[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Friend got his posters in today, three weeks after being shipped from NOA. All three have creases down the dead center of the poster, obviously mishandled or damaged BEFORE being shipped as the tube was flawless.

Nintendo is a joke this year, first with my CD being cracked, and now the posters creased.

They're infamous for screwing up posters.

Your friend should call Nintendo and tell them. My Zelda posters (link between worlds) were creased due to the mail mishandling the poster. They sent me out a new set, this time via UPS, free of charge. This was after they were out of stock at club nintendo, so I am sure they printed extras of those posters as well for replacement purposes.

... I had a "suspicious" amount of 3ds xl's and dis xl's registered (my local gamestop gives me the console boxes :D )
How did you get coins just with the boxes/serial number? I've always had to link my consoles to my Club Nintendo account in order to get my coins.

Really interested in how you did that.

Never knew that, I've never ordered posters from them before.

Thank you, I'll let him know. Any word on them sending replacement CDs as well? My, like many others, arrived damaged due to their carelessness in shipping.

They will replace the CD, but both depend on supply and how many whiney bitches are out there. For instance, if everyone who requested a replacement for a mere scratch got one, people with realer issues like phogoodness and I might get screwed because it took longer to get ours or at least mine. Obviously Nintendo doesn't have a never ending stock of these things and can only satisfy so many "issues" before they would have to reprint, which they simply won't do. I can also confirm Nintendo didn't ask me to jump through many hoops. I never had to display proof, so douchey opportunists who doesn't mind being banned (not like being a member is a must and people will gladly risk it) can easily make a claim and get 2+.

Thank you for the heads up admiral. Not quoting you though as I don't want to spread that info, if I were you I'd edit your post.

My cd arrived with a huge crack across the entire back. The corners were not crushed like I saw in someone's photo, but the crack is obvious and right across the middle of the case.

Was going to try and trade it, but don't feel like bothering with it. Here is a code for Xenoblade: 59f-2gkt-jv68-mje

Please post if you use it, and if anyone has any duplicates, feel free to PM me :)

EDIT: Someone has PM'd me that they used code

Why? The type of filth that we typically see from SlickDeals is going to try either way, so what difference does it make? Hell, you can tell countless CAGs that you can't price match here, you won't get this price, such and such goes against policy and they will still post long winded stories about how everyone at -insert whatever retailer- is incompetent and they should be honored to touch the green that comes out of their velcro wallet that they got for free 10+ years ago.

Maybe I am just too cynical now a days, but with or without the information, these people will try and they will bitch. Even if they get a replacement, they will bitch. Even if they get 2 replacements and sell all 3 for a combined total of $300 dollars, they will still bitch.

that is sadly true in many ways :(
still waiting for my Soundtrack to arrive. Hope it's in good shape.
or if anything, just require a chance of the case (as long as the disc and booklet is intact)

NOOOOOO Luigi Statue is Sold Out :( I was trying to get enough coins for a second one, one to keep in the box, one to open (not a flipper here!) Saved up 1070 coins, and now its gone :(

Lets call a spade a spade and agree that thinking they did nothing and they didn't do enough are the same thing. Your whole point is fairly black and white, since you believe that it could have been prevented (in theory, yes) and that they had the data to prevent this. However, we don't know what the normal figures are and what the holiday figures are, so your whole basis for a point is flawed. Nintendo could have planned ahead for a 300% increase, but a 500% increase happened. At the same time, they could have done absolutely nothing and this happened because they did nothing.

As far as the other companies are concerned, it was a point about how this stuff historically happens. Most times companies / groups fail to get this information right and while it could be incompetence (at least according to you), it could be that it isn't easy to account for this sort of thing and it's wrong to automatically assume that whatever data they had was representative of what their response / result was. This relates back to my point of calling you entitled. You don't seem to care about how this happens a lot, nor do you seem to believe Nintendo or anyone put their best foot forward, you just want the ability to transfer your Pokemon and you want them yesterday.

In either case, I don't wish to continue this argument. I've been in enough arguments to know that you want to be right and believe whatever you believe in absolute. I won't say I am much, if any better, so I am just going to save us all some time and walk away.
No. fuck no. Sure, the whole Nintendo system failure thing is a moot point now that the system's back up, so I won't press on that anymore, but there is no way I'm going to let you get away with saying that anything that isn't doing enough is the same as doing nothing and then in the next sentence accuse me of thinking in black-and-while terms.

Did you not see where I outright admitted, twice, that I had no idea how much Nintendo had really done to prepare, only that it wasn't enough? Sure, crashes happen a lot with a lot of companies, but you realize that not all crashes are created equal, right? It's not just a matter of "it did or didn't crash" but also how long the crash lasts, like how one could last a few hours, a day, or a week or more. Sure, it'd be nice if things like this could always be prevented completely, but that takes a miracle, and I already said I wasn't expecting miracles.

If you want to end it, fine, but don't you dare try to artificially take the high road by kettle-calling like that before you do.

I am getting SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fuck cking SICKKKKKKKKKKKKK of Club Nintendo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Figured I'd have some time to get some more coins together since it's preorder. No. Between that and their 'lightning deal' rewards, I may start buying their first party games used.  fuck ckin' ridiculous that they don't realize they should have bigger supplies, by now. Especially when they did the XL cradle.

Honestly, they should just do preorders like utopianmachine thought Luigi was or announce edition sizes. I brought this up a few pages back, where Nintendo likes to announce things early, but still has a finite supply. Though I don't think any of us honestly believe Nintendo cares about Club Nintendo.

