[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

So is there any news on N64 and GCN games heading to the eshop? I'm pretty sure Nintendo said ages ago that they'd eventually release them. Seems like the perfect time now, with the adapter coming up.
the adapter in only compatible with smash bros wii u. so i wouldnt hold my breath for gc games.

They also once said we'd get more 3D Classics, and SNES & GBA VC on the 3DS. Sure hasn't happened yet.

Out of what we have so far. Anything in the future is up in the air.

I really hope they at least patch in MK8 support. Maybe together with the DLC in November?

Well you can always buy two adapters and eight controllers for Smash.

Speaking of which for anyone that didn't see they added another incentive for buying both versions. Mewtwo DLC free for both versions. I'm going to go ahead and guess that it's going to be through CN registration like the CD.

Well yeah, you have to register both versions of smash, so I think it will be safe to assume. Same way they did with hyrule warriors dlc.

Anyone else notice all they have left for physical rewards now are 2 greeting card sets? There isn't even a "currently unavailable" section anymore to tease us.  I think that means there will either be a massive restock of new physical items soon, or more likely they are done offering physical stuff.  They must hate the american gamer since they are losing this gen.

I have been refreshing the website daily, and I also see the change. I'm okay with digital rewards myself, but yes, I would argue some new ones are about due.

I'm going to assume you are being hyperbolic, but I'm afraid many gamers think there is some truth to this statement.

Nintendo of America is a branch of a multi-billion dollar corporation; they will do what they think is best for their investors. Apparently, someone in charge of such things decided the physical goods were too expensive to maintain, and that a switch to digital rewards would be their best alternative. This has nothing to do with punishing American gamers. It's strictly a cost-cutting measure to keep Nintendo competitive in the marketplace and to maintain calm among their investors.

If you want to blame something for the disappearance of physical items, I think the rise in petroleum costs over the last decade has been the significant factor. That doesn't mean it doesn't suck to lose the physical items; it's just a sad effect of the rising fuel costs (in my opinion). Nintendo (and Sony and Microsoft) never loved you, nor do they hate you. Like all corporations, they want to earn your business while maintaining profitability.

WE the consumers have brand-loyalty. WE are the ones who feel attachment to our consoles and our games. WE are the ones who feel emotion (be it boundless faith or poisonous vitriol) toward these companies, not the other way 'round. Because we're human, and they're not.

Will all these CN promos that they're doing I'm never going to get my other games registered - gotta keep on registering these new ones for the bonuses!

Anyone know if coins (in your account) ever expire or can you save them in perpetuity?

Not according to the Supreme Court.

They expire after two CN years.

700 coins is too much for me right now, unfortunately. :(

I've ordered several poster sets from CN and the amount of coins required has gone up each time, my first set being only 350 coins. If this is truly caused by shipping prices, I wish they could give us the option to just pay shipping through the online store.

I'm still debating with myself. 200 extra coins for a 3 poster set is a big increase in price.

I'm probably not going to order it, but at least it gives me a minuscule ray of hope that the physical rewards are not dead yet. The keyword here being yet.

Anyone else hoping that they kill off the physical rewards altogether and start expanding the games offered? Could be that I'm alone is wishing for this this, but all I care about is getting more than one Wii U offering per month, and hopefully better offerings as a result.

I agree. The physical rewards have been really crappy lately imo, but I'm more about the functional rewards, which they seem to have done away with (the 3ds pouches, 3ds game case, tote bag) . The decorative rewards (statues, posters, patches, greeting cards) do nothing for me.

Nope. If you want games bad enough Nintendo has an Eshop that you can buy stuff from.

I'm assuming you understand the difference between buying games on the e-shop and getting them for free with rewards points. Part of the reason I'd love to see a better selection of CN deals is precisely because the VC prices are so out of whack. That's cool if you like the physical rewards, but the fact that I have the option to buy overpriced VC games doesn't somehow make digital games nonviable as CN rewards.

Posted this in trading, but if anyone wants these but doesn't have the coins or doesn't want to spend them, I can get em for you before they sell out and have Nintendo send them to you directly and send you the confirmation and such.

I just want eshop credit, or digital games from the new nintendo online store if that's easier. Games I'm interested in:

They have games worth getting. Donkey Kong 94 is a great game as is Kid Icarus 3D. You can have it both ways. No need to be prejudiced towards only one way of doing things.

I think you're missing his point and more importantly the point of Club Nintendo. Play Nintendo Games, get special rewards. Right there on the front page. There is nothing really special about getting VC games for free when they're available to buy.

I'm not trying to be part of an argument though, I get that you prefer games to physical rewards and I think that's fine. Just saying.

exactly cause the games are available at a second venue whereas the physical awards are exclusive to the club nintendo stores and are not available on a 2nd venue that why I'm with the majority here that there need to be a increase in physical awards

Technically, you get 2 Wii U games per month, 2 Wii games, and 4 3DS games.

I don't want this to be a big argument, but I never said it can't be both ways. I'd just prefer to see more actual games offered, since I find the physical offering to be superficial at best, especially since they got rid of most of the practical stuff (I actually still use my Pikmin tote bag regularly for groceries). If that meant dropping physical items, so be it, but I'd be all for continuing physical stuff if they also added more games.

I also don't think the fact that I have the option to buy games means that they shouldn't be offered through the program. Personally, I think Nintendo needs to step up their game when it comes to their digital promos compared to XBL and PSN, and expanding the available software through CN would be a great way to do that.

New "smash bros" posters up for rewards, but 700 coins seem high. I recall my much nicer Luigi, zelda sets costing around 500. Nintendo just kill physical and give us some great 64, GameCube vc titles for a fair coin value.

matrix is right. And BNoyes have you seen CN Japan? That's how the reward system should be.

They should really let you claim eshop credit.
Since you guys are talking about things that'll never happen I'll play along. I think Nintendo should provide me with a castle. This game isn't as fun as I thought. Maybe I'll play Donkey Kong 94 instead.

Have to admit I haven't seen CN Japan. How does that work? Anyway, I get that we all have different likes and dislikes, but I've been into gaming since I was a kid because I like playing games. The superfluous materialistic stuff doesn't do anything for me, so I'd like to see more games as rewards.

And like I said before, the option to purchase games does not somehow make actual games as rewards a nonviable option. It's kind of like saying, "If you want a Mario poster or Pikmin handbag, you could always just get some crafts supplies and make it yourself." If they're going to offer rewards, they should try to get it right, and at the moment it doesn't look like people who like games, or other physical rewards, are getting anything very rewarding.

In for the Smash posters.  I love the poster sets.  They look terrific when framed.

Had 1330 coins saved.  Down to 630 now.  (I only buy physical rewards.)

I ordered it as well. I had a ton of coins saved up. I have a wife who loves animal crossing, a daughter who loves Zelda, and another daughter who just loves anything I get her. 3 posters for 3 people.
