Just to be Fair and Balanced, here's the TBK report of the match.
Game One, CAG choice: Team Snipers on Headlong
Set to 100 kills with CAG choosing orange as their team color. Coincidentally, orange blends in nicely in some of the dirt areas.... The game started out strong, with our snipers drawing first blood. CAG stuck very closely together while TBK split up into several groups. Our communication was excellent as we called out their team massing in certain location, letting our snipers home in and take them out. TBK hit 50 first while CAG was a close 10 kills behind. Unfortunately lag reared it's ugly head and red barred our best snipers. Even more unfortunately CAG stayed green. Slowly CAG caught up in kills while our snipers were crippled with lag.
Final Score : CAG 100, TBK 97 CAG is up 1, but we believe we would have won if there were no lag.
Game Two, TBK choice: Mad Hamberger on Foundation
Crazy hill gametype, 1 minute between moves and 1 minute time to win. We added a 15 minute total game time to make sure it wouldn't go on forever. As expected, CAG was caught off guard at first. They complained and called it the worst game type ever, lucky for them we didn't chose some of our other wacky games...... Our teamwork and strategy seemed to work as we slowly racked up the time. For a few moments lag hit us again sending a nearly all of us to the yellow. We didn't get to 1 minute, but by looking at the times, TBK had several near or over the 1 minutes mark while CAG only had 2 at 30 seconds.
Final Score: TBK = 6:46, CAG = 2:59 It's 1 to 1 now (if can even count the first game), so it's down to the tie breaker round of standard matchmaking gametypes.
Game Three: 1 flag on headlong, standard matchmaking rules
For some reason Tomcat dropped and Eggy took his spot. TBK started on defense first. Everything went smoothly with everyone in the green. TBK held back CAG, having them grab the only within the last 10 seconds. CAG managed to get the flag down the tower, and sent several warthogs to pick it up. Fortunately TBK stopped the assault and the round ended.
TBK's time to shine! The round started great, with TBK getting the flag out side almost immediately. Then lag hit, and it hit hard. Everyone was sent to red, with several sent to the blue screen. CAG started dropping out and we called for Eggy to end the game completely. That's 3 straight games that lag had affected one team or the other and everyone was getting tired of it. We agreed to call it a night and said goodbye.
Final Score: did not finish.
I personally feel that we could have beaten the CAG team. Our sniper game had TBK in the constant lead, at some points almost 20 kills ahead. We clearly beat them on Mad Hamberger. The lag was only slightly bad and it did not last long. The last Headlong game showed that we could hold back their offense, and we do quite well on offense. I wouldn't mind playing them again, but the lag really killed this match.
So I guess the consistent theme is that everyone was seeing lag. It just seemed to hop around randomly, crippling anyone in its path.
