i'll try to get a list going of who will be where. just let me know which group you'll be in most of the time with a pm(as to not crowd up this thread)

How are we going to train? Is there a plan? Or are we just going to play some custom stuff? Just wondering because my past experience in "training" has even involved very wacky and fun custom games, but not real training though...

I agree that we need some training. I'd like to practice matchmaking/clan game types with strategies and team tactics for each.

On the subject of custom games, I came up with a few more last night. They haven't been tested, but I'm sure they could be fun. I'll start a new thread for custom gametypes and post it there.

This happened to us last week. It bugged me, but I think we should try it out in practice until we can pull it off effectively:

Coag. The map that most people don't like, and the map that seems to pop up on matchmaking the most. The latter is why I think we should concentrate on this map for practice first. Specifically, throwing the flag from the 2nd level of the base to a team mate on the roof, so he can hit the teleporter. About a week ago, an opposing team pulled it off and had those of us left on D saying wtf just happened. I would think it would take about 3-4 to pull it off. #One to toss some nades into the flag room and cause a general distraction, #Two to follow right behind one to grab the flag and throw it up to #Three who will go through the portal, and #4 (hopefully w/ the Hog) waiting at the teleporter for #3 and escort him to base for the score.

As far as assault (and really any objective game for that matter), I was thinking something like this. First off, if you get rockets and keep them will another launcher spawn in? Whoever spawns closest to the ghost rush for rockets. Whoever spawns closest to sniper rifle go through the teleporter (w/sniper rifle) to support the effort to get rockets. Once rockets are gotten, drive the ghost back to base. The point is to take rockets and not give them back...use them for defense. This would help us steal the vehicles without worry of rockets. After getting rockets, maybe trying to steal their sniper rifle since snipers are pretty crucial on such a big map. Anyways something like that.

70% of the time it seems each side pushes the whole match without scoring. The fact that it is so hard to score on Coag makes it a crappy map, but you are forced to play it in clan matches and matchmaking games more often than not. We might as well practice on it to be effective.

In the words of Nature Boy Ric Flair, "Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going. Wooooo!"...until the new content is available.

i find the best thing to do on coag assault is to let them bring the bomb first. if you have a tight initial defense (though one person should still go for rockets), you'll be able to lock them down quickly, have them bring some nice weapons/vehicles to you, then make a strong offensive push while they're spawning in a very scattered manner. just my two cents.

Coag neutral bomb is actually way easier to win, just not as fun. First off you need someone to rush on the ghost to the rockets. Don't be a hero...just get them back to the base. At the same time you need a banshee to be covering the ghost so they should be rushing at the same time. Once the rockets are back let them bring the bomb to you. After you stop the inital push, with a superior defense because of the rockets, they won't have good weapons or vechiles because they will be at your base or you are using them. Then when you guys push the rocket man can go to the middle and restock on 4 more rockets. With that many rockets it can be very easy to clear out a base. Make sure the rocket guy is a clear/level headed person that won't be quick to blow themselves up because they get trigger happy. ( A perfect example of people to give the rockets to in CAGtacular case: rock, d4rk, crymson, zewone)

Another strategy involves having 2 great snipers with both rifles. One person hides in the bottom of the opponents base so they spawn outside which leaves them as target practice for the snipers so they can't get back in their own base. Then everyone besides the snipers and the hider kill whoever is left in the base so they too become target practice. (A perfect example of snipers and a hider for CAGtacular: Ugamer and Kado sniping Murc hiding)

Practice types:

1) Weapons practice - use only one weapon to get better at it, such as the battle rifle, sniper rifle, brute shot, etc.
2) Map practice - practice learning a map, locations of routes, weapons and the like, on multiple game types
3) Tactics practice - practice a type of tactic or action, such as the flag toss on Coag

At least my $0.02 on the areas we should consider to be practice.

I love neutral bomb on Coag! So long as the snipers can be recovered you've got 70% of the match won. By having two snipers covering spawn points, the number of people remaining in the base dwindles in minutes. Whenever the shit needs to hit the fan the bomb carrier and an escort may go in, hopefully to take out the one remaining man, and plant the bomb. The bomb carrier should know to keep a good weapon combo to use once in the bomb room. Don't forget that it's very easy to drop the bomb and help kill the lone gunman remaining. The snipers should give at least a ten second cover and there is little less than a miracle that can save the other team. On the flipside, if this is being done to you, dont ever leave the base.
OP has been updated, just missing 1 clan member, b/c not sure of his CAG name or his status with us.
I'm guessing that you mean "A mic is a must" in the OP?

K this might be a stupid question, but I'm curious. If Girion and I are playing on the same Xbox but using our respective XBL accounts, can we each have a mic or does it only support one?

You can both have a mic as long as you both are using different gamertags like you said.
Links in the OP are broken.
thanks for the heads up. that sucks whenever i edit something the links get messed up. i don't really have the time to go back through those and relink them, so just pretend the name is supposed to be offset in blue for CAG reference.

i am not too sure that that is true. i had a friend use another name on my box and we both couldn't use mics.

