can anyone suggest a pet? not some wimpy thing like a hamster, although they are cute and cudly, anyone got a boa? like a snake? i want one that isnt to dangerous, but looks scary.. i always liked snakes. but can anyone suggest a dog also? like a toy dog that never grows big, stays small? besides a chiuaua, a mix would be ok.

pets i really are a snake, and a small dog.

Reptiles are high maintenance animals. I wouldn't suggest getting a snake without doing a lot of research first.

ok forget about the wimpy thing, i want something wimpy, but not anything like a rodent, i want a ferret but they are illegal in CA. so dogs and snakes are what im looking for

pomeranian's are vicious dogs to almost anyone but their master. We had one when I was a kid and it would often attack/growl at anyone who got near my mom, even my siblings an I.

yea, i wanted to get a pomeranian, but it was to yappy.. they are cool if you trim there fur to make it short.. those are cool.

i wanted a chiuaua/lab mix, like that mr.burns avatar dood, forgot him name, but his little dog owns..

If you get a boa constrictor and a small dog, you'll probably just have a boa before to long...

Our Pomeranian represented the opposite extreme. He always greeted everyone with furious licking & gyrations of joy. Even strangers. While Poms ideally exhibit a "fox-like face," I wouldn't recommend this breed for someone looking for a dangerous-looking pet. Poms aren't intimidating. They are cute and cuddly. (I miss my puppy)

[edit: and yes, they are prone to yappiness. It is common for them to run around in circles barking frantically when people leave the house. On the other hand, they are soft puffballs & excellent for hugging. It's a trade-off.]

His cage has dropped down in price to $9.99 today...

And he's been known to average a P.O. price of just 2.99.

I'd say... you can't get a better Cheap Ass pet than that....

nah, they will get big.. my german shep is 15, as old as me.. damn hes a old slugger 15x7, do the math for dog years.. i love my dog, but hes getting to lazy.. i think hes old.. he dont run anymore, and exercise.. all he does is eat and sleep and bark sometimes.. thats why i want a new dog, not to replace him.. but to fill a spot.. :D they can be friends.
My Uncle Breeds Golden Retrievers in the bay area. $500 a pop with papers.
Get a small golden. Got mine for $400 papers and all. get a female from a breader.

Get some pet sharks. I have two in my fish tank, and they look bad ass. The kind I have are called rainbow sharks and only get about 6 inches long.

Get a Gecko, they are a little more animated than a snake, are extremely easy to take care of, and look pretty cool. They typically eat crickets, and worms. I suggest a Tokay. They can get to be about 9 inches long and they can eat pinkie mice as well.
That or a Pac-Man Frog. They are lazy things, but look really cool, they are basically all mouth and stomach. They can eat full grown mice. I've owned both these types of pets, and both are pretty entertaining to have around.

I had one of those, but my damn Gourami nipped it to death. That fish is a bastard, he's killed 4 fish so far.

The rainbow shark, Epalzeorhynchus (Labeo) frenatus is not a real shark - it is a type of algae-eating minnow (a cyprinid) that superficially resembles a shark (and is often confused with the red-finned shark - another non-shark).

use use to have a firebelly newt. they are cool untill.. RIP blacky. no watery stuff, i already have fish.. and it gets stinky..
I had a dogfish. He was awesome! He would chill out and jump out of the water and other stuff. He started refusing to eat and went the way of the dodo. Tears tears.
A flamehawk is pretty damn cool. They are one of the most lazy fish ever. They swim for a few seconds and then just sit on rocks for a long time. We had one for a long time. His name was Homey.

This isn't him, just a random pic.

I am thinking about getting a chameleon now, though. This guy in San Antonio is selling them for $30 a pop.

This one's a baby.

This has reminded me of a product I toyed with some time back: has anyone here ever owned an ecosphere? I first saw them advertised in issues of the Smithsonian years ago

http://www.eco-sphere.com/home.htm

Since then, I've seen them appear in shopping malls (and then vanish, like the flash-in-the-pan products they are to the general public) as well. I resisted getting one, largely because I didn't have anywhere I could place one where I could be assured of constant temperature & lighting. For those too lazy to follow the link, ecospheres are essentially paperweights with miniature, self-sustaining ecosystems inside (shrimp, algae, & sand/silt beds with resident micro-organisms.) While some might not consider the shrimp real pets, these do have the obvious advantages of (almost) zero maintenance: no feeding or cleaning. Anyhow. Anyone have one? [sorry if this detracts from your original intent, OP] ...and if so, how troublesome were the environmental concerns I mentioned? If at all?

y don't u buy a jack russell, if u h8 it cus it yaps, then u can throw it out the window

WTF?

Anyways, a Jack Russell is a pretty kick ass dog. Unlike other small dogs, you can beat the crap out them like you would a big dog, I mean wrestle and be rough with, and they come back for more. They're reallly hyper, though, and aren't afraid to hump your leg.

Have you thought about a ferret? They smell like shit if you don't clean them. They're pretty kick ass.

I had a jack russell for 9 years til we gave it away 6 months ago. She was very hyper and distructive at times. When she saw that ground hog she would be focus on that thing to the point she went after it (into its hole) and I had to dig her out, she was pissed and bit my finger really hard.....still have the scar :|

We tried to pair her up so she could have puppies but she always intimidated the other male dogs.

Ducks, $5 each. I feed them leftover food, had them for about 7 months now (picture is from when they were about 2 days old)