Yeah, I never had a shot on the cradle that I could really really use, although im not going to bitch about club nintendo because they at least have a good rewards program unlike Sony and Microsoft

Just for clarification... you consider shoelaces, bookmarks, a folder, kirby patches, and a pack of playing cards as a 'platinum reward' once a year 'good'?

Yeah as far as game swag and free digital games, Sony and MS don't come close.

Nintendo does this without even charging a subscription (I know that would be ridiculous).

It is a pain in the ass sometimes with the prizes, and our club pales in comparison to the Europe and Japan clubs... but you have to keep in mind they are doing this all for free with free shipping.

I'd go as far as saying this is a "great" rewards program in comparison to nothing at all.

Free is free so yeah, I'd take a pack of playing cards, shoe laces whatever for free. I'd also take a Luigi Statue, Majoras Mask Soundtrack, and Hanafuda Cards for free as well without having to pay a dime, just take a few surveys

A lot of this goes off how you conceptualize free, value, reward and the like.

Like the short lived PlayStation House Party program beat Club Nintendo on every single level. You did less work and got more rewards. Sony also had a short lived digital promotion, which was more open than Club Nintendo and ended with everyone getting a T-Shirt for just being a part of it. Right now Sony has their Sony Rewards program, which might not offer swag, but it's a lot less of a hassle, more open and has rewards I would actually want. To give you an idea, I much rather have a $10 dollar voucher than anything currently on Club Nintendo. Not to mention Sony also recently did Bid for Greatness and the Greatness Exchange program for trophy hunters.

You could also argue that preorder bonuses and such beat out what CN offers too. Since you need to buy several games (at various prices) to afford anything and fill out surveys to get anything, something simple like the Tearaway charms beat out CN too.

Also if you count things like promotions, Nintendo falls short in all facets. Most Club Nintendo offerings are comical at best. For instance, the Fire Emblem / SMT coins were actually worth more as vouchers (easier to sell too), than selling the $30 dollar voucher for $24 or so. Nintendo also excluded people during the old Buy a 3DSXL and Luigi Mansion or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (I think that was the game), where as Sony has just straight up given free games. Lower quality than the aforementioned promotion, but it wasn't filled with any condition besides "own a Vita" and even then people found ways around that.

M$ on the other hand has a rewards program that gives you cash back and you can get up to 3% cash back for earning achievements. They also do a lot of bundled offers, like get a HDD and these games are free, buy gold and get these games for free (not talking about games for gold either), plus several companies have had promotions where you can get free games via an instant game (which can usually be exploited and found here on CAG).

Not that it matters, but Nintendo is probably the most stingy company in terms of review copies and are also don't tend to do a lot of press stuff / convention promo items either.

So unless you conceptualize Club Nintendo as a complete free program (even though you need to purchase games to get coins) and don't value your time (surveys), then Club Nintendo is the best. If you look at Club Nintendo next to what other competitive companies are doing, it's the best strictly rewards based off voucher programs in the industry. Though, this is like saying Club Nintendo is the best rewards program called Club Nintendo.

Yeah, I never had a shot on the cradle that I could really really use, although im not going to bitch about club nintendo because they at least have a good rewards program unlike Sony and Microsoft
Both companies have "good" promotions if you attack them the right way. I would also go on to say Club Nintendo is the worst promotion, because after 5 years they've yet to find their groove or really understand what people want. Remember, most items sell because people don't want to waste their coins, not because the item is perceived to be valuable on any real level. Like I rather spend imaginary money for a cradle than $20, which I wouldn't pay for such an item in the first place.

Eh, it doesn't matter anyway if you're buying them regardless.

Please, God, not this argument again...

I agree. There are definately two sides of this argument and it goes nowhere. I think we can all agree that Club Nintendo is better than nothing, but it could certainly be infinitely better than it is.

I don't know, all of the programs you listed seem like too much of a pain in the ass to me.

A lot more hoops to jump through rather than buying a game, typing in a code, and completing a 30 second survey.

Simple stuff.

Neither company rewards you for purchasing physical copies of games which is what effects most people anyways.

At this juncture, Nintendo has the best free rewards program (for my interests) hands down.

Yeah. Lol. Wtf was I thinking being pissed at their free, though nearly impossible to get, program items. I think it'd be better if they remove the physical items and stick to digital games.

The Luigi statue has been up for about a week now, I'd hardly call that impossible to get. The charging cradles though, yeah, I'm right there with you.

I wonder how limited these luigi statues will be.............what percent of club Nintendo members had 1500 coins.....of those people what percent ordered. I want details....I want #'s

No. I would try to explain it, but I doubt even Nintendo could explain it.
Back in the day of MyNintendo, only Nintendo-published games came with codes. I was weirdly surprised when I opened my Skylanders Giants Portal Owner's Pack 3DS, tossed Tree Rex, and noticed there was a Club Nintendo registration code in the package...of an Activision game?

60+10 coins on a $10 game (Amazon Black November Deal). Not too shabby.

It gets... weird. Like Sonic Lost Worlds and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate 3DS have codes, but Wii U don't. I never got why the cheaper more popular versions would get the better bonus, but I suppose this is one of the many reasons why people think Nintendo has no clue what they're doing.

So... anyone have surveys not turn up over the past couple of days?  I've bought games on both my 3DS & Wii U and they haven't showed up in my account yet. :/
