Circuit City 60gb ps3 w/ "free" wireless controller
You guys, stop or at the very least take this elsewhere. This is the "Circuit City 60gb ps3 w/ "free" wireless controller" thread.
I tried that. See post 16.

Honestly, I can't recommend anyone get a PS3. Sony has said that they're dropping the price soon, they're just trying to figure out how much to drop it. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they drop it $100 at E3.

You have a 30 day price protection anyway, how can you not recommend a PS3? Top notch Blu-Ray player/DVD player and play games to boot. Think of a PS3 as a Blu-Ray player and not a gaming console and its a steal
My PS3 has already lasted longer than my 2 different 360s. Plus, Ratchet & Clank, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Folklore, and a new Wipeout HD are reasons enough - not to mention MGS4 and (hopefully) FFXIII in 2008.
You're right, these are all good reasons to buy the console.

In 2009.

It'll drop $100 but it might not have the Emotion Engine in it. If you don't mind playing only certain PS2 titles, wait for the price drop.

No they haven't said that (they've sort of implied it though, or acknowledged it's a barrier at any rate). It wouldn't surprise me if they did at some point this year though. And as someone mentioned, it probably won't have the Emotion Engine in it anymore (although even without it their backwards compatibility is better than Microsoft's, despite only being on the market half a year).

Regarding the price, for me I wouldn't mind seeing pack ins or the ability to select free stuff with it instead of a price drop. $500 was really pushing it, and $600 is just too much.

But throw in a game or two, and maybe a couple of movies, and I think it would be worth $600.

Heck, they could throw in two first party titles like Resistance and Motorstorm, give you a choice of a Blu Ray movie, and I think I'd bite for $600.

I also agree about the reliability thing. I haven't heard any widespread Playstation 3 issues, and every single one of my friends with a 360 is on at least third second (often third or fourth). I'm on my third, but I'd probably be on my fourth or fifth except that I haven't really played it in 8+ months. (It gave occasional red rings of death back when I was last playing it).

At any rate, I'd rather have a $500 model than a $600 model with two controllers, since I'd only rarely use the second pad.

This offers DEAD as of Yesterday.

Question tho since Speedy1961 posted that next week they will have a free wireless controller with purchase of hte ps3. and i bought a ps3 this morning. will Circuit City let me price match it next week and give me the controller?

i was thinking most likely because its just like a price match.

Its a good deal with the extra controller and bluray movies. I'm holding off until after the E3 stuff. It would be my luck to bring it home and then Sony announces a rumble version bundle or something.
