[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

I have a question about club nintendo. It says the year goes from July 1st - June 30th. Does this mean the universal points towards your gold or platinum reset at the end of this month? Right Now I'm sitting about 70 points away from plat. What have the prizes been in the past for these things?

That's exactly what it means. Previous years rewards are the last spoiler in OP: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/306379-club-nintendo-deals-super-luigi-u-promo-metroid-ii-return-of-samus-3ds-super-mario-bros-3-wii-f-zero-x-wii-link-n-launch-3ds/?p=10429101

Yes, the tally of registered coins ends on June 30th, though the coins earned do not go away (unless they are expiring from a previously registered year). If you are only 70 coins away from Plat, and have enough reserve coins to get at least gold for next year, I'd say it's worth it. The prizes have been getting progressively worse, however they offered download games last year, good if you missed the respective month they were available (and they were open to Gold level members too).

If you haven't already, hunt down a copy of Wii Fit (the first, not Wii Fit Plus) for an unused code, those are worth 100 registration coins right there, and are plentiful at GS (just ask for it behind the counter, and make sure you get one with a CN card).

While it's cool to have an opinion, I wouldn't exactly say they've gotten progressively worse. Year one only had a "plush" hat or a special game that was really short and easily pirated. The next year we had a figure, which many considered the best prize. After that there was the badge collection, though I wouldn't say this is any better or worse than the hat. Finally we have the playing cards, which were probably not that cheap to produce (I work at a place that does promotional stuff like this and to get custom cards from a supplier in bulk would be $3 dollars a pack, though looking at how complex / short run these were, I would expect it cost Nintendo more than a few coins) or some poster. The thing is, the prize might not always be great, but they're usually well done and interesting. This year will probably be something Luigi like (most likely the hat, since it would be easy), though not going to complain no matter what it is.

Thanks for the tip. I just registered my copy of Luigi U and got the double points. Now that I'd 30 points away from plat I'd really like to hit it. I may go pick up a copy of Wii Fit. Any idea how much it costs used?

Sorry, if this has been addressed multiple times, but if I'm sitting 50 coins from platinum and I have already registered one copy of Animal Crossing: NL, can I use the second account on my family account to register a second copy of the game and the 50 points will pool with my existing points and I will be at platinum?

I had just read the faq in the op but the comment above about making a sub-account and getting banned has me worried. I would just like some reassurance that I won't screw things up before I register a second copy of ACNL.

I should have five post-play surveys coming on the 29th but if I could just get platinum and be done with it today I would rather do that.

Thanks.

You should be fine, but Nintendo has done it. Not a lot else to say, but if you're REALLY worried, then you can always trade another CAG for 60 coins worth of stuff. Around this time people are usually pretty cool / nice about that stuff.

I have to laugh.  I just looked at my account and saw all of the surveys that I forgot to fill out over the years and see that I've missed out on 610 points over the last 4 years.  Ugh.  Oh, well.  Live and learn.

IF anybody has a unredeemed code could you please PM.  I'm only 10 points away from platinum and would really like to make it to it.

When I was at Gamestop today I picked up two copies of Wii Fit. I haven't checked yet but I'm assuming the second code is valid. If anyone would like to trade I'm open for it.

How can I buy Wii games if I don't have a Wii, yet? I have 1 on the way.

Also, I'm assuming Mario Bros 3 is $5? Wondering if it'd be better to spend the $5 and save the 150 coins...

Better be a WiiU if you want that promo. Wish they would just get it together and do an account bound system since I would be buying these games despite waiting for some major price drops on the system.

Wow, no more fucking game and watch collection 2 or Game and Watch Ball? I was going to order both tonight. Oh well, you snooze you lose I guess.

I don't see anything worth using points on.

Am I mistaken or haven't those been unavailable for a while now?

I'm disappointed that I missed the 3DS Card Case 18. Was looking for something similar earlier today and stumbled across it for the internet to taunt me.

I have no trouble loading the site right now :whistle2:k

Worked for me after a few tries.

I've been checking daily all month. Everything has been junk, well for years now. But the past ten days is the garbage of the junk.

Just had to waste 1,800 points tonight in randomness so it didn't end up wasted. I have a feeling the 'wasted' points would actually be worth more than the junk that's left up there.

Well, wonder what the rewards will be. I would imagine something Luigi related.

I was gonna order the Animal Crossing cards but they're gone, there's nothing even worth it. Out of what's left I would get the Animal Crossing game case but 3DS games don't even fit

Damn, I was going to order the shoelaces with my 170 points, now I have to get Metroid 2 and maybe even waste the 20 points I have left.

I have no interest in the screen savers.

As I've mentioned a few times. If someone wants / needs to get rid of their coins, I have been looking to get one of those pencil / pen cases. I am more than willing to work out a deal with someone (as long as it's not absurd, I mean it's a pouch for pencils...) to get the item and help them out. ^^

Out of what's left I would get the Animal Crossing game case but 3DS games don't even fit
I got the Animal Crossing game case when it was 300 coins during the Luigi "green" sale around St. Patrick's day. I didn't realize when I ordered it that it was only meant to fit DS cards. However, the foam that houses the games is soft and 3DS cards can be easily crammed and held inside the case. It's obviously designed for DS cards, but if you don't mind cramming the 3DS cards in a bit, it might be worth considering spending some coins on.

Does anyone know if Super Mario Bros 3 is coming to the Wii U virtual console anytime soon?
No one knows what's coming and when other then rumor. They announced Earthbound before the end of the year and Pilotwings is listed for July 4th but they don't give release dates until right before they release.

Is the fucking website down again?

Nevermind, it's back. BTW what the f*** happened to ShaqFu. I miss that thing. I can't be trusted to censor myself !  :whistle2:D

So glad someone mentioned the points have an expiration date or else I'd be rushing to buy any ole junk before I 'thought' they'd be expiring.

How long does it take for items you've ordered to show up?

I've just redeemed coins for both 3DS titles available, and gotten the code printed out, but the points are still there.  Is this a glitch, or is Club Nintendo just a little slow?

Edit, nevermind.  Now the coins are showing redeemed.

I wish I had paid closer attention. I was 5 coins away from platinum but didn't do any of my leftover surveys. I was so close! but i hope they give out good stuff this year anyway.

So I had a few surveys left over because I hit Platinum for the last Club Nintendo year. However, I just filled out a survey (because today rolled over) and it added the 10 coins to my account but says 0 / 300 for Gold for this year. Is that normal? Should I wait until tomorrow? :(

I have the same problem. I emailed Nintendo but I haven't heard back.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but I'm pretty sure the Club Nintendo rewards calendar year ends every July 1st, so your status was probably reset for the new year.

I think this is normal. It'll fix itself in a few days.

July games are up (exp Aug 4):

Aura-Aura Climber (3DS) - 100 coins (only $1.99 anyway)
Donkey Kong - Gameboy version (3DS) - 100 coins
Super Punch Out (Wii) - 150 coins
Star Fox 64 (Wii) - 200 coins

I dont know if this would help anyone but about the coins expiring this is what club nintendo says abut it.

Do Coins Expire?
Answer:

Yes. Unredeemed Coins expire after 2 Club Nintendo years (July 1-June 30). When logged in, you can view your Coin Balance with the account information at the top of the page. See Terms and Conditions for more information.
