Everyone knows that KB Toys has been having a lot of trouble lately...the department stores have basically been shutting them and Toys R Us down. Well, it turns out that corporate's closing a lot of stores. I just called up my local KB Toys to ask about their Black Friday B1G1 deal, and they said that since they were closing(they gave an estimate date of 1/31/08), they would not honor those promotions.

However, they have marked down all of their items in the stores- including video games- from 10% to 30%. Right now, video games are at 10% off, at least at my local store. The person whoo answered the phone said that she anticipates further price drops.

Many, many stores are closing. Look out for further drops, or, if you just would like 10% off on a game, then I guess it's your place. I think they mostly sell GBA and DS games.

Use the link above to find out which stores in your state are closing. The rest will have the Black Friday(B1G1 free on all games) deal. KB Toys also has a promotion on Black Friday that gives a $10 gift card for every $50 spent at all locations, closing or not(the only one).

Didn't this happen a few years ago!??!? Now they are closing MORE stores?

KB toys has been a so so store at my mall. A few years back they have been nothing but a mess. You walk in and the place looked like some kids trashed the place with toys all over the place. Up until 2 years ago they actually got there act together and cleaned up the place. They tend to have a lot of customers when I go, but I guess not as good as TRU. They also got rid of selling video games years ago. :(

edit: aww my local fairoaks mall, va store is closing. Guess those freaks over a hot topic next door where scaring all the kids away :(

my KB Toys still sells video games(mostly DS Titles if I recall) but I just checked the store locator and my local store is indeed closing. I hope the games drop more than 30%...

I really don't like KB Toys either, but I remember their last clearance, which was of all non-handheld games. I picked up Wind Waker for $10 new, which wasn't bad.

But then again, I hated CompUSA, too, but I picked up some awesome stuff at their closing store clearance. Expect this to become bigger after Black Friday...maybe around Christmas it will get good.
I can see most of the star wars, action figures, and barbies to go quick :(
More like the Webkinz.

Black Friday buy 1 get 1 free game special... Is that online? I wouldnt mind call of duty 4 and assassins creed for $60. If its not online which KB toys actually sell console games mine only sells DS and handheld games?

At least they clearly marked which stores are closing on their store locator instead of Hollywood Video's "we're not telling you which stores are closing" bullshit.

When they closed our local store a couple years ago, I was picking up new games at 50% off. They eventually had games 75% off, but by then nothing to choose from.

My local store is actually two locations in te SAME MALL! Newport Centre, in Jersey City, NJ.
One is closing, the other, not. What I can't figure is this . . . why bother with a sale that will undercut the other store? Just put up a "please visit the other location" sign after the lease is up? Is there some corporate mumbo-jumbo that has to happen before you close a store?

Two of our local KB Toys went out in the last round of closings and the third, as far as I remember, only sells handheld games(GBA, DS) now, so this would be a major waste for me.

Next closest one to me is 35-40 miles away near the NJ border and since I know they had a crap selection the last time, I won't even waste my time trying to go to there.

Doesn't really surprise me. Two of them back in Connecticut when I lived there were so barren with product I was wondering how they were staying in business.

I'll have to see about the B1G1 at a mall when I'm back there at Thanksgiving

The one in Town East Mall is closing, as I expected.

I'm going to the mall in a while, let's see if they have anything worth buying at discounted prices. Probably not, but hey, worth a look.

My local one doesn't even sell games anymore. The other ones in my area that did sell games all closed and one that is not so local only sells GBA and DS games (and mostly kiddie games at that)

I am glad my local store is not closing. KB is nostalgic of my childhood and I would be sad to see it go.

Maybe if you drench the freak store in holy water KB will be saved. ^^

Damn that's the KB Toys closest to me... Leave some for me buddy as I will probably wait till it hits lilke 50% or more.

Any KB Toys thats closing isnt having black friday deals...I work for them and one of my stores got the shaft. Everything is 10% and the last conference call we had they said they would like to be closed up by January and on average raise it 10% each week so next week will be 20% and so forth...

hmm good to know. I'll check out their selection when it hits 40-50%. maybe I can snag a Final Fantasy 3(DS) and others.

Watch out liquidators are supposed to come into our store Monday to take an inventory count so you nothing can be held back...We expect everything to fly off the shelf when it hits 30 (black friday week)...Because we have a few DS Lites and games I was wanting to pick up but they will be long gone at that price.

hmm I didn't know they sold systems too. those pink ones will fly off the shelf definitely since my KB is in a mall that moms are in all the time.

The closest store doesn't even show up on the store locator. Really weird, maybe they closed down a few weeks ago and I haven't noticed.

that sounds a lot like the KBToys by my house... but i don't live in VA so its different

wow this deal is awesome, i have 2 in savannah, one opening at 5 and one at 12, i think ill prefer the sleep, but depends on the selection. Is there any way to find out what they have before going? Like a item stock checker on the gamestop website? or do i have to call. definitely gonna get like 4 games though, AC, cod4, uncharted, and another one

Usually by the time the % off reaches that point, you're lucky to find movie games left or anything that's halfway decent. Though, I will say that when Transworld bought Sam Goody and I hit a closing sale in Paramus, NJ about 2-3 years ago, they had ALOT of stuff left in their last week in business, including MULTIPLE copies of Silent Hill 3 and other 'rarer' or sought after titles.

Mind you, at that time SH 3 was going for a paltry $10-15 most places, so I didn't grab anything, but looking back now I should've.

The Willowbrook Mall, Wayne, NJ KB Toys is closing, but don't get your hopes up. A sad selection of GBA, DS and even less PS2 games are now at 10% off.

the kb toy store I worked at for 5 year in HS/College is closing...kinda sad/sadistically pleasing. After going to work at best buy I was surprised KB lasted as long as they did. Their canabalistic practice of firing people down the line for no good reasons and horrible sales tactics is finally paying off.

Was christmas shopping the other day and saw my local KB with the 40%-60% off everything posters every where and decided to see if they had any games left. The game shelf was completely gone and replaced with trading cards. Looked around for a little to see if there was anything that would strike my interests, but the store was full of kids and toys were spread all over the floor. Man, that place looked like a dumb.

it's only at 30% off everything in the store. The guy that was working there said it would stay that way.(only video game they had left was Star Wars BF 2 for Xbox and some GBA Titles) I hope to pick up that stuff at 90% off but I don't think it will drop that far...

I walked into KB today, threw up a little bit in my mouth, then walked right back out.

Don't waste your time, folks.

Not to mention not carrying even a decent line of video games and consoles (AKA Wii etc..) Hello KB ! video games are a billion dollar industry ! didn't they fiqure that would be a huge part of their profit ? Oh well too late now
