Well, im pretty big on the castlevania series ever since i hit it off with an import copy of Dracula X(SoTN)....

And when the first gba version of Castlevania came out, i rushed out and bought a used copy, and hated it. Everything was too dark to see properly on the old gba screens, the system and level design was average, and the sfx and graphics were at best average. NExt i skipped out on DIssonance not expecting anything better, then months later bought Aria of Sorrow, which blew me away as being the closest thing to Symphony of the Night....it was fun as hell, looked, and played great.

Now im thinking about getting of Harmony of Dissonance, but i have no idea how good this game is, being the second gba game. Can anyone tell me what they thought about it? Need to know if its worth the hassle.

Hopefully on topic, what does everyone think about Circle of the Moon. I really liked SotN as well as all Castlevania games and I always see this one for about $12 used. It looks good, but if I can beat it in a few hours I will be a tad bit upset.

Well worth your $12 IMO. It's pretty tough (the only Castlevania I've played that I haven't defeated Dracula, now that I think of it), so you should get some life out of it. Or maybe I just suck at the game. Who knows...

to be honest, mr. unoriginal, id suggest that you go with HArmony of DIssonanance or Aria of Sorrow. If you have expecatation a la Sotn as i did when i bought circle of the moon, youre in for a big dissapointment. Aria of Sorrow is the closest to SoTN. Go for that.

all 3 castlevania gba games took me ~7 hours, but they were all fun.

circle of the moon is not for wimps. in the begining its kinda tough, untill u level a bit, and the last boss is downright brutal.

even though the gba games are good, if you really want a great castlevania experience, you need to check out dracula x rondo of blood for the turboduo. i may just go one record to say its not only the best castlevania game, but maybe the greatest video game ever made. it has everything you could ask for, great graphics, great soundtrack, great gameplay, some secrets, and much more. not bad for a game made in 1993!

The problem with Dracula X for the Turbo Duo is finding/affording it (it usually goes for +/- $200 - Then you need a system to play it on...

this topic is getting derailed a bit.

ANyways...Does anyone have any info on what the game system of HoD is like?? Its flaws? special features? Thats what i originally asked for.

Thanks

i understand that is what you originally asked for, but if you are a castlevania fan i thought you would appreciate a really good c-vania game. dont be afraid to try new things! btw the 3 gba games play alot like sotn with a few improvements for each one as they go. if you like sotn and are cool with the card collecting system go with the game. hell, you should play every c-vania game ever made anyways!!

hod is more like cotm than aos, basically because u use a whip the whole game, unlike aos.

its much brighter than cotm, and much easier, but not as easy as aos, that game was cake. theres also something really fun about it but i dont want to spoil it for you

Is anyone able to find HoD? I'm havign the hardest time tracking it down.

btw, I loved CotM. It was fairly difficult at first, but once you acquire the right cards (i.e. the summoning card), everything becomes much easier. There's some nice replay value, as each time you beat it, you unlock a new mode of play (Magician, Thief, Hugh, etc.).

im starting to see that game at kmart for 14.99 just like cotm was

yeah, thanks alot guys. It might be worth it to give cotn another try...Just that i was playing it on the old gba at the time, and it was insanely frustrating to play without a good light source. No idea if id be willing to track down a turbo-duo though...Ive heard lots of good things about that game, but i have no idea if id be willing to dish out $250+ for that. guess i should track down hod

and Ikohnforever, just that you know, ive read all the reviews, i just dont trust them. I prefer to hear from other gamers whove played it. whatever

COTM is the only one I have completed so far. It took me like 12 hours or so to finish the game (I spent a lot of time leveling up for Dracula)

I still need to finish Aria

Aria of SOrrow is a good 25 hours plus if you try to get all the souls and endings(and damn are there some neat souls)....THe cool thing is the extra story mode you get afterwards with another character if you complete the game.

Circle of the Moon rocks on a GBA SP, with the lighting you can really see how much the graphics shine. Not to mention the sound is excellent. I'd give it another chance if you have a better lighting solution (the SP or GB Player). I played through it myself 5 times, due to the unlockable modes.

Don't expect another Symphony, as someone said, it does resembled Bloodlines (aka old school Castlevania) more, but I do think that DSS card system is pretty cool. You only use maybe 10 out of the 100 abilities, but it's still pretty cool.

If anyone is interested in Harmony, I can check my local stores as I often see used copies. Altough I believe it is priced at 24.99/27.99 used. But legit ones are somewhat hard to find anyways.

Dracula X on the Duo is good, but not as good as symphony imo. Its not the best thing, but as the original DX is pricey...the bootleg is easy to find on the net. But those who are interested will have to find it for themselves.

User reviews. =0 Pretty good stuff. But $25 is a bit steep. Im sure i saw it for $15 somewhere, i think EB. *Heads out to search*

I have played this game for longer than any other GBA game to date including Final fantasy tactics. You know what made the difference though? My SP. I played the game on the regular gba and couldnt do shit. The first night I bought the sp, I finaly beat dracula. And then I played it from then on.

ok, got my hands on HoD loose for 15, which isnt too bad. Anyone know any good online deals for CoTM? I sold it off pre-SP.

I am a huge castlevania fan and am currently playing I & II on nes. I am a big fan of all the gba games. They all have their own unique differences and I enjoyed all of them. They stay in the collection fa sho'

If anyone can snag me a K-Mart copy of HoD, I'd gladly pay them for it and somthing extra to make it worthwhile. PM me.

yea it has been my favourite game since the times of SFC~~ yea it is good and you should give it a try. btw, get a SP so you won't get the backlight problems with your GBA