I have done this on my own Xbox, a number of times, and also at my cousings house when I stayed there for a week and we played Halo 2 everyday with both of our own mics.

weird, cuz i tried with no avail with my main and my backup names and it wouldn't let my friend use a headset. idk why it wouldn't work, but no biggie

I haven't been able to use two headsets when I play w/ my wife either... if someone knows how, please post it. Also, how could you use your gamertag when playing at a friend's house? Is that possible?

Last, is anyone making it to tonight's training?

I may play Halo 2 for a while, but since I went to tuesday's practice, I may play some Street Fighter Anniversary...

If you transfer the account using a memory card, you can have the account on another xbox. It just can't be used on both systems at the same time for obvious reasons. So I have my GT and his GT on my xbox so we can play in each other's dorm rooms. I guess that's what you meant.

If you're using one Live account and she's your guest, I think you need a y-splitter cable. Plug this splitter cable into your controller and then both of you plug your headsets into the splitter.

Thanks for the info guys, but it seems like too much hassle... we'll stick playing like that. I don't even have a memory card, so the guest will keep working for us.

On a side note, I did not see many ppl on the weekend practice or matchmaking night... maybe the week one will work better. It was fun anyways, but we could not get a good game going last night. I don't think we won more than two games... Oh well, we need to keep practicing.

You guys are trying to make this more difficult than neccesary. All you need it two Live accounts and two headsets. Thats it.

lets try to keep this thread for rules and other related topics to the clanlist. try to keep this kind of stuff in the recent posts, in the general thread, i don't want to clutter this thread.

Craven- My Gamertag is MattYoung, no space. I don't mean to be nitpicky, but that's important if someone wants to send me a friend request, however unlikely that may be.

I didn't know until after I created my GT that I could include a space. I wish I could change it.

Are you guys even fucking with clan matches since stats are soon to be reset? I wanted to know what was going on tonight since I'm a Peon and if my services are not needed, I'll be watching the rest of the Bulls game.

Also, to clarify- If I show up on Tuesdays at practice, I don't have to be there Saturday? I'm not tring to duck out. I need all the practice I can get. It's just a lot easier to make it on a Tuesday than a Saturday. However, if my friends get evicted like they think they will and there are no more parties, I may just be online every night. :whistle2:/

tuesday=no saturday, and as for clan matche, tonight is clan match/matchmaking. but since the stats are to reset soon, we are just doing custom stuff tonight

Even more so a reason to say fuck matchmaking? Why not try it out without the worry of levels? You'll get better playing against people who you haven't before. You may also try new strategies in matchmaking that may hurt now, but help later...My two cents.

yeah, thats what we've been trying to do, but this week we had a record number of people actually show up for practice. it was actually a worthwile week, but on any given week, we would've just done matchmaking. so this weekend may just be matchmaking. but it was a novel idea ryan.

I completely agree with Ryan. Craven, maybe next week or this weekend we can break the parties and do clan matches. I would rather the clan gets a good feeling of the level of gameplay on clan matches when the results don't really count.
Also, if we were there tuesday and wednesday, could we play clan matches this Sunday?
Last question: Since the levels are being reset in a couple of weeks, could spontaneous clan matches happen throughout the week?

If I were you guys, I'd do as much matchmaking as you can cram in before monday with some mixed groups to see who works best together and so you guys know eachother's playing style and such.

if you are there during the week, you can show up on sunday. as in the people that show up both days

and spontaneous, as long as people don't think that they can do it whenever they want once the ranks reset, is fine with me.

Thanks Craven! We should try and get as many matches as possible to see how we fare as a group...
and not a peon?
its a process that'll take a little bit of time. once we feel you've meet the standard, you will be promoted to member. its just going to take some time and a vote by the staff.

I see

and then be demoted

Hopefully, this is the proper place to post. If it isn't, I apologize.

So, if I were to be in the clan, I would only play on practice nights (Tuesday), since I would be a peon. Correct? Then, when I am deemed a member, I would play on both nights. Correct?

Also, would I have to sign up for Bungie.net? Are there certain colors that our clan wears? Certain things that I must do before joining in online play? Anything else I should know that hasn't been posted in this topic?

I'm aware that I sound like a newbie, and I apologize for that. Just want to make sure that I am following the rules. This clan thing sounds pretty cool. I haven't played Halo 2 online because of all the horror stories about asshats and such ruining other people's fun, so getting to play online in a group of friends is very appealing to me.

Thanks. :)

we dont have clan colors or symbols...just customize your character to your liking :) and just try to play on the practice nights in addition to whenever people from the clan are playing, i guess :)

Also, you and any other peons are more than welcome to be around on Wednesdays as well. Its just a matter of whether you'll be doing skirmish/slayer/preview(for those who paid for the premium maps) or minor clan matches.
