Yup. I think it was determined to be an unused item. I can only think of one game that it was even practical to use (SM64: DS), and even that was iffy in my experience. I could see someone wanting one, but I'm sure you'll always be able to order one from Nintendo. I'm content to not have a chunk of plastic smacking the Lite's casing when I carry it.

is Ebay the only way to get these Lite's right away. I am seriously thinking about importing one now.
 
Well actual importers are starting to trickle units out, but if you're just hoping on now you'll be at the back of what I'm assuming to be a fairly long line.

I've heard good things about NCXSHOP.com, right now they have only the Ice Blue DS Lite for $209.00 + $7.50 for UPS 3 Day Select shipping.

Well, I gotta give those Nintendo engy's props. They must've hit the sweetspot in the DS lite's design. Although they've created tidal waves of ravenous customers hankering for the DS lite.

I think the flood of DS Lite love coming out of Japan has to do with a few big factors.

1) The DS was already wildly popular due to some killer apps the Japanese could not resist
2) For nearly a month prior to the Lite, Japan was drained of its supply of regular DS and one could not be found for love or money in the country.
3) The original DS has some rather glaring design flaws I think, not the least of which were screen brightness/clarity and overall portability. The DS fat is not pocket-sized.

Thus all these factors combined led to a massive surge of consumer glut. Will it be repeated in the states? Not likely. The original DS is not quite as popular and can still be found in most retailers. I think it will sell well, but it won't be the stampeding panicked shortage that Japan is seeing.

i had a chat with a game crazy employee who said that their nintendo rep said that the DS lite will be coming out in the next month or so (probably with the new mario game possibly) i really really hope this is accurate

It's got the same thing going on that some cars do. In certain lighting it looks almost black, in others it looks very blue. The photos give a pretty decent feel for the range of color it could appear to be.
 
In case people didn't know, the enamel blue DS lite is actually pretty close to black. I decided I was bored and decided to keep on eof my DS lites instead of ebaying it. Also they seem to be back in stock in many places so why bother with only around 50 dollars profit.

I'm tempted to spend the $160 I made on ebay the other on getting one from play-asia. They just so damn slick. If only that fucking nintendo would release SOME information on a north american release.

Moving sucks... I had to have my TV on some boxes on the ground for a while until I could find a proper entertainment center for my bedroom. :whistle2:#

Its a bunch of Intec ds lite accessories that are listed as a release date of 5/9/2006. So, its not a concrete release date but it does allow for a little more speculation. Is it possible we're going to see a Saturn-like release of the DS Lite in the U.S.? "So we're announcing that the DS lite is coming out in America, today!"

Hehe I know what you mean, i'm using beanbag chairs from Microsoft instead of a couch until I can find a real couch.

But I look at the bright side, I can walk to work in 2-3 minutes now instead of being stuck on the damn 405 for 1 hour each way.

I can play a flower and make it look bad-ass. That is true machismo.

Seriously though, the ice blue doesn't look girly. If anything, I'd avoid the white so as to not look like an ipod user.
 
amusedtoe, I want to thank you after reading this a few days ago, & listing to Dual Screen Radio's DS lite show & Infendo Radio. i went ahead & order one from Ebay, ( i got a sweet deal, by the way ) I can't wait to get my hands on it. i'm having it fed-x overnite. so hopefully tommarow around this time I'll be playing with it!!!!(the DS Lite, people, get you minds out of the crapper !!! LOL ..just kidding., any way im getting the ice blue one. my choice, i think it looks awesome & I'm 6'4 300pounds, so i don't give a deuce if anyone doesn't like my pretty blue new DS LITE :0)
 
Mine shipped today AND I ordered the pink Hori protective case. I fucking dare anyone on the street to make fun of it. Shit is going to be ill.

Man, i'm having regrets on keeping my DS lite. I knew this was going to happen... I simply don't have time to play any of my handhelds. Hell I still need to beat LCS for the PSP =/... And when i'm home I'd rather play consoles. I used to play sometimes at lunch @ work but now that I live across the street from work..... gah =/

I'm sure one of the CAGers here would buy it from you, if you were to sell it that is.
 
I have a hard time parting with stuff after I sold it. Plus I sold the first DS I bought after I didn't enjoy it so selling another used DS seems silly heh.

I think it was just tempting to keep since it was only around $130 duty free and @ ebay I prob wouldve only gotten around 200. After ebay fees, a profit of 50 dollars didn't seem enough for me to go through the trouble of going to the post office and shippin it. Maybe If I get the Castlevania DS game It'll all change, I loved those on the GBA. But even tho the castlevania DS has been out awhile I don't see any price drops on it...

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is awesome, you should definitely get it. The only thing I disliked about it was probably the soul collecting, it was fine in Aria of Sorrow when you only had to collect 1 soul each, but in DoS, you have to collect like 9 to max out certain souls; which can, get kind of repetitive.

And a new Castlevania DS is coming out in... November, I think.
