Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Vanquish, or Dead Rising 2?

CAGiversary!
I'm going to get one, and only one of these games and I can't decide.

That being said, the Vanquish demo was awesome.

yes, vanguish demo was awesome but i would suggest you get dead rising 2 (more replay value and many missions to do),more bang for your buck.Vanguish is going to be a fast pace shooter, so, odds are you'll be done with it before the week is done, better to wait til it drops to like 20-25 bucks. As for Castlevania, the franchise going into 3D hasn't had a good track record. My opinion would be to get DeadRising 2 and purchase the other 2 when their price drops.

i'm a big fan of the original anime / manga but we all know its price is going to drop like a rock....so best to wait ...but i definitely want it.

I've tried countless times to enjoy Koei games but to no avail.
in the off topic forum? Really?
Was thinking the same thing...There's a General Gaming Forum as well. Since this does break the only "rule" of off topic.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about C:LoS, so I might pick that up off Amazon because of the $20 GC. Although, if I had to choose I'd get Vanquish. Hello, Mikami! Haha, its going to be a great game.

Psh!

Honestly, I may sound nit picky here, but it only takes a few minutes of unimpressive footage to keep me from buying a game.

Vanquish Demo -- "Nice Nice, looks sweet. Ok the slide animation is a bit wonky but whatever. Good lord these cutscenes are awful. Sweet melee. Eh..cover shooter....cover shooter....boss with big red weak spot.... I think I'll save my $60"

As for Castlevania, that was something I've been hyped for since the first trailer. I was always skeptical of the combat footage, however. And I very well should of been, because this new footage basically displays a horribly run-of-the-mill action game that I've been playing for the past 5-6 years.

Hack-Hack-Hack-dodge roll-Grab-Hack-Hack-Quick Time Event. It's flat out unimpressive. Even though GoW III is esentially the same thing, at least they squeezed every last bit of potential out of that formula.

cLoS basically looks like a Dante's Inferno, except it will probably have a pretty cool narrative. In the latest developer walkthrough where he plays the part, "Gabriel go collect 4 crystals, I'll wait here" -- I wanted to shoot myself because of how dated an idea this game is. Expected a lot more from something like Konami with Kojima at the helm.

Another example of shitty game design that makes me rethink my interest in a game -- Enslaved. Watch the gameplay of where you're the dude and you have to "distract" the enemies from shooting at the girl. How do you do this? You fucking shout at them. Really. I though it was cool the first time but the fact that they abused this mechanic as some sort of cool gameplay tool was flat out embarassing.

"HEY ILL SHOUT AT THE GUARDS AGAIN BECAUSE THEN THEY WONT BE ABLE TO SEE YOU RUN ACROSS AN ENTIRE fuckING BRIDGE!"

It's the year 2010, how can we still be this stupid? Am I asking for games to be realistic? Of course not -- but when a games breaks the walls of common sense down, I lose practically all immsersion.

It's why running away from guards in Assassin's Creed was so mundane because you knew you could just turn around and kill everyone one by one.

That's my rant, anyways.

I'll say Castlevania. It has a sweet CE, and I'm not a fan of Dead Rising. (I'm not saying DR is bad, I just don't like it). Vanquish seems like it could be hit or miss (I love the multi-language options, though it seems like they re-did the lips to match the English dialog so now the Japanese voices seem weird.) like Dark Void, and you can probably pick it up cheaper in a little while.

I vote Vanquish. If other Mikami/Inaba games are anything to go by, there should be plenty of unlockables and replay value even if you tear through it quickly. DR2 looks like it might have some serious issues, based on Case Zero, so I'd wait on that.

And really? I don't even see how Castlevania is a contender. It's been telegraphing "stay away -- I'm boring as shit" since they announced it.

There are like 20 people using that "Paper Mario banging Peach" as an avatar.
Really? Neat.

Those are three completely different games from completely different genres... and all have the potential to be good. It's pretty much going to depend entirely on which genre fix you're looking for at a given time, and how they actually end up scoring.
