CAGiversary!
Feedback

After much anticipation I present...the CC 50% off sale! Let me preface the list with a few comments. This is 50% off the regular price--49.99 will be 24.99, 29.99 will be 14.99 and so on. The price that shows when the game is scanned will be the 50% off price. Essentially, the included games should range in price from $4.99-$24.99. Each individual title's price was not on the list and I'm not about to scan every game to find out. :)
Second, I was not able to confirm this directly since the price changes will be downloaded over Saturday night; however, this list is printed directly from CC internal website. I have no reason to believe any of these titles are wrong. This does not prevent CC corporate from changing these prices or titles at any point during the week. OK, I'm sure everyone is sick of me covering my back so let's have some fun...

EDIT: This sale is actually UP TO 50% off. The 50% is not guaranteed. Some will be 50%, some won't. I'll list prices for games as they come in. I apologize for getting anyone too excited.

EDIT: I've changed the format slightly. I'm listing all games alphabetically w/console listed after when necessary. I just don't have time to type multiple titles multiple times. You understand, right?

EDIT 2/6 3:35P EST: Well, it seems there has been a lot of hype and not much substance so far. This list is legit as the scans on page 9 will show; however, CC corporate is not known for downloading prices on time. There may be more price drops Tuesday morning since, if not all prices were downloaded correctly, corporate won't realize it until Monday then download them Monday night. There is also speculation that the sale will increased as late as 2/20-21 for the President's Day sale. Unfortunately, I'm unable to find out anything else until Monday at the earliest. I am going to go ahead and post prices that are listed on the thread by fellow CAGs. I can't confirm these so I'm counting on other CAGs for accuracy. Essentially, lower your expectations some but don't give up yet.

Thank you very much to twiztidjester for answering the many questions that came in while I was posting this topic. I appreciate your offer to help w/the list. I just wish I would have noticed it before. :(

Also to demonmanTNA for providing a scan of the list since I'm scannerless. X-Division rules! TNA on PPV Sunday, 2/13!

There are different value classifications for the generic stamped games. It looks like pretty much all of the value groups are included in the sale. These might not make a lot of sense (even if you work at CC) but check them anyway.
So are there any deals today?
I went out this morning. Nothing...

I was looking for the GBA games listed... they have really cut down the GBA titles. They didn't have 90% of these in the store anymore... I did find the Spongebob and it was only $5 off.

Relax, he obviously hit a YMMV moment. Even if he posts a list, you're not going to get them for those prices.

I don't think it's BS. At first look your like 'wow' check that list out. But, when you look a bit closer you realize that these are mostly older games and that most stores no longer have these in stock (the $5 sale took care of that).

In addition, the sale said 'up to 50%' off. So, some games were only $5 off.

well if it was a corporate list as he claimes, it might give the rest of us an idea of what to expect when/if the deal goes down. i'm just skeptical that there was a "list" printed by a manager. i just think his post warrants a little more detail for those of us trying to validate/dismiss this deal.

The list the managers have is the list that was posted here... someone scanned it and posted it.

There is a list. I saw it yesterday. The sign on the crap bin even said "Please ask Sales Associate for a list of games" (in regards to the up to 50%). The problem is that yes, these games are clearanced (SVC Chaos for $30 or Onimusha 3 for $13), but they were not marked down further by the sale in the ad. Which is what I thought would happen.

I to CC Sunday and I went back today they didnt even know what was on sale, so a manager came and explained that they didnt have the update of what was on sale, I put a bunch of games on hold, and got them to call when it comes in.

Here on the West Coast, I'll check my local Circuit City to see if the prices are updated this morning, which they were not yesterday.

I'll try to ask a manager for a list of the games on sale, but getting adequate customer service at my CC is like pulling teeth, yesterday I had to let the customer service person know there was a red dot sale on, she had to look at the ad before she would even help me, then said that the ad only applied to the games pictured, never mind that the text says "On Select Games" and not "On Pictured Games."

