cheap ps1 memory cards?

At some TRU's, they have a green tag section with some Intec PS1 memory cards ringing up for $2 or less.

I got a couple of first party ones at Gamecrazy for 1.99 each. They were used but in great shape. FYI, I think the used third party cards are the same price. This was 4 months ago.

I'm usually against buying third party stuff for things like this, but I used a few Intec memory cards for my PS1 and they still work perfectly today. If you can find them they're worth the $1 or 2.

I can't recommend a deal better than any that people already mentioned, but I would like to say this:

Some people don't know it, but you only need 1 PS1 memory card as long as you have a PS2 memory card. Once you use up all 15 save slots you can copy/move them to the PS2 memory card for storage. PS1 saves onlt take up 8kilobytes so a PS2 mem Card (which is 8 megabytes) can hold 1000+ PS1 saves. Thing is when you want to use a save you need to move it back over to the PS1 card. This can also be done with the PS2 Hard Drive.

Some people know this and some don't, so I figured I'd mention it just in case. At just a mere $2ish a pop you may be tempted to buy 10of them, when you'll really only ever need 1 if you don't mind a bit extra work (Then again I'd rather move saves from card-to-card than have a bunch of mem cards.

WHAT THE !!!!!!!

Wow, I never knew this! That's great news! thanks, man.

I saw some brand new, first party PS1 cards for $3 or so at TRU before it closed down. Should have picked one up in case I pick up some legendary PS1 games such as FFVII and Valkyrie Profile on the cheap.

Wow, I never knew this. How do you transfer saves onto PS2 Hard Drive? Do you have to do anything special? Can you transfer from ps1 to HD or do you have to copy from ps1 to ps2 then ps2 to HD?

Just go to the opening PS2 menu and the HDD will show up just like the memory cards, go there and create a folder like "Game Saves" or something. Then just go to your PS1 and PS2 memory cards and go to the save you want to copy, click on copy and the "Game Saves" folder (or whatever you named it) on the HDD will show up and you can copy them there. You don't need anything special as the PS2 recognises it. I back up all my PS1 and PS2 saves to my HDD every so often just in case. If I haven't played a game for a while or am trading one away that I have saves for, I just move the saves to the HDD to save space on my memory cards. Its great, I have lots of games but only need to use 1 PS1 card and 1 PS2 card. Unfortunately you still need the cards though as the HDD doesn't load saves like the Xbox.
