrp! :whee:
These visibility threads are getting old. . .

I want the soundtrack, but I'm pretty sure Amazon will offer it as an MP3 album for $10, which is better than paying $20 extra + tax at GameStop.