I called my CC, and was given a matter-of-fact "no" when I asked if there was a game sale. Just to be sure, I had her look up the price on Mortal kombat Deception, and it was $40, which I guess is $10 off the regular price, unless the game's dropped already.

actually, the ps2 and xbox version (non-kollector's edition) have dropped to $40 at a lot of places already... like amazon, best buy, and ebgames.

Ackbar, who is that in your sig?
I dunno. Just some model I guess.

Damn, I should have said it's my ex...
Ya well who ever she is, her ass is hypnotic.

wow... i didn't know that i'd have defend myself so much... ok, here goes.

the list that the manager printed for me was the same list that was posted by demomanTNA back toward the beginning of this thread. the website where he found this list was ccity.com, but it's only accessible from the CC intranet. on this website, underneath the link to the list, was an "UPDATE" listed in red, where it mentioned the computer error, and that the prices would take effect starting 2/7 (today).

why did some stuff change already? has it really taken effect yet? if not, why? i don't have all the answers... i don't work there. i'm just posting my experience. hopefully it'll help someone figure out what's going on and get some cheap games.

yes, i obviously hit a YMMV moment... i wouldn't expect all the CC managers to be taking 50% off any listed game. hell, i probably couldn't even get the same deal at the same store again. (which, for those keeping track, was the lewisville, tx store.) but if others run into problems this week, it's certainly worth your time to try. my advice: be nice, act dumb, and only buy a little bit. managers won't deal with pushy people, they're more likely to help if they honestly think it's their fault, and also more likely to help if you're not cleaning them out of all their games.

now... here's what i scored. again, not much, but i'm just happy to have gotten anything out of this deal.

Every time she does the bump I think her skirt is gonna rise a little higher.

Well, the deal worked for me yesterday, and I'm going back today to try and grab some more stuff now that I have a little bit more cash. I'm going in with low expectations though because it's probably going to be a new set of employees.

I am tired of CC not having what it's ads represent as being on sale. Upon entering the door, I was greeted by a sign that stated the Best of Friends DVD in the as only has 5 episodes not 15 as the as states, we're sorry for any inconvenience. Yeah I just drove 30 minutes to get here, no problem whatsoever. I then go to the games and nothing has a red dot/tag. NOTHING. I was told by the third person I asked that the only ones on sale are Backyard Wrestling 2, Hitman 2, F-Zero, 1080, and KOTOR 2. I sent the following message to CC corporate and I encourage other CAGs to do likewise. Contact your BBB.
In the past I have enjoyed finding bargains in your store, however, recent trips to Circuit City have left me disgusted. My problem is with the Columbus, Indiana store in particular. The problem began with the Black Friday sales add last November. The inside of the front cover pictured two Hot Wheels radio controlled trucks that were $25 minus $25 mail-in rebate. I made the trip to Columbus especially to get one of those trucks only to find that the store has NEVER stocked those vehicles. My disgust was renewed today when I drove to Columbus again for the "Red Dot Sale". I was interested in video games. After checking the entire games section, I found that no games had red dots on or near them even though the ad specifically states "over 50 titles to choose from". I checked with three people and the third person, Josh Lashley, informed me that the sale was only for the games pictured in the ad and that the "50 titles" meant that the store stocked more than 50 different games. Your ad appears to be a blatant lie and a come on to get people in the door. I have wasted over $15 in gas on these two trips, not to mention the degree of disgust I have accumulated. This problem needs to be made right at once and I feel that I deserve some form of reimbursement at once. If I don't get satisfaction from this problem, I will contact the Better Business Bureau and report Circuit City for false advertising.

I have feeling this one is $75 or less. I never actually seen it in stock at a CC though.
I can't remember if it was Media Play or CC who used to have a stack of these. Oh well, I have no money now anyhow...

I believe that was BB, about the devil customers.

But anyways, who freakin cares dude? It's not like they went out and said 'Ok, everytime this guy comes in the store I want you guys to pull all the sales from the floor. I just don't really like him.'

