cheap Wii component cable at Play-asia (3rd party)
I've seen Ebay sellers selling component cables from japan or hong kong. Will these work on a NA system?

And are there any third party brands that I should steer clear from, or do they all deliver the same kind of quality?
Even if they are no name component cables you'll see a big difference vs composite. Component > s-video > composite

got mine in today and these tings feel nice and sturdy, thicker than the offical standard cables i swapped out. The colors are wonderful, and the picture is nice and clean without any fuzz

i would fully reccomend these to anyone on the fence

Simply put, I'd trust Play-Asia.com. Their customer service doesn't seem to be available right now, but that's because of the earthquake in Asia and Internet service is interrupted in many areas as I understand it... NOT because they aren't good at what they do.

I've probably placed 8 orders through them. I did have one Xbox 360 game arrive with broken case. I'd chosen "mail pouch" shipping instead of a box, and I've ordered with boxes when possible since. But their products are high quality, and when I wanted to swap the US Gamecube Zelda for JPN PS3 F1, they contacted me within 24 hours of my request letting me know my order was switched. Checking their web site, the order reflected that change as well.

I'm waiting for my component cables as well, but I purposely ordered them with the cheapest shipping... since the regular "composite" cable is fine for now. I haven't started Zelda yet anyway. The one "negative" is my own fault. Didn't know when the PS3 Bluetooth remotes were coming out here, so I ordered an import one. Then with NO notice EB had a few of them, and I bought one. Contacted Play-Asia to cancel that order, since it was waiting for F1... but because of the quake they had no internet and shipped anyway. I'll just need a buyer once it arrives... not the end of the world.

Anyway, I'd really recommend Play Asia. And at $13 shipped, despite a week or so to get them, how can you go wrong?
Is a sale going on? They retail for $59.99 at Circuit City. Great deal but hopefully it's not YMMV.
As far as I know, they aren't on sale.

I'm finally in on these (was worried that they would be just like other 3rd party cables I've had). Hopefully they are restocking soon.

they arrived fairly quickly i suppose. they were in stock 1 day before the estimate time but took 11 days total to arrive here in los angeles. the picture is brighter on progressive and i can see more jagged edges so i cant really say if it is better. i havent calibrated my tv even tho i have calibration dvd...

are you guys getting good quality on zelda? a couple of posts here have complained about "jagged lines" in the game... is that a function of the game itself or the cable?

i have a 42" plasma

It's the game. You will see this even with Nintendo's official cables.

Still waiting on mine too. Mine say they shipped on the 22nd. Getting ancy cause I actually got a Wii today.... my 50" plasma is unhappy with the amount of flicker ya get over composite - yuck!

Anybody else who ordered a while ago still not get theirs? I am starting to wonder if they got lost in the mail or something, and am willing to drop the 20$ instead of waiting a month for them to confirm. Just wanna check with you guys, cause if other people who ordered around the 22nd are still waiting as well, I will hold off till next week.

I ordered mine the 26th and they arrived today,
I have the nintendo gamecube component (ngc) cables. These play-asia ones are a thicker cable, tho shorter than the ngc cable.
I did a quick comparison to see how f-zero ran on the cube vs the wii with composite and the wii with component. f-zero looked just as nice on the cube as it did on the wii with component and both looked better than the wii composite.
And of course, the wii with component looked better than the wii with composite (you see the difference less when upgrading the cable, but more when going back to the composite)
I was expecting to be happy with the play-asia cables and I am. There are no markings of any kind for make or manufacturer, wether more expensive cables provide a better picture, I don't know but I'm inclined to think any difference would be slight.
Another note, while web browsing, text is much sharper to read in 480p.

I just got mine yesterday and there is a significant improvement for certain games, but not others. For instance, Rayman looks exactly the same, as it doesn't seem to output into 480p (even though the manual says it does).

I finally ordered the play asia cables for 9 bucks and they work perfectly.

I was thinking that Nintendo Component Cables were going to show up in stores like I read before launch even though EB/Gamestop said they weren't due till jan. I also figured there would be some cheap ones available at retail from madcats or some other 3rd party. Boy was I wrong! The mad cats ones, if you cand FIND them are 50$!! What a ripoff!

Well I finally faced reality and ordered these and a week and a half later they finally arrived. Not a big difference but I was holding off playing Zelda thinking the difference was going to blow me away or get rid of some of the jaggies. They don't make a huge difference but it is nice to have the final peice of my Wii setup!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I was all ready to get nintendo component cables from BB with my ggc in hand. Finally ordered this set and it shipped today, I'm happy.

From what I've heard the manual is wrong and Rayman only does 480i.