Corperate CC isn't going to give a rats ass about your letter. And threatning to take them to the BBB is a joke. I've had customers tell me that at my work. We all laughed pretty good at it in the break room.

If you search the online ad for the deal and click on more information about the Red Dot sale, you get an error page.

This deal just seems so damn strange.

Well,

I just checked at my local CC.

Ninja Gaiden $49.99
Red Dead Revolver PS2, & Xbox $19.99
Pitfall GC $14.99
Tales of Symphonia $49.99

NO Sale

The employee said they did get red dot tagging info but they dont have room to display it or install the red tags.

I then asked two seperate employees how to tell what games were on sale... They both just said the didnt know and shrugged their shoulders.

FYI

Media Play blew this out a while back @ $99 each, new. I picked mine up from GS new @ $149, including the shipping.

I was able to pickup

Final Fantasy XI 37.49
Robotech: Invasion 19.99

Might return Robotech and wait for it to drop to 5-10 still deciding, and I didn't relize you had to have a Network adapter to use this HD but makes sense but I can wait. Anyone know if it is possible to swap out this HD and put a larger one instead now that I have the right mounting brackets?

Just checked my Circuit City:

Tales of Symphonia -- $49.99
Baiten Kaitos -- $49.99
Time Crisis: Crisis Zone -- $59.99
Zelda: Four Swords -- $49.99
Hot Shots Golf: Fore -- $39.99

I don't think there was really a sale other than these games:

Siren
Transformers
Primal
Rogue Ops -- All systems
Onimusha 3
Onimusha: Blade Warriors
Taiko: Drum Master
Thief
and the old sports games from 2003 - 2004

This really sucks I was hoping for some good deals but my trip was worthless. Didn't end up getting anything.

You can put any IDE HD right now in your PS2 without the mounting brackets. Make sure you get a HD Loader or Advance if you want to do anything with a HDD not made for the PS2.

Only the official sony 40 gb HD can be used with games that support the harddrive.

Went to CC yesterday and they did have a list of games up that were on sale for 50% off but the only two on the list I saw that I thought were a steal were Final Fantasy XI and Thief for Xbox. I already have them both so I didnt get either. I did get Zelda 2 Links Awakening for $12, but that was an ad listing.

I put alot of games on hold, and they will call me as soon as a confirmed list comes in, that way I wont worry about them running out of stock when they get there act together, and I wont keep making trips to Circuit City.

Picked up Spider Man 2 for GC $22.75. Only 25% is it worth keeping? I was thinking about holding on to it until a bigger discount comes down and then price matching it.

I think SM2 is a great game and that $23 is a pretty good price. It'll be $20 used in a few months, but may not fall to $20 retail for quite awhile.

Just came back from my CC and looked around to see what exactly were Red Dot games. What I remembered:

GBA
Some GBA Vidoes
Yu Yu Hakusho: Tournmanent Tactics 20.99
F-Zero GP 14.99
Sword of Mana 20.99
Hamtaro 20.99 (I think)
Polar Express 9.99

XBX
Backyard Wrestling
Bloodrayne 2 34.99
Shadow Ops: Red Mercenaries
Legacy of Kain: Defiance
NHL 2005
Vietcong

PS2
Transformers 20.99
Robotech Invasion
Showdown: Legends of Wrestling
Taiko
Polar Express
FFXI
Mark of Kri

GC
XIII
Polar Express
1080 Avalanche

Some other sports games and stuff I really dont remember. Should also be noted that the signs for the Red Dot games expired 2/19 or somewhere around that date, so you've still got another week for more stuff to come down, if it does.

how much was mark of kri?
Hasn't it been $5 for a while now?
i thought so too, but when i checked last at my CC it was $23.99...

Ditto here.

If I were to buy the final fantasy XI for $37 than I would have to buy the network adapter too. It cost like $35 at cc. I would to cough up $72+tax. hmmm
